Can we get an information systems thread?
Who else is in this study and what direction are you trying to take your life.
Currently starting my third year at a Canadian university and starting into my IS concentration.
Thanks.
IS is all about experience. Also, it's important to get some good certifications (MCSE, CCNA, ITIL Foundation etc.). You'll probably start at a help desk somewhere, but if you get those certs you'll move up relatively fast. Since a tonne of that stuff is moving overseas and turning into "the cloud", I recommend also learning a tonne about virtualization and coding.

I am. At my college we focus on database design mostly using ERP systems SAP and Oracle. We have one of the best hiring rates in the college with avg starting no experience jobs of 50k.
My 2 cents to people wanting to become network admins -
Well I fineshed my local college essentially for a network administrator, they taugh me to ~ MCSA, CCNA, basic linux (console, user premissions etc) and some other stuff. And it's absolute shit and one if not the worst choices I made in my life, I think.
To find a work seems to be almost impossible task since every employer wants me to not only know their own bullshit software (that really isn't hard or anything) and refuse to give me a chance even though I'm fast learner and could handle it... I mean I was called to an interview only few times during a whole year.
Also it feels like weird middle ground between when you are a beginner and you have to work as a tech support since you're not really qualified to do other stuff, and yet not qualified enough so you actually make the cut to most vacant system/network administrator positions that are open. 10/10 m8's, if you plan to go this route, don't stop at ccna, go straight ccnp and get those greasy voice and security certificates too - otherwise you'll probably end up like me with no job in slightly over a year now.
Feels bad to waste time like that since I completely lost my interest in IT alltogether during that time. In retrospect I think going to study finances/statistics would've been much better for me, considering I initially went into IT because I wanted a "human interaction free" job that pays well.

App that you can text and it calls 911, giving them your address and the situation you're in.
Used when you can't use your voice (killer in your house searching for you) or for mute/deaf people
Been in my head ever since a friend was in a situation like the first one idk
>>1478078
useful but how will it make money? ads?
>before we text 911 for you watch this quick video!
>>1478222
Make it 1-2 dollars in the app store m8
People who need it will buy it(mutes and deaf people)
People who are paranoid will buy too.
Especially when guns in America become regulated when Hilary wins
Masters in economics or corporate finance.
Dubs decide unless someone comes up with a convincing argument for a side.
>>1477973
what do you want to do with it? what do you do now?
>>1477979
Student. Currently taking internships (no success), as well as trying to get some filler for my CV (tae kwon do trainer haha). I'm two years into my study of econ.
However, when i got my ba i can switch to a ms in finace just by taking some preperatory courses, or i can continue with econ, and eventually specialize in the 5th (of 6) year.
>>1477986
ok so you still didn't answer... what do you want to do with it? Do you not care, you just want a job and think studying money will make you money?
Best business major? Currently in Economics but I'm only a freshmen so I have time to change.
>>1477844
Well... fuck it, I tried. Carry on, Tax Master!
>Tfw studying Tax law
Look at me... I's the Taxmaster now
>>1477844
What do you want to do? There is no "best" major, it depends on what you're going to use it for.
>touch base with me tomorrow morning before the meeting
>>1477818
Lotion your hands so they are nice and soft
>>1477823
It puts the lotion in the basket.
It does this or it gets the hose again.
>let me know if you have any questions
So what does /biz/ study or did studies in ?
Tax Law guy here
>>1477807
Wow, where is that picture from?
I studied finance at MSU.
>>1477807
oh Hearst Castle.... wow
economics. it was ok, didnt require that much work to get good grades which was my main requirement
How come there isn't a marketing general in /biz/ ? Lots of people make threads asking questions about marketing, yet no one has made a thread dedicated to these questions.
Lets have a Marketing general.
OK, guess I'll start this thing myself...
if a website doesn't even have users after 1 year (after posting it to 4chan sometimes) but its idea seems to be good (got lots of praise about it), should I rebuild it, spam it more or simply drop it?
>>1477774
First spam it.
If it still doesn't work, then decide to rebuild or drop.
Although it sounds like what you need to consider is why the website doesn't have users.
>>1477779
I'd go with this.
Depending on what type of site it is you might need to make some fake profiles and stuff to "get people interested" - pretty much all dating sites do this.
Alphabay actually added Monero! THE ABSOLUTE MADMEN!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdO-_cfTqXw
Warning to all of you expert pump-and-dump traders: Monero is now a buy-and-hold coin. Just like Bitcoin, Monero will become much harder to trade due to actual organic demand. Sit tight and enjoy at least 5x gains by January 2017.
whores are for pump and dump, girlfriends are short term trades (you lose a lot of money in a short time), and wives are long-term investments that go down in value (you lose money too, not worth it)
>>1477547
Idk, other darknet markets added bitcoin alternatives earlier but all of them sucked dick compared to BTC
>>1477547
Whoa, so it wasn't a pump & dump scheme by them? Nice! Thankful I held.
Is it /biz/ to pay to have sex with a 10/10 once a month?
>>1477408
Yes... yes it is.
>>1477408
it's /biz/ to buy the dip, so only use her services during the slow periods when she drops her fee.
Also if you really want to /biz/ you might want to yell out "too the moon" or "Buy Ee Tee Cee" as you climax.
>>1477408
It is /biz/ to compare how much time/effort or recources you will lose if you try it the normal way, then compare it to what you will lose if you pay.
Also keep in mind that the product you will get is different, fucking a whore is a totally different feeling than working and chasing for/after it.
Keep all these factors in mind then make a decision.
/biz/'s opinion on law school? Should I go to one in the top 100?
What do you want to do with your life anon? Don't fucking go to university just because of some vague notion you should.
See if it specifically gives you a boost to what your endgame is?
>>1477012
Sorry, I just realised I gave no real information at all.
I'm finishing a degree in economics and politics and international relations this year and have finally admitted that I don't have the quantitative skills necessary to make it in finance so law is my next preferred route. I would be taking a postgrad class that is two years long which will give me the same credentials as someone walking out with a four year degree. Sounds weird I know but my country is different. Then I will train for a year to become a barrister at law. That is what I want to do with my life, though I understand it is long, strenuous, and uncertain in this current economic climate.
I would appreciate the views of anyone who has them.

