Sorry I don't have a mental illness
fact:
vegan food is grown in the blood and shit and bones of animals
so it's not really vegan, is it?
the only solution to suffering is humane, sustainable agriculture

Is it a faggot?
I moved out on my own about two years ago
After about 6 months I realized how lonely it was to own a house by yourself
My girlfriend at the time - now fiancé - recommend I get a cat, as I wasn't home during the day to give a dog the attention it deserves
Inb4 man with pet cat meme
I rescued an 8 month old cat from a shelter who had been dumped there as a kitten - we named him George
Shortly after I got George I was hit by a car that ran a stop sign while driving my motorcycle home from work - I got hurt pretty badly
Needless to say he's been there through the good and bad as a comfort to me
Fast forward to now - George has tested positive for FIP, a disease that apparently effects less than 5% of felines
Incurable, and almost always fatal
Fiancé and I now have to go say cya' later forever to our good little friend
Pic very fucking much related
Give all your pets a nice chin scratch for George tonight

Rest in kot heaven George

>mourning a cat
Why. They're free.
RIP George
I have an indoor city cat that I would like to make feel more fulfilled, so I want to release some male-only crickets for her to hunt down - maybe a couple at a time. Does this sound like a decent idea? I figure crickets make noise so she'll definitely be aware of them and find them, and I'm in boston where crickets don't seem common enough to worry that a breeding partner will be around randomly
They are going to be really annoying, both alive and dead when you have to clean it up.

I'd just put them in the bath tub and under supervision. I don't want to deal with that shit loose in my house.
Lock her in the bathroom with a feeder rat or something.
>bring my new dog to parent's house for christmas
>tell them not to give him scraps from dinner table/kitchen
>they do it anyway
>he now begs every time someone's eating
Is it a lab? If so you are fucked, he wont stop begging.

Why did you leave your dog in the same room as your family during dinner then?

good meme
Do wolves/canines have emotions? It almost looks like they have some bits of actual intelligence now and then when I look at some pictures like this.
Makes me wonder if all the coyotes I've killed are the same or are they just mindless dumb f's.
Dogs have the intelligence of a 2 year old, no one has done definitive tests on coyotes or wolves but it's estimated both are as smart or possibly smarter based on brain size, brain scans, and behavioral observations. At 2, attachment and emotional distress at loss are typically displayed. On top of that all canines, being social animals, display attachment and distress at loss. Oxytocin and other hormones associated with positive emotions are released when canines see or smell other canines or humans they consider are apart of their pack. Canines display periods of depression following stimulus that leads to depression in humans, and administration of anti-depressants is highly effective.
So yes, you're pretty much a fucking monster that kills the equivalent of a 2 year old child and left their family of other 2 year old children to grieve their loss, never really understand what happened or why but just knowing that the family member they loved and had a bonded with is gone.

>It almost looks like they have some bits of actual intelligence now and then when I look at some pictures like this.
>instinctive reactions evolve
>millions of years later consciousness of instinctive reactions evolves.
>what does consciousness of instinctive reactions look like?
>it looks exactly the same as the instinctive reaction
>then how do we tell the two apart?
>WE CAN'T, ALL ANIMALS ARE CONSCIOUS AND HAVE EMOTIONS LOOK AT THE EXPRESSION ON THIS ZOOPLANKTON'S LITTLE FACE!
/an/ isn't intelligent enough to answer this question. It never has been and it probably never will be.

for example these are all instinctive reactions that don't require conscious awareness of an emotion to happen.
anon isn't smart enough to understand that none of these things demonstrates conscious emotions in canines. Because he can't tell the difference between reaction to stimulus and awareness of that same reaction.

How can anybody hate dogs? Even Hitler loved them.
>>2286468
Honest question: Why weren't German Shepherds banned and removed after WWII like everything else associated with Nazis?
GSDs were literally Hitler's favorite breed, how is it still allowed for them to exist when white people are told they're bad people just for being born white which they didn't choose, because of white guilt after the war?
Why the double standard?
>>2286469
they predate Hitler and were very popular before he did those politically incorrect things in europe
>>2286470
The Bellamy Salute also predated Hitler and was very popular before the rise of the third reich. So I ask again, why the double standard for doggos?
>>2286191
Is there a reason not to harm insects?
They have no feelings or emotions, they are just biological robots that move in random pattern and react to food and threat
>>2285091
They're cute and an important part of our food chain

Then we have bigger insectivores like pangolins and anteaters going down the extinction train
Well, its seen a vet, and is still seeing a vet. Its also isolated. Which is both good and bad since its depressing that it's dying alone. Sadder that they haven't put it down yet.
People really need to realize when it's time to let go.

Sometimes ferrets can live long and good lives even with adrenal, but yeah I get what you're saying.
A successful adrenal treatment usually involves the hair growing back, I feel like they should be looking into more options (Lupron maybe?)
The lymphoma is whack though, there are little to no treatments available for that one...
What bugged me about this pic though, and this is why I posted it; That fucking dumb idiot who's offering advice for a medical question and she didn't even read anything that was said.
That's just irresponsible and embarrassing.
Let's have a supply thread.
What's the best bang-for-buck dog food? Been using Sportmix Wholesome, a Tractor Supply exclusive, but is there anything else better for the price?
What training treats do y'all prefer too?
taste of the wild kibble and costco freeze dried livers
I am in NZ and feeding Mighty Mix Frozen Concentrate. Its $90 for 25kgs delivered. How does it look to the more food savvy among you?
>>2282260
Unless I'm missreading that's a ton of fat and fairly low protien. This is for a dog?
Just wanted a separate thread to keep the pet generals more positive.
Complain and rant here about shitty dog owners, dog training, puppy blues, any issues with cats/small animals/reptile ownership.
I'll start:
I hate people who just let their dogs roam neighborhoods. Thankfully it's not a problem where I live now, but back in Burgerland I saw this shit CONSTANTLY. Two months ago my friends lost their 9 week old Beagle pup to some Malamute mix menace that the neighbors couldn't be bothered to watch/walk. Dog ran up and tore her apart in front of the family's eyes.
>>2281740
Family dog who was bought for my kid sister years ago while I wasn't living with them, is 2 years now untrained and highly food aggressive and jumps to scan every surface for food, steals it right in front of anyone's eyes cause she knows she can bite if you try to stop her. Also hates walks. Kind of bugs me that people say cats only love people for food and are soulless aside from how to use people to get more food, they haven't met this dog.
>>2281741
Christ. That dog sounds like a nightmare to be around. I think people forget that while dogs have been domesticated and are basically hardwired to love people, they still need to be trained properly or they have the potential to be SHITS. They bite, they resource guard, they can show fear/aggression to the unfamiliar, they can have high prey drives, they try to get away with things...
>>2281746
She's a sweet dog but it's saddening and upsetting to know it's really all for food. Couldn't give a shit about being around people for much else. Like I said- basically a food obsessed cat in dog body
