... this is the new shit.
That's still sushi if the rice was prepared with vinegar.
I think fried crickets look delicious
>>8516223
Thats retarded. Fish lends itself texturally to vinegar rice. Arthropods are crunchy. This is the equivalent of putting pop rocks in caviar or butterflying a tender steak, inserting a slim jim, then searing it shut
For me, it's the chili has no beans.
all bean chili is pretty good.

Reported.
I prefer green peas.
What's your favorite porridge/hot cereal? I love steel cut oats but I want to try every kind of grain porridge there is.
>>8516080
I only ask for a handful of oats, brother.
Could you spare some?
>>8516091
I used that pic because it was the only thing oat related that I had saved. I should have known what would happen.
I buy the cheapest 1 minute oats I can find. Too bad Dollar Tree quit carrying the "I <3 Oats" brand.
I find "chewy" oatmeal absolutely disgusting.
My minute oats must always be accompanied by toast.
Fruit is optional, but appreciated.
>team of well payed food scientists, tasting panels and marketers actually greenlighted this turd sandwich
What a waste of money, no wonders the company is going down the shitter.
Why, next time I'm craving a delicious fresh grilled chicken sandwich I'm heading straight back to Burger King for a tasty char grilled Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich. The juicy grilled chicken breast, the cool crisp lettuce and fresh sliced tomato, the gorgeous brioche bun. My friends let me tell you. When your on the go and don't have time to backyard grill a plump seasoned chicken breast there is no need to fret. Because I had a Tendergrill and it was among the best meals I've had this year. Next time your itching for some summertimen fun'timin backyard BBQ flavor head on down to Burger King. Because the future of America is in your hands.

This is a good thread

You can't say that, we don't know if it's a good thread yet. It would be fair to say it's a good OP, big difference.
Help me out here /ck/.
Anytime I follow a recipe that calls for lemon juice and I add the correct amount the food ends up being way too sour.
For example, yesterday I cooked this Chicken Piccata
http://foodwishes.blogspot.sk/2011/04/prick-your-tongue-with-chicken-piccata.html
It calls for 1/4 cup lemon juice which is 60ml in normal units.
I ended up adding only about 40ml but the sauce came out incredibly sour, the lemon was overpowering all other flavours.
As I said earlier this happened to me many times.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I too sensitive to lemons? Are my lemons super potent?
pls help
add some baking soda in it, that neutralized the acid
>>8515712
1/4 lemon juice seems a lot
I mean, were you stingy on the butter? because that would balance it to a degree.
Maybe just get your recipes from somewhere else.
>correct amount
Don't stick rigidly to recipes at the expense of your food...
If the lemons in your area are more sour than other lemons, use less of it.
thoughts?

Americans are nothing if not doggedly persistent in their attempts to elbow sweet dessert foods into every possible meal of the day. It's really quite impressive.
CANDY?
FOR BREAKFAST?!?!
Do you buy bulk dry foods, /ck/? I notice a lot of threads around here along the lines of "I'm poor, what should I buy?" Well, the answer is, bulk beans/grains/etc. I recently saw lentils and split peas on sale for $0.75/lb, or $1.65/kg in US dollars. In other words, 75 cents for over 1,500 calories of split peas. Why do many people seem to ignore this option for budget eating?
the issue is that while bulk dry goods are edible, they're not tasty.
People want whats cheap and that they won't fuck up
You have to get out of your car to buy them.
>>8515600
Yes. 1.65 USD per kg is expensive, I can buy beans in Australia for less than that, lentils are even cheaper
>Visit mom for the holiday
>Going to cook for the family
>Open the cabinet for spices
>Nearly all of them expired 3 years ago
Know they don't really go bad but most of them seem to only be used once. Was debating of using them or just buying new spices for them that they will never use. Since I already have enough spices for me.
Any horror stories of trying to cook at someone else's place?

>[redacted descriptions] guy brews tea the way his gf/mistress tells him, they brew everything from black tea, green tea, cinnamon tea bag, hibiscus, white tea. In a metal tea pot..
Oh they warm it with water
but then they throw out the one minute brew.
I can understand it at time for some teas, but all the teas...
>being this triggered
Questions about why and what couldnt shake them about there possibley being more rational things. (especially since their cheap tea bag's additives and flavourings fall off into the minute tea)
Oh but
this is the
CHINESE WAY
WOWee such culture very china for them to throw out so much tea and then rebrerw it for 3 minutes remarking on the delicious subtle flavor..
Conclusion: Noting my personal limitations and how close I had come to unbecoming behaviour, I am pleased to say that I have let it go. When they remember, their minute tea goes into one of my receptacles and every now and then I enjoy a refreshing light infusion of their various walmart teas. A happy ending for everyone, do not cry for them.
but then they brew it for a minute
>>8515514
In case this is unclear, they warm the pot, toss the water, then use fresh water to brew for a minute before disposing that and brewing 3 minutes more.
[ps- then I see him remembering tosip the cold tea hour later remarking on it's delicious flavor]

Hey i got these hot sauces for christmas and i was wanting to cook em with some chicken and make hotwings. I would preferably like to find dish that doesnt involving frying even if it means not making hot wings. But if thats the application for these sauces so be it.
>>8515260
Those came from Target. I almost bought a set.
You can bake them, just make sure to toss them in a bit of flour/cornstarch so the sauce will stick.
>challenge
Taste the 3rd from the right. See how hot it is.
That will let you judge how to use the others.
Do you still miss them? I do.
Gross.

Yes because there's certainly no such thing as a white Mexican...
Pic very much unrelated
What, white guys can't be Mexican? Fucking racist.
Californian > Chilean > French > Italian
I'd have to go by region, but the one thing I do know is that California wins overall for beer.
>>8514458
On what basis? California wine is expensive and is mostly single varietal stuff. Chilean wine I'm not super familiar with but again mostly single varietal stuff, never really sounds super interesting to me. Why are we putting them ahead of France and Italy?

Why dont you use stevia instead of sugar/honey as your sweetener?
>0 calories
>Natural and comes from the leaves of a plant
>Doesnt spike blood sugar level and cause diabetes
>Not a artificial sweetener toxin like aspartame and splenda that gives you cancer
Whats your excuse? Its literally perfect I use it in all my beverages in my baking on top of fruits etc
aspartame is superior.
2017 is the year of palm sugar.

Why?
How can a brother get some good bread in the United States fuck.
Do they even still make wonder bread?
>>8513058
Good bread in the US is a tough ask. Find where the rich people go for their upscale cheese and the bread won't be too far away. You will not find any bread worth eating in a typical supermarket.
>>8513061
No when hostess closed wonder bread died
