Just curious what kind of cosplayers an anime con in Jerusalem attracts
>>8907966
the con is only on March 24th
I'm aware of brands you can buy online such as Exekobe for Men and Wish Room for men, but are there any brick and mortar stores in Tokyo that cater to male-sized measurements?
Donki does kek and there are fetish stores all over akiba aswell as some in 4chome. But usually for going out the Japanese tug their dicks and wear 'normal' girls wear
Are there any other seagulls trapped in the Treasure State? There's nothing interesting to do here, and that needs to change.
only luck you'll have is moving from that sh*thole, honestly.
I use to live in zoo town and never ran into a lolita.
hella fucking sad.
Me and my ex would dress up often.
He did wore dandy.

what is tryhard about this??
I wasn't expecting the frumpy girl to become one of the prettiest that's for sure.
>>8906835
That's not frumpy, that's fujocute
Any gulls going this year? I wonder if it will be any better than last year's con.
Are you cosplaying? Gonna wear Lolita? Just there to hang out? Let's discuss.
Wasn't there a bunch of drama for this con, like them not paying guests? I have ex-friends who liked to pretend they're local con celebs and know they did not get payed.
I'm going, though I am going to be in AA.
>>8906699
That as well as bootlegs and c3 scamming them out
>>8906699
Also the convention is poorly planned with very little space to even walk around in. It kind of sucks all around, but it's one of the very few con out here。
Marvel Thread?
I'd really like to see some Daredevil or Jessica Jones cosplayers if there are any around.
>Jessica Jones is me.

I can't wait for Dr. Strange to come out, I'm more than ready for more cosplays of my fave.
What do you hate about con badges? What do you wish the cons would add/remove?
>>8905408
I hate when cons list my full name. I don't want a bunch of fucking autistic weaboos knowing my full name.
>>8905429
Pretty much this. Also cons that still use stamps. It smears all over my costume.
>>8905429
Would the option to use another name, while still having your full name recorded somewhere (in a much smaller font), be acceptable?
Longtime lurker here; I don't own a hell of a lot of lolita clothing, but I love looking at the pictures. Now I'm about to go to Japan for my honeymoon, and will be stopping in Harajuku!
For someone into gothic lolita (and especially aristocrat) looks, what are some places I should make sure to shop at (even if it's just window-shopping?)
you didn't need to make your own thread for this. We have a lolita general for a reason.
>>8905116
For window-shopping go to Laforet, for actual shopping go to Closet Child (there are several in Tokyo). If you like the aristocrat aesthetic you may want to visit Swallowtail and Vampire Cafe. Here's a good thread from the archives that covers the basics:

Hey /cgl/, complete newfag here.
I'm planning on making my first cosplay and I'm planning on making it on Arkham Knight's Scarecrow.
A friend that has been doing coplay for a while told me about a couple of people that make props where I live but I want to experience of making everything myself, even if I have minor experience with modelling from school.
This brings my question, I'm planning on making a livecast of myself for this endeavor and if I enjoy cosplaying, to have something to start working into.
Do I have to make casts for every cosplay I intend or one is enough? Is it possible to remove clay from those casts or do I have to make a new one after I put clay on it for some latex prosthetics?.
Any advice to a complete newbie on this? My next idea is making a Controller from STALKER series.
>>8904770
Do your lifecast in an ultracal clay and layer it in with burlap to give it strength. My lifecast is around 6 years old and still going strong. When removing clay just use a wooden tool.
>>8904770
*ultracal stone not clay. And make sure to sculpt with a non sulfur clay like Chavant NSP if you want an easy cleanup.
Been awhile since we talked about it but Cosbox is still a thing it seems. March items seem alright and that "full sized magical girl pattern" is most definitely the Simplicity Sailor Moon pattern that was probably bought up during Joann's 5 for $5 sales. The Sparkle Pipsi bow is a cute idea but that tutorial has been online forever and it's not like the materials are hard to find.
Also there's another gofundme? For a better box that can be a "cosplay storage box?"
gofundmeDOTcomSLASHcosboxstorage
>>8904395
no.
I looked at the gofundme and that literally is a waste. Why spend money on a shipping box that has pretty pictures when eventually you might throw the box away since it takes up space and most cosplayers would already have enough storage boxes to keep everything in order.
>>8904681
This. Unless the box is plastic or very sturdy or has some really cool design why bother? They say they're going to have some cool labeling system or something but otherwise the pitch is weak.
The good, the bad and the blight.

