so my senior lab mix is sick. He has issues with his skin and feet, has been to the vet numerous times the past couple weeks for it. He had an infection in his back paw which refuses to heal even with almost daily bandage changes and a cocktail of antibiotics. He's also on antifungals for his skin. But it's even more so gone downhill extremely fast and now is spreading to his other feet and he has a fever. His CBC and blood chemistry have all been normal. The vet now thinks that it's an autoimmune disease that is literally causing his body to attack his own blood vessels, and starting in his feet. It's also why his feet refuse to heal and are still getting worse after treatment. We stopped some meds and started some new ones, namely steroids. But he's in bad shape and is almost like his whole body is slowly becoming less and less functional. It's also part of the reason he has skin problems. She basically said that if the steroids don't help then he will most likely have to be put to sleep because the disease will progress and his immune system will keep attacking itself
My question is about getting a second opinion. He is supposed to have his bandages changed tomorrow and the next day to see how it's progressing and if new meds are helping. My mom however, wants to not go to the appointment tomorrow and go somewhere else instead for a second opinion and get his bandage change done there
now, it's not that I'm against a second opinion, I think one is a good idea, I just also think that it's important for the same clinic to see his feet again since they saw it before and will know the progression and progress. But, I also would be charged for two different bandage changes and I worry about how he would cope with having his feet messed with so much twice in one day. But obviously the second opinion would have to actually see his feet, which would mean removing the bandages
I'm really lost. Opinions and input would be appreciated. I just feel really emotionally exhausted and sad so sorry if this doesn't make sense. I've had him for almost 13 years and am feeling like I'm in a dream and things aren't real

Yes, I would get def. get a second opinion. If you have copies of everything (tests) then I would forward that to whoever you are seeing, or get copies of it from your current vet.
I would also ask your current vet if they can forward you to a Caine specialist that deals with autoimmune diseases. If they don't know any then I would do some reserach in your area; look in a city.
As for autoimmune disease I have very little knowledge about them. I do know there are triggers. Stress is a big trigger (& constant vet visits probably isn't helping with that) so make sure you are keeping the dog as comfortable as you can. Also take a look at the dogs diet. I would go with a bland diet for now like boiled chicken with rice if the dog is having any sort of GI issues.
Something in the dog's environment can also be causing flaire ups (ex. Weather, allergens,etc.).
Best of luck with everything OP. Keep us updated
Second opinions are perfectly fine and I encourage especially if its some 'mystery' issue. Like human doctors, vets can also miss things and misdiagnose. However don't use it as an excuse to prolong shit. You should be prepared for the worst. Good luck and I hope things go as smooth as they can for you and your dog.
Who here /bonsai/?
I just cut the trunk of my wisteria I had been growing from seed for about 4-5 years. I am shitting bricks, did I fuck up?
Bump
Also looking for advice on starting out
i /bonsai/, but i cannot offer any help as i am rather new myself. my best advice would be to be patient and not to be rash in making changes or decisions. with most plants, that tends to make things worse. maybe it will be okay, only time will tell. plants, especially bonsai, are all about patience.

In a perfect world it's both that die
This is my kitty.
She just got fixed today.
Hasn't ate or meowed or anything but she did climb up on my fridge.
She seems to be in alot of shock atm and has finally calmed down fully and chosen bathroom as her sleepy spot.
How long does she need to heal before she can go outside?
She likes to be out but i doubt she will go out because its always super fucking cold in the winter here.
Was -20 out earlier.
And i found her approx -9 to 11 months ago so she probably survived harsh winter cold as a very young kitten. Would have died for sure if i didnt take her in.
Overall she is a great cat and doesnt cause problems but likes to kill and eat birds.
Smart little bitch too, definitely not a dumb cat by any means.
Worst she ever did was she started to shit in bathtub every morning so finally i had enough and sprayed her with the shower a couple of times, hasnt done that since!

