>Be me
>be renting a room from a family
>they have another lodger who've comes for the weekend and has come for years
>he has a dog he brings with him
>the dog is a rescued dog
>it hates me for no reason (must remind it of its trauma)
>consistently growls if it even sees me
>barks if i get near
>probably will bite me at some stage

>owner understands and always diffuses situation
>often times the owner is in one room and the dog is in another
>basically confines me to my room because i hate worrying about this animal attacking me if i'm just trying to go to the bathroom or make some food.

what do i do? how do i get it to leave me alone?

I am generally mild-mannered and don't really do anything that could excite a dog. At the owner's encouragement I literally tried befriending it by giving it some food and stroking it and then it started freaking out and barked at me.

I only see it 2-3 days a week, and no matter what I do, it is adamant that it is going to threaten me if it sees me. How can I get it to leave me alone.

i'm not an expert on dogs, but i'm on my second dog, my first was a hotdog that lived to 15 (dachhund, I know the spelling is probably wrong)
it's a white terrier, and I'm thinking about the diet, is dog food really the best option for these animals?

>>
>>2334416
Yes, dog food is the best option. The fuck else would you feed it, hamster food? It's the type and quality of dog food that matters.
>>
you can make your own

i run any recipe by your vet though (or even better a nutritionist if you live near a vet school)
>>
>>2334416

Yes, unless you are willing to get hold of a veterinary nutritionist and formulate a homemade diet with them.

Do not get pulled in by the fads of homemade or raw diets online. Unless it has been formulated by a veterinary nutritionist it will almost certainly be insufficient/over-do some certain nutrients.

Raw (especially whole pray) can and does cause impactions. The risk is not worth it.

Your best bet if you don't fancy phaffing about with paying money for a nutritionist over the dog's lifetime is to buy an AFCO complete dog food- legally they have to cover all a dogs nutrient's needs. After that, go with whatever your dog suits/your budget suits.

This little faggot here keeps biting me whenever I try to pet him. I know nothing about birds /an/. How do I train him to let me hold him and pet him?

>non mammalian pets
You brought this on yourself.
>>
I didn't buy him btw. My sister found him in the street. She posted a notice on facebook and the owner met her and let her keep him. She can't have done to good of a job training him.
>>
Birds are not mammals, they don't lick each other and don't like to be pet.
Petting a female bird's back would tigger a mating response. Preening their face feathers would be also a romantic gesture.

The best way to bond with a bird is to eat together.

Also if you would like to build trust, look up youtube videos on how to train your bird to perch on your finger.

Do not grab your bird. Do you know what grabs birds? The talons of a falcon or the jaws of a fox. Birds don't like to be grabbed.

is it safe to give your pet mouse a wine cork or say, a pencil with the graphite removed if it's non toxic? she needs something to chew on besides the bars on her cage. i know treats meant for chewing are ideal, but i'm just wondering for something for today that i might have around the house. i mean, i already gave her the cork and i can't tell if she's just chewing on it or eating it or what.

Could always give her a pair of wooden chopsticks to gnaw on.
>>
>>2334311
i haven't got anything like that. i'm just wondering if i should take the cork away. i'm pretty sure a cork's okay for a rat, but i don't know. for some reason it being a mouse freaks me out. it's my first mouse, and just seems like it'd die easier. i'm probably over thinking it.
>>
>>2334314
I would take the cork away. It's not something to effectively gnaw on. They need something rough (and brittle) like bark and not something spongey that can obstruct their digestive tract.

So. My dog won't catch food out of the air.

He did a couple times at first while trying to teach him to. But now he just runs away a little bit after I say "catch".

I think he knows what catch means but he just treats it as a warning because he doesn't like having food thrown at his face. That's exactly what it looks like is happening here. Before he caught the food those few times he would just let it hit him in the face.

Any advice on how to get him to snap food out of the air?

>>
>>2334158
I just dropped food on my dog's head and wouldn't let him pick it up off the ground until he started to catch it. He became really good at it, he wouldn't even open his mouth when I first started
>>
maybe you could try throwing it from the side. so when he doesn't catch it, it doesn't hit him in the face.

I do this all the time. My advice is to not fuck with deer in rut, (obviously) avoid skunks and groundhogs are meaner than raccoons.
I've grabbed foxes, raccoons, opossums, etc but if you get bit, go get your rabies shot just in case. One because you deserve the pain for being stupid and two it's not worth dying over. Opossums are total babies though. Even touching their tongue with a stick or a finger not once out of the many have tried to bite.

Only got bit once but I'm my defense it was to wrangle a raccoon out of my attic rather than running after wild animals for no reason.

I don't remember that when I played.
I do however remember the river being so jam packed with animals it lagged like nuts, that pair of species of super dino going on a massive rampage at that river which was the only place you could even find a ton of species and in general it being impossible to tame a few species solo even on the easiest of settings.
Also how useless the fastest mount was due to the extremely low health that made it a one shot kill that would die even from small jumps so why even bother. Did it improve at all or did they just cram even more new species and call it an update?

The girl I'm seeing is really big into peonies. I wanna surprise her with some on our next date but I have no clue where to find them. So where could I buy peonies?

not a question of money here, is a matter of taste, in my opinin give her orchids, but not just any orchid, go ahead and find the odest most ankward looking one, send her a statement.
Its a polite way to show her you are willing to go incredible lenghts and weird ways just to give her the old sausage while also proclaiming that you are a men and wont tolerate her pleeb manners.

First time in /an/, people.

I just saw this spider. Very little, maybe about 1 cm, is always running away from me, and it doesn't seem to care about the fruit flies it just passed by.

Is it dangerous? Should I let it enjoy life in my house?

I live in the south of Spain, in the city. It's kinda common to see here and there a little spider, but this time I was able to take a nice picture of it.

It's not a brown recluse, so its fine. Whatever you do don't kill it. Spiders are bros getting rid of pesky insects.

Also, are fish/shellfish-based canned foods really bad for cats? I do have 1 cat that had a UTI a while back so i want to be careful.
>>
>>2333261
>BEST wet cat foods
I'd say brands like Weruva, Bravo, Ziwi peak, and the like

>DECENT wet cat foods
Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance, Orijen, and so forth. Generally what is commercially known as high end is usually only mid grade

>WORST wet cat foods (and why they suck)
Friskies, Fancy feast, 9-lives, nearly anything you see ads for or see at wal mart all suck fro pretty much the same reasons; fillers that cats can't digest well in the first place. The first ingredient in these are usually a grain or some other filler. Junk food for cats.

>will feeding only wet food really dirty their teeth too bad? I don't want to feed dry

No, it is a myth that dry food cleans their teeth. Even if chewing the kibble DID clean their teeth (which it doesn't, even for dog foods unless the food is specifically for tartar control), cats don't chew their food long enough to make any sort of cleaning action happen. So it's a complete myth, dry food is simply all around worse than wet food.
