Hey /an/ I have a beta that looks exactly like pretty c related, but worse. He has no tank mates, but is about as old as Betas get and is sick and not doing great. What's the most humane way to euthanize a fis?

Clove oil, bucket and air pump. Fill the bucket with water. Put some clove oil in it, put the betta in and start the air pump.

that will only put the fish out of contiousness, there is no humane way to put a fish out of its misery exept for maybe injecting it with strong fast working poisons while its uncontious.

Sup /an/ first time here so I don't know if this is the place or /adv/ but here I go.

So my cat does what he pleases and I don't know what to do. He makes a mess fucks up everything and fills it with hair.
Lately he escapes whenever I open the door at night and he returns when he pleases late at night at the second floor window and the space there is so narrow that I'm afraid one night that I dont notoce him outisde he'll fall or something. Pic related.

How do I discipline my cat and avoid him doing this second floor window shit?

Meant window, just opened him the window. Here's him now, don't know why the OP image came tilt like that.

Got to add, the fucker is also the least affectionate cat I've seen, he doesn't allow me or anyone to touch him or get near him unless it's for food or shit like that.

How do I entertain my goldfish, I've only got one left and hell if I know if he's lonely or not.

I originally picked him up with a bunch of his pals when I was in college, some retarded student stand was offering free goldfish in baggies and naturally at the end of they day they tossed them in the garbage room.

I'm not a fish person but that struck me as a really shitty way to go so I got a 50 gallon tank and the rest is history.

Twenty years later the second to last one kicked the bucket (cancer), so I've got this last goldfish swimming around a 50 gallon tank. I'm not terribly enthusiastic about getting more fish because I don't want to introduce disease to him, he's kind of big to bring little goldfish in, and if I keep bringing in fish to give company to the other fish I'll be taking care of fish forever.

But I don't want him to be bored, is there such a thing as goldfish toys?

I've seen gold fish like to swim through hoops. Otherwise, if the tank is completely empty you could buy him some scenery, a bit of plastic coral or whatever.
>>
>>2289620
No pics of the tank?
You can put various things in the tank to see if he takes interest in them. Spawning mops, ping pong balls (poke a couple holes in them if you want them to sink, hoops, fake plants. Most fish will also chase laser pointers, but I'd only do that if you're going to feed him immediately afterward.
Giving him live plants to eat, such as anacharis, could also help.

>is there such a thing as goldfish toys?
I've seen videos of people training their goldfish using specially made hoops, soccer balls/goals, and feeding wands, but you can achieve all the same stuff for much cheaper using random stuff around the house.
>>
Wow I didn't know goldfish lived that long. Maybe you can give the little guy some attention every day. My fish and water frogs let me pet on them. But in order to establish trust like that you have to be consistent with giving them attention.

The state of South Dakota is so damn stupid....so we've had an ongoing issue with a local "charity" called 'International Society for the Protection on Mustangs and Burros (ISPMB)' Run by Karen Sussman.

Basically, the dumb bitch had 800+ horses under her "care" that were starving to death and being neglected. Several were dead (30+ from starvation confirmed) on her property....and the fucking state STILL will not charge her.

The loophole being, horses are considered "livestock" and in SD there's an acceptable 'threshold level' for livestock dying...

Sorry, I just had to gripe. I don't know how many of you like horses, but this really has been pissing me off.

These are a few of the videos that busted the 'story open' so to speak. There had been rumors of abuse for months prior to this being leaked.

Do something about it if you care.
>>
>>2289618
We've been trying, managed to get her to give up some of the horses, but she's refusing to let other adjacent rescues take them. She's convinced in her mind that these animals "need" her.

We've already tried all legal recourse. I just wanted to bitch a bit. If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
>>
>>2289608
Case in point, women should not head large organizations or be allowed to care for more than one animal at a time

I'm a single male living on my own and considering getting a dog, and being a 4chan regular I figured I'd give this board a go.
I'm currently going through university with the goal of obtaining a career in policing. I'm out the the house about 8-10 hours a day, but the remaining hours I'm very active and I go for long runs daily.
Would getting myself a dog be viable? Or would it be mistreatment to subject the poor guy to so much alone time?
I'd be looking to get a smart breed of dog that would act as a companion and a friend, preferably something that could be well trained from a puppy. I'd be more than willing to spend good money while I'm at it.
Thoughts? Advice?

