Are there any school programs to go into that are like architecture but are not meme degrees?

I care entirely too much about spaces and the flow through them, but not so much about actual engineering of the space to not collapse under its own weight (I view it as a largely uninteresting long-since solved problem)

Is there still demand for architecture or urban design, or should I just go back to school for 3d art and animation and hope to become a level designer for shooting games instead of 'tisming out about parks and roadways?

I'm not so big on management. I'm more into controlling space so it subtly smooths out work rather than actually painting lines down for people to follow and regimenting shift changes.

Is Industrial Design a meme degree? I think I'd be happy designing ergonomic screwdrivers or making glassware for bars that's both stylish and easy to clean.

I really can't make it clear enough that I'm a design wonk and not an engineer. I can understand the principles of engineering but I really fundamentally don't care as long as it works and don't have a head for complicated math like you need in EE or anything involving fluids.

I thought about it and they look like they have a case so there would be HUGE implications across the globe as giant megacorps that exist on dodging taxes like Google, Amazon will also have reason to fear.

I will just have to calm myself down swimming in open libraries and social services that are funded. Darn.

>Start with Shkreli's record as head of MSMB Capital Management, the hedge fund he launched in 2009. According to the SEC, he took in $660,000 from investors starting in November 2009; by November 2010, $331 was left. Some of the money allegedly went to fund Shkreli's lifestyle, but most was lost in trading. This was in a period when the benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index gained roughly 13%.

>He took in another $2.35 million in investments in December 2010 and January 2011, the SEC says, including $1.25 million from a single investor. By the end of January, half the money was gone, and by the end of February it was all gone and MSMB was in the red. This was during a period in which the S&P 500 index gained nearly 9%.

>But Shkreli's biggest blunder was an enormous short position in Orexigen Therapeutics, a La Jolla biopharma firm with an obesity drug. Shkreli shorted 32 million shares of Orexigen on Feb. 1, 2011, when it was trading about $2.50 per share.

>This was a massive bet that it would fall from there. But what was curious about this trade was that Orexigen shares had just taken a huge hit, falling from $9.09 the day before, when the Food and Drug Administration had issued a report questioning the obesity drug's cardiovascular safety. Shkreli, in other words, shorted at the low. Orexigen bounced back, gaining more than 50% from its lows over the next few days and ending the month up more than 30% from where Shkreli had shorted. Because short-trades lose money when the stock rises, Shkreli's trade was blown to smithereens.

Why do people still trust that living meme?

I will try to make this as short as possible.

So i'm currently 19 years old and want to become successful in life.
Success for me is earning lots of money and living a happy life with my future wife that will love me, and i will love her.

My main question is, how do i get to this point?

Also another question, are playing games for entertainment fucking retarded? Right now i want to begin playing Starcraft II and i will obviously not get pro in that game. Should i start playing it because it might be fun or should i just don't bother wasting 100's or 1000's of hours. Right now all i do in my spare time is sitting home browsing 4chan, reddit, watching latest Youtube videos of my subs, skyping and playing Rainbow Six Siege with my friend. I feel like i should do something else with my time, like living my life or something? Remember i'm 19 years, aren't the 20's the time where everyone is "Living their lives"?

I also want to learn Korean, how hard will it be to learn this on my own?
If you are wondering the reason to learn the language this is the following: Kpop, Kdramas, interesting culture, Korean E-sports are great. Might want to move to Korea in the future? I guess i should start learning the language instead of doing what the paragraph above is about.

Last question: On the part about earning lots of money, i currently saved up 19K USD. What are some smart things i can do with this money to make more? I have no idea how investing works.

Please help me, any answer is appreciated.

That 19k is excellent for your age. Youtube channel is a better investment of time than just playing the game WITHOUT doing something to try and grow an audience/monetize it, so that's something. It shouldn't be considered as anything other than a past-time however, as it will take a LONG ass time before you actually start earning good money with a channel.

My sister is the same as you in regard to being obsessed with Korean culture. She learned it on her own in about 2 years, and can speak it pretty well. She also has had some Korean friends help her at the same time however.

Generally yes, the 20's are where you make decisions to affect how easy the rest of your life will be. I have one piece of advice actually:

If you see any type of opportunity for travel, take it. You're in a better position than most with that kind of money, and you could easily afford a month's vacation in some country you've always wanted to visit. Employers like that shit too, because they think that travel makes you more "worldly" or whatever, and they also assume that you got it out of your system so you won't just leave them due to wanderlust at some point.

You definitely want to read up on either the stock market, or coin market. Lots of people will say the coin market is a waste of time and a meme, but I've also seen people start with 15 BTC and make their way up to 150.