As I've been planning a cosplay recently, a thought popped into my head. The cosplay I was planning was more of a casual look and the thought crossed my mind that I could go hyper accurate to it or I could take it on as a "how it would be executed in real life feel", a sort of lived-in look. I can't find a good way to exactly explain what I mean, but pretty much, when does /cgl/ think it's okay to take some artistic liberties to really become the character except in real life and when do you think it's more appropriate to be very loyal to the original design. Discuss?
For example: a character doesn't have a shiny fabric in one place, but you know it would look good or a character having boots of a certain types, but using a slightly different style of boot because that's what they'd have to wear if they were real.
>>8902274
It's normal for cosplayers to alter some elements for multitude of reasons.
Certain hair styles do not translate well in real life so cosplayers have been known to tone some elements down for practical reasons. Others change clothing items and lengths to better flatter their figure. In terms of your question, Jojo cosplayers routinely use shiny fabric to bring out the sparkly look the characters have even though the source material shows otherwise
>>8902274
I cosplay mostly from comics, and since comic artists often aren't costume designers, they don't have always create costumes that can exist. Seams are missing from important places, body parts are outline in a way that just isn't possible, etc. I take liberties where possible so that 2D drawings can work in the real world.
in op pic i would tone down the collar and jester looking shit to make a more functional outfit
i have done so similarly with gaius where his knee-guards in game are ridiculously large and look silly in game let alone real life
I'm going to post some miscellaneous inspo.
Well. I've decided I will cosplay a fairly sexy character but I am scared that will change my personal life. I live in a small town and this feeling is crushing me. I really want to do it but I'm already giving up. Should I do it or nah!?
Do you have the body for it?
>>8900314
yes. I've been working out a lot and I'm definitely in shape.
Seriously ask yourself this anon. Do you find yourself pleasant to the eye in the cosplay you want to do? Or is it one of those attention grabbing joke cosplays?
If you've been putting in the effort, and you feel like it'll be a good fit, then by all means, go for it, and honestly, unless you get into some kind of crazy drunken shenanigan while cosplaying as that character, it shouldn't affect your normal everyday life too much.
How do you decide if you're going to attend a convention or not?
Are there ones you always buy a badge for regardless of content?
Do you wait until the schedule and guests are announced before buying in?
I'm very curious about other seagulls' decision-making processes.
>>8899842
My decision to attend or not are going to be based on very different things compared to that of majority of people.
>How do you decide if you're going to attend a convention or not?
Depends on which series are to be promoted at the con and the amount of free stuff.
>Are there ones you always buy a badge for regardless of content?
I always buy a badge for cons that will give me more free stuff than the badge is worth. I never buy a badge for cons that will promote series I am interested in since I'd get in through the volunteer route instead.
>Do you wait until the schedule and guests are announced before buying in?
No. It doesn't matter what the schedule is or who the guests are if I'm volunteering since I'll be told where to go and when to show up.
I go to conventions to cosplay and hang out with people. Schedule and guests are irrelevant to me.
My decision-making comes down to cost, distance, and whether friends are going.
>How do you decide if you're going to attend a convention or not?
Friends. I'm not going to a con without a bunch of my friends unless there's something amazing about it I need to see. That being said, unusual events draw me in, not guests. Something like a big Miku concert would get me to go somewhere I wouldn't normally.
>Are there ones you always buy a badge for regardless of content?
Kind of. Some cons are reliable and also have all the regular friends and faces, but even then, I'm not a big fan of doing that.
>Do you wait until the schedule and guests are announced before buying in?
Only in a sense that it helps indicate how trash the con itself is. If there's nobody local "talent", I'll treat it like the glorified hangout in cosplay it probably is. Unless they're checking for badges, it's probably not worth buying.