a friend of mine passed the bar a few years ago and is set up to take over the practice she's at right now. she comes from a wealthy background, works ungodly hours, and is unbelievably connected to a shitload of important people because she hustles and networks nonstop. so yeah, make sure you're smart and ready to work hard, but also make sure you arent a complete autist and learn how to excel at human contact.
Say that I managed to raise a few million for a hipster feminist game on Kickstarter.
How could I make the money vanish without a trace?
Send it to me. Ill double it.
>>1476606
Convert to bitcoin and tumble it.
You'll probably need to collect the money through some kind of shell corporation, though.
>>1476621
How does one tumble bitcoin?
Does it really take money to make money?
It takes money, intelligence, hard work & dedication and a lot of time.
>>1476532
Sometimes, I trade 8 hours of my life for $64.
>>1476532
Yo what a fucking qt, whats his/her instagram? Also to answer your question, fucking of course.
Alright /biz/, so I've recently been buying shoes, clothes and other bits from ebay and reselling for profit on a local pickup website.
Does anyone else here do this?
Share tips and tricks...
>>1476457
Clothes a shit, good luck.
There have been multiple businesses that started just like yours.
Check YouTube for info.
>>1476686
It's hardly a business, it's more like... pocket money desu
>>1476457
How fast are you pushing the shoes and clothes?
Also what other sorts of items are you buying into?
Name someone alive who made a bigger impact to the world than Elon Musk

Justin Beiber
Since we're busy people, and since success books usually take fifty pages before they get to their lesson, let's summarize success books in one sentence.
I'll start.
>save a penny a day and in roughly ten years you'll have $36.50
I like the thread idea desu familia
Hmm I can't think of the best way to break this to one sentence cause Its really 7 ideas but I can compress it to 5
> Read, Read, research, the more you know the more interesting topics you will have to discuss, knowing what a potential contacts interests are before hand is a boon.
>Don't criticise, if you like something, tell the person.
>Smile more
>Never argue
Can't do one sentence, but I like this thread's basic premise
>Make a habit of constantly improving on your skills - don't get rusty
>Focus only on important shit and stuff you can do right now
>Stop looking at the world in terms of others as being your competitors or taking resources away from you, instead look at all transactions as mutually beneficial
>Believe you have control.
>Have clearly defined goals. And keep working towards them
