>want to cosplay as Okarin for ASTL in May
>no outside food or drink is allowed in the St. Charles Convention Center
rest in peace the doctor pepper dream
So who /ASTL/ here?
Thinking about making this dreamboat. Any ideas on how to start? Also tutorial thread
Get some mild steel sheet, 2mm will do, an assortment of hammers, steel shears or aviation snips/jigsaw with metal cutting bits or an angle grinder with cutoff wheels.
Rough cut the shape then gently hammer the shit out of it into a dished out stump or a hole. After rough shaping, begin adding in the fluting with a blunt chisel. Wash rinse repeat, drill holes and lace or rivet together where appropriate. Blam, done. 6 months later, but done.
anyone lost any lolita or cosplay items and got it back? never seen again? or discovered something?
some basic questions here to get started:
what did you lose?
where did you lose it?
did you get it back?
and for success stories...
what did you find?
where did you find it?
>leave brand parasol behind after a meetup
>it's gone by the time i come back for it
>o-oh well, i was going to sell it anyway
>some guy posts on 4chan looking for the parasol's owner
>"This is an expensive item, I am keeping it safe for you!"
>wants me to meet him in person to get it back
>says he's a big fan of lolita
>lolno, not meeting up with a stranger for a fucking umbrella
>consult with friends to see how i should respond
>meanwhile, he makes an ass of himself on /cgl/
>is discovered to be a sex worker on top of having a shitty, narcissistic attitude
>/cgl/ eventually convinces him to leave it at the meetup location's lost and found
>someone else retrieves it, i don't want anything this weirdo's hands touched
>thereafter, comm does an "inventory check" any time a meet ends or we change location
>no one misplaces anything for months
Fallout cosplay thread
out of curiosity, what is the dumbest thing you've seen seagulls get mad about?
or what was the worst advice that /cgl/ has ever given you? how did it turn out if you did follow the advice?
if you have multiple stories, please post them here
I've had people attack me in the cosplay suggestions thread for giving them suggestions based on possible characters they would like to cosplay.
They literally were bitching that I didn't suggest any character to them that was outside of what they listed for possible cosplays for themselves
>what is the dumbest thing you've seen seagulls get mad about?
1. venting anonymously about friends while omitting identifiable details.
2. taking a picture of a winter coord while the ground outside was green.
>contact lens vs. glasses vs. taking glasses off for photos in lolita
>natural hair vs. wig debates in lolita
Every time. It almost generates as much rage on either side as race debates on RC.
What are some costumes/characters that latex works well for? I want to do a latex costume, but I don't want it to look too over the top fetish-y.
Can you make this girl look even halfway nice? Give it your best shot:
reposted because I forgot to take off the freaking tights.
I tried going for old school b&w since it's the only thing I could think of. There is only one usable skirt. Why can't there be even one decent lolita dress up?
I wanted to make a thread like this for a while, because the struggle is real.
How tall are you, or for how long have you been active in sports? (or both)
Being forever locked out of cute empire waist pieces, OTK socks, cute shoes and pretty much everything that comes from Asia, we suffer. What's your solution?
I'm 6'0, with a wide torso and muscular calves from 16 years of swimming. Most of the time I buy the cute things F21 has been selling, since I really like gyaru and larme-kei. I also started looking into sewing recently so I can alter clothes that are too short on me.
>tfw you're 5"10 and will never be kabedoned by Akira
>or anyone for that matter
>tfw when just wanna cosplay cute lolis and petite girls
>tfw 6'1 and a naturally muscular build
Is it only me who has a hard time finding good cosplays for a chubby body? You can not do sexy cosplay cuz you have fat, but you dont look good in others? What are your meanings for this?
Well perhaps think about what cosplays you wanna do for your body type. If your flab is hanging then perhaps do something about it. But if you're a landwhale please don't cosplay as sexy characters.
Just learn to tailor your costumes to your body. Most of the horrible fat cosplays are the result of people wearing costumes made for a different body shape and then just sizing it up. There is more to tailoring than that and if you do it well, you can make your costume look so much better.
Aside from that, there is chubby, and then there's fat with cottage cheese thighs. Take care of your skin and body, and don't use "fat shaming" as an excuse for shit cosplays.
Less tumblr posting edition.
Post your crossplay's, progress and any crossplay tips
There isn't a single male anime character that I like and all I ever watch is slice of life moe shit.
How can I crossplay ironically?
Is there a middle ground between "trying to pass" and "dudebro in a dress with aviator shades"
What are the greatest and best cosplays you've seen. Would love you see them.
Im curious where/how people store this stuff during off season.
Have you ever find some loliable or even lolita pieces? How much did you pay for it? Was it base for your DIY?

Anyone else feel like western cpk should just be called something else, seeing as it looks nothing like the original fashion?
I think I need to track this one down.