BIGGEST ADVICE: Treat any money that you set aside for investing experiments, as money you will not have again. This is good for two reasons:

1.) You will not accidentally blow everything you own.
2.) People tend to make mistakes when you have emotions attached to the money you're manipulating. If you treat the money as play-money, something you never expect to earn anything with, then you're much more free to think clearly about what to do with it.

If you fail, you fail, but you're at a good age where even if you DO lose money, it's not the end of the world. Take educated risks.
>>
>>1473667

>If you see any type of opportunity for travel, take it.
What kind of opportunity am i looking for? Like go somewhere in my holiday or try to get a job that's likely to place me somewhere in another country. <- omg that sentence sounds austistic as fk, but i'm not sure how to explain it..

> read up on either the stock market, or coin market
Is there any books you suggest?

Also loved reading your "biggest advice".
As you said earlier i should read up before investing. And when i start invest in stocks i should start with a low amount, that will make me "fail and learn" in a cheap way. It's kinda like paying class for investing if that makes any sense.

the thing that worries me is if I miss an opportunity it could be ages for the next one

This is my first time posting here, so forgive me if I don't deliver all the details wanted right away, if asked i'll provide more. But I come here today after posting on /adv/ with no responses realizing I was right in the assumption that this is the board for my question. I have fallen on hard times recently. With losing my job a few weeks ago due to an emergency at home with a pet who unfortunately passed away a few days later, and running out of money, I'm left with one option as I see it. A loan, however the issue is being I'm only just shy of 22 and come from a particularly non-supportive family, I dont have a credit score/credit history. So my question is, can I even find an entity willing to give me a loan (i looked at spotloan, and figured maybe they might) and if I do, is it worth it with all the interest id be paying? For example, a $400 loan from spotloan, which is enough to make me comfortable until I have luck in the job market, considering I have one bill that was due yesterday, and the first of two payments of my rent coming near the 14th or sometime around then. I do two payments a month because its easier on my and my S/O and the person I rent from is some what family so while they would not be lenient if I couldn't pay, they're atleast flexible with my form of payment. Not only are there those things I've listed so far, but I'm dangerously low on food, and I do the cooking for the two of us. We supported my younger sibling during the summer with no help from our dead beat parents who are still legally responsible for her, its a complicated situation. If I didnt step in, she would've just been kind of screwed the whole time until she started school again yesterday. So in a way it was forced but it was also by choice. I also need gas for my car to get to interviews and back, and pretty soon ill need more pet food for my animals. So with that context in to my situation hopefully someone can give me some good advice, and not just tear me apart.

Get rid of the animals... you can't even feed yourself dude.
>>

DO. NOT. TAKE. OUT. TRIBAL. LOANS.

http://www.americanbar.org/publications/blt/2013/03/04_miller.html

tl;dr: Most companies offering short-term duration loans are using a stupid tribal lending loophole to charge 500%+ interest. They also trick you into "subscribing" to these loans, effectively dropping money into your bank account monthly and taking out "service"/"interest" charges until you basically go bankrupt.

See the footnote on the Spotloan website:
>Spotloan℠ is a brand owned by BlueChip Financial, a tribally-owned entity organized under and governed by the laws of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota, a federally recognized Indian Tribe. BlueChip is located on and operates within the Tribe’s reservation. All loans are subject to credit approval.

actually my animals are well fed. and it doesnt cost more than around 35-40 a month to feed them. Like I said, theyre fine for now. But in the event I dont have a job for whatever reason by the time I need to get them food again, I just want to be prepared. But that scenario is highly unlikely. thank you for the comment though, any feedback is appreciated more than I can express with words

Hey /biz/, I've had a concern that's been daunting me however I've been looking to get a car and can't figure out between a used or new car.

>been told new car builds up massive credit and no car probs for 5-7 years.

What do? I'm hoping for a small guideline to buying a car for the first time if you guys can help

What is the absolute lowest someone could start investing to really get a good feel and gain experience with the stock market?
I see some people on here from time to time who claim to go in with only $100, now I understand that is a low amount and that if you did start earning any kind of profit it would be slow paced. But however is it technically possible to continue to double up on a monthly basis if you were really smart about it and let's say for an example I was using Robinhood.
Now I do understand all of the memes, but again hypothetically speaking here could I turn $100 into $200 within one month on Robinhood?

Also what's /biz/ opinion on $100 to get started in penny stocks or lower end stocks that seem to be doing well and being potentially a small profit made in investing?

Options:
A) Save your money until you have a realistic amount.
B) Start with $100. Fail miserably.

Repeat B until you finally adopt A, or proceed to

C) Become disillusioned with the market and quit entirely.
