So, last month I inherited everything from my late father who was very successful but ended up dying of heart failure while on some trip to australia. I'm 21, first year at uni for physics, and know absolutely nothing about money/business/finance or whatever. What do I need to know? I'm an only child and my mother died a few years before from breast cancer and he was really depressed over it, which makes me think he actually killed himself while on some spiritual australian outback trip or some shit like that. I got the house, the cash, the guns, cars, everything in a will he wrote that comes out to an amount in the lower eight digits (which makes me think he did kill himself writing a will at 59 after my mom died and him dying only three years later)
10+ million gbp, usd or aud?
lulz. whatever it is, it's enough. you don't need to worry about shit. just put everything into a vanguard index fund and live normally.
>parents dead - check
>inherited everything - check
>family history of mental illness - check

Spend all your money on the lottery.

It's sad that people think that somewhat famous celebs want to date wealthy playboys.
Most of female celebrities are dying to find real love, they don't want to be another trophy girlfriend.
They don't even care about money, if you have the opportunity just talk to them and don't be an asshole.
The problem is that only the biggest assholes dare to go to them, so usually they love when an intelligent guy approach them.
Oh, and never identify them with their role, that puts you automatically in the "pathetic fan" category.
As for the /biz/ part: quickly? be extremely lucky, that's the only way for quick riches
Down nearly 30% from when I originally bought. Fuck me. Should I just give up on them? Was I stupid to let it get this bad? I am still pretty new to investing. What would you do, /biz/?

Life Science startups are literally the biggest meme of our times.

So chalk it up to a learning experience and pull out before I lose even more money then? I think that's probably what I'm gonna do. Fuck.
Buy more and ride it out.
What major can I double up with economics to make decent money?
>>1479726
Finance and Economics go hand in hand, but if you want a job in Economics you need to be top of the top in students.
Focus on Finance or get A+ in every Eco class.
Best choices are Math, CS, Finance, Statistics.
Comp Sci
Is there any way for me to salvage my life after accruing $10,000 in unpaid tuition my freshman year and being unable to return to school before paying it off?

10k isn't that much... you could save that after working one year.

OP read The Richest Man in Babylon as a start to educate yourself in personal finances. Don't do memes, cryptos and other shills. Get a job, if you already have one start looking for one that pays better. Do you have family? start to do things for them get on their good side then get loans from them have them involve in your affairs of paying that debt and work a payment plan with them where you would pay them in a arrangement. Have things to sell do it. Look for some threads in biz there are people giving free advice about how to do certain things.
can someone pls explain what averaging down is?
It refers to the purchase of additional units of a stock already held by an investor after the price has dropped. Averaging down results in a decrease of the average price at which the investor purchased the stock, faggot.
>>1479680
A strategy by which people who bought failing stock attempt to justify putting more money in, usually.
Why bother investing when you are never going to make it while you are still young?

Any chance for someone with social anxiety disorder in the /biz/ world?
try r9k
Option 1: trade memestocks and crypto
Option 2: Kneepads
>Social Anxiety
I used to think I had that to until I realized it was a meme and I could do anything I want if I forced myself to do it.
Let's say theoretically someone had a relative who was about to die soon from cancer.
Now let's say that relative uses a credit card to buy a shitload of stuff and gives this stuff to you secretly.
Is there anything bad that could happen?
>>1479605
if it was a high enough dollar value, the card company might consider trying to prove fraudulent intent.
They might look at the cardholder's previous purchase history and see that there was a group of purchases out of character month before he died. They might decide if it's worth hiring a private investigator or pressing charges. I think it's a long shot of getting caught if you aren't retarded and post on FB about your "big score"
>>1479605
The best option is for them to pawn that stuff of and give you cash. It would be hard as fuck to prove your cash is from your relative, especially if you use it to pay all your non-rent life expenses (gas, groceries, entertainment, furniture, clothing) for a couple months before they get around to the investigation.

I have inherited a building w a storefront on the first floor. in a small town. What is the best bet to build an easy low maintenance business there. Im a NEET so want something easy. alternately I could rent it out to a business and get free
money perhaps
Impossible to answer without knowing the demographics of your city. Analyze what businesses exist, their competition, what surrounding cities have that your city doesn't. Things like that. Leasing it out is the low risk/low reward route.
If you have a soughtafter skillset, do something with that. It's not like you can open a dentist office or accounting agency because they're profitable if you dont know how to do it.
>>1479558
Rent it. Starting a business would be fairly complex for a variety of reasons, managing properties is a lot easier and would effectuate roughly the same result.
Rent it out. Much much less hassel.
Also put some thoughts in who you want rent it to. What would work on your location and such.
And never put a Restaurant there in case your tempted. They usually are the most difficult Business to rent to. Secondly get a good lawyer to set up an commercial rent contract perferably with some turnover percent rule also index rules if you can force that in your market.
Should I become a nurse or a social worker?
I'm a 23 year old neet meme degree dropout.
>Nurse will take 5 years but will be earning money in 1, jobs everywhere
>SW will take 3 no moneys til qualified, no idea about the jobs
I'd go with nurse but idk about cleaning and washing people until you get to the nurse point
Probably nurse. But do more research on SW jobs.
good luck finding a job in social work... every woman with an IQ of 90 get degrees in that low paying field or is spending thousands to get a masters degree so that can make 60k a year
It's the career for idiots
Is it possible to buy a house with a credit card?
Say i have a card with like a 5k limit and theres a cheap house i can fix up for sale for 5k.
can i just swipe?
>>1479504
I guess so.. you would get a better rate with a mortgage though.
>>1479504
There's not like some sort of POS terminal for house buying, BUT:
Yes, you can kinda-sorta do this. Remove the bank out of the picture, get a title company involved, and get them to handle escrow. Doing this via a credit card would be difficult, but I'm betting you could probably just pay out of a bank account and live off the credit card for a bit.
>>1479504
Where the fuck do you live where you can buy a house for 5k?
>decide after much deliberation that day trading is probably my best option for getting rich relatively quickly
>search 'day trading introduction' on google
>read some of the articles
>my fucking face
So... how do people make a living from this, exactly?
Is it just a meme?
Hell if I know. It sure seems scammy, so I stay away from it. Just get some good rental property, put done into index funds, it's a very reliable way to build your wealth.
Realize that Get Rich Quick (tm) is not a plan of action for you, it's a technique to sell you product.
>>1479429
>how do people make a living from this, exactly?
They sell instructional videos, useless charts, educational programs, and blog click-bait to idiots like you.
>Is it just a meme?
Fucking duh.
I'm in the same boat as you OP
Push on through it, brew up a huge cup of coffee, get reading, watch youtube vids and all that.
It's possible if you really want it.
Hey /biz/, should I dump my life savings into X?

No, you've already missed the real train. X got it's huge bump because of trade sanctions the Obama admin but on Chinese steel, artificially raising the price because higher tariffs = more domestic production.
The problem is this is most likely already priced in. I remember hearing the announcement on CNBC and thinking "wow this will be a good investment opportunity.." Sadly I didn't have any capital to put in and also missed the train.
OP, if you like the fundamentals and think there's room for growth you should definitely throw some money at it. It's much too late to YOLO and go all in though