Well, if you gave a shit about your animal you wouldn't let it outdoors unsupervised. If you don't care might as well let it out now, it's apparently just a street rat to you.
>>2292353
>don't fix cat, get yelled at to fix it.
>get cat fixed, want it to enjoy outside if it wants, get yelled at.
>keep cat inside, people don't visit because it smells like cat shit and piss
I clean out litter every day. Don't get to throw out garbage bag every day because i'd need to use small kitchen sized bags or throw out 1/4 full large bags.
Do you have any idea how long it takes a single man to fill a standard sized garbage bag? takes me 3-6 days at times and it can get pretty raunchy smelling in that time with piss and shit in it.
Cat nearly got ran over once so it doesnt want to be any where near road and there is train tracks on other side of building. So i know she won't go there either.
If shes out she can kill all the birds and squirrels she wants and i dont have to deal with shit smell.
My main concern with letting her outside is that there is a large dog 2 doors down and one in the apartment our back.
If i had ignored the kitten and let it die, i would probably be made out to be satan.
Like holy shit there is almost no winning.
I did try some scented litters and deodorant balls that you sprinkle in litter but it doesnt seem to cover up the smell that much.
I just want her to be happy and safe while not affecting my social life too much or my sanity.
Anyways this is the only triggered response im going to give so lets move on to solid solutions to this or other areas of topic.

Landlord recently axed one huge ass tree in front of the house I live in.
Now every time it gets windy I think my window is about to get pushed in. Groans, creaks and cracks loud as fuck when there's a strong wind.
Apparently the huge tree diffused wind really nicely since when it was windy the wind sounded really soft against the house, now it's really sudden, harsh and strong.
>>2291632
You do know there are valid reasons for removing huge trees right next to your house right?
I'm sure hearing the wind is an inconvenience, just not as much as a big motherfucking tree falling and crushing you.
>>2291718
Interesting how that tree wasn't dangerous for literally decades.
Also, it was healthy. Lush leaves and the roots were also intact.
They just wanted to get rid of it because it scraped one time too often at the wall and pressure from the neighborhood who apparently thinks getting rid of trees makes everything look more modern.
Wut animal is this

If i was an animal i would want to be that one
I have no idea what it is but it is in my reaction folder now.

Do your dog ears hang low?
Do they woggle to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
Like a bag that has a boulder?
Do your dog ears hang low?
Do your dog ears sit high?
Do they point down to the ground?
Do they wrinkle when they're cold?
Do they turn on every guy?
Do you wave them at your lover?
Do they run and look for cover?
Do your dog ears sit high?
Do your dog ears flop wide?
Do they flap from side to side?
Do they wave in the breeze
From the slightest little tease?
Do they pop from your brassiere?
When you drive, do they like to steer?
Do your dog ears flop wide?
Do your dog ears expand?
When you spend a couple grand?
Do they falsely fill your blouse?
Make you master of the house?
Do you flash them every way?
Just like Pammy A.?
Do your dog ears expand?
I don't know, but they taste pretty good

I noticed a lot of animals(especially juveniles) have this type of coloration: Brown, with beige horizontal stripes. Many similar sized species of animal start out life with this, but many don't share the sae niche/habitat like boar, emus, and to an extant, tapirs and deer. While many fowl also start out with this pattern as chicks. There's even mice that are like this their entire life(striped grass mouse). How do all these animals that are entirely unrelated find this pattern to be so successful with limited variation? Is it just convergent evolution? Do you think mammals got it from synapsids? Do you think dinosaur chicks like Struthomimus have this color pattern? Discuss.
I noticed too, just convergent evolution I would say
Magic.
I'm not joking.
I guess it's a pretty good camouflage

Puppy thread.
5 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback Male, Cecil. Weighs 50-55lb. Last time I weighed him a week ago, he was tipping 50lb.

Weighed 14lb.

Absolutely based. I bet SJWs get pissed when they find out where the name comes from.
Also, that's a big puppy! I have a shepherd dog thats 40 pounds at 6 months and everyone always comments on how big he is. 55 pounds is huge!

Do you boop your snake's nose?
I don't own a snake, just been glancing at silly snake meme stuff lately.
Is it something you shouldn't do to them because you know...sudden moving heat source in front of them or is it something they can get used to you doing?
/ curious
I think it's from that "boop an attacking shark in the nose and it will swim away" cant phrase originally.
Its fine
Snakes usually arent that stupid that they will bite you for that thinking youre food but they will probably bite you for hitting it in the face which they hate
>>2293116
If it knows you are too big to eat, it USUALLY will not wrap (99% of the time)
It will however, get pissed off depending on tameness
I could do this to my ball and it wouldn't get mad, just annoyed
If I did it to my retic, he would bite the fuck out of me