8-10 hours alone is too long for a puppy

get an adult shelter dog
>>
also,

>going through university with the goal of obtaining a career in policing

why waste your money? don't they hire people off the street
my dad days they do and he teaches police foundations
>>
people on /an/ are neet purists who believe the only proper way to own a dog is if you dedicate every waking hour of your life to it

people who work 50 hour work weeks get puppies all the time and things usually work out okay, obviously it's not ideal but the people on here who say you're worse than literally Hitler for doing this should be ignored

also doggy daycare isn't that expensive

i know that certain breeds of bright eyed dogs are more susceptible to go blind. breeds like blue heelers iirc. not so much huskies. generally darker eyes are preferred in my opinion. ive got friends with blue eyes who frequently get headaches on really bright days and since some light eyed dogs are susceptible to blindness i personally prefer darker eyed dogs

plus they freak me the fuck out
>>
>>2289304
>ive got friends with blue eyes who frequently get headaches on really bright days

just curious, what has a bright iris to do with the amount of light that gets through the pupil?
also, dark colors usually absorb light (and therefore also UV light) way more while bright colors reflect light, hence shouldn't it be the other way round and bright eyes be less much of a problem?

to me it all sounds like a mix between fairy tales and other real problems that just sometimes happen to correlate with bright eyes but the color actually isn't the problem itself
>>
>>2289309
they're more sensitive.

I've had my dog since she was just 3 weeks old and it's been 1.5 years, I don't think she loves me or even knows who I am. She reacts excitedly to literally every human who comes near her and doesn't ever want to sit or lie down on my lap when we're just chilling.

How do I bond with my dog in a significant way?

>>

What breed? Breeds have different personalities.

My dog doesn't like to sit or lie down on my lap. He's a German Shepherd. He tolerates a hug for about five seconds and then squirms away.
>>
>>2289056
She's a shih tzu. The only way I can get really good quality time with her is if I'm carrying her around the house like a baby in my arms, cradling her. She loves this and will chill out and be absolutely still for hours a time until I put her down. But literally any other time, all she wants to do is run around and do anything other than spend time with me.

My point is, I know she likes affection or, at least she likes being carried around like a baby and maybe it has nothing to do with affection.
>>
>>2289052
I've never had dogs until I turned 23~ and was out on my own (dad hated pets), and I have the most loving relationship with my two dogs (German shep, 6 years old, and a pug 2 years old) and the dogs are best friends with each other. I think it would just be weird to have a pet and not have a bond with it (unless it's some vermin pet, etc.)

>Christmas dinner with the extended family
>mainly a Republican/conservative crowd
>aunts/uncles asking me what I'm doing
>started becoming a farmer because my gran is getting old
>took over the farmwork because her hired hand retired
>find it relaxing to be a hermit miles from the town
>was talking about how I had to kill an uppity rooster getting into fights
>cousin over hears me, scoffs loudly, visible distress on her face
>dyed hair, piercings, problem glasses, college-aged
>later find out she's majoring in Women's Studies in a big city college
>starts going off about how I'm cruel to animals, killing them for no reason

>told her the problem escalated when this rooster chased a hen down a quarter mile
>ripped feathers out of her back and bleeding trying to rape her
>the main rooster tried to break the fight up and they started going at it
>I decided to intervene and use the rapist for food
>the look on her face has changed, realized I got her on the ropes
>tell her "It's okay though, it was a white male"
>"My main rooster is a banty, and I wanted more color diversity in the next generation"
>her entire brain has short-circuited, mumbles something and wanders off

I have a similar story

>over at uncle's house for thanksgiving sort of get together a year ago (it was before thanksgiving because we all have our own families)
>cousin is a goth PETA vegan
>she's showing off her purebred Pomeranian
>doesnotcompute.exe
>She is hardcore vegan, needs to buy all her clothes from a select few online stores because they need to be cruelty free, won't even buy pizza from places that use those little plastic things to keep it from getting crushed
>but she bought a dog from a breeder
>honestly genuinely confused, I asked her why she chose to support someone making more dogs, when the goal of PETA is to have no animals under human rule
>she explained to me that their goal won't be met in her lifetime, so she spends her life educating people since she is one of the few 'eligible' to take care of a pure bred animal
>On that note, I took it upon myself to educate her on the ethics of breeders
>I began to explain to her the difference between a reputable breeder and a BYB, and why a BYB is bad, etc
>she throws a fit and dismisses everything I said because I've only ever owned 'dumb mongrels' (keep in mind I'm actually a professional, and this is her first ever dog)

>a year later, few weeks before Christmas, she posts her dog died of heart issues
>for the following weeks she's all 'fuck all breeders!'
>come Christmas party, think she will be more open to talking about the ethics of breeders
>NOPE she's getting a free puppy from the same place
>now she won't even listen to a word I say because I'm worse than hitler for being a vegetarian and then going back to eating meat after 5 years
>her argument was basically she's a better person than anyone else in the room and because of that deserves a purebred puppy
>tfw family has a money pool for when her next puppy dies of heart failure

I put my bets on 2.5 years

I haye the fact that they rake in so much cash with those heart-wrenching, manipulative commercials and shelters see maybe 10% of it if they're lucky. Granted, I'm not sure if the ASPCA is as bad as the HSUS, but after all the shit that came to light about them, I've stopped trusting 'umbrella groups.'

But, is doggo milk good quality for cheese? Does it taste good? It doesn't matter if the concept is gross, it matters if the product itself is shit.
