Buy a handgun.

Often time shotguns (unless you have a class 3 and can have short barrel shotguns) are clumsy, easily fought over, and not very tactical going around corners.

Take a handgun safety course first, Then start with a .22, then 9mm or .40, Then if you don't have girly wrists but a 10mm or .45 caliber handgun full size handgun.

I would suggest Glock, HK, or Smith and Wesson.


Laser sights and night sights are very important for home defense. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to aim in the dark until your standing there in the dark with you handgun

If you're just doing it as a hobby, your artistic skill really means nothing. It's for personal expression and enjoyment. Totally worth doing it if you feel like you're getting something out of it.

Trying to go into graphic design is a waste. No one wants to pay money for your shitty doodles. Do you really want to commit that much time and effort to finding out you can't make it in the field?

yeah, it's worth it if you just do it for fun. if you want to make it your career you'd have to draw 8h a day to get good just like every other working person.
till then, learn the basics. learn to see in shapes, learn to understand lightning, learn to do gradual shading, learn anatomy, learn to draw what you see instead of what you think you see, learn to not draw symbols. also, go to /ic/ but don't waste too much time there. good luck and have fun! btw, blank paper, an eraser and a pencil is EVERYTHIG you need to start. no, you donmt need a tablet. no, you don't need this or that fancy scetchbook, no, you don't need charcoal and this or that fancy pen. it won't gloss over the fact you lack the fundamentals. get that straight first and then upgrade gradually. your equipment will evolve with your skills.

I think learning photoshop and how to use a bamboo pad could be beneficial. I honestly believe that physical mediums require many, many years of practice, and aren't something to pick up just because you're bored.

The driving part was easy, I failed the written my first time though.

Just pretend you're driving miss daisy, and use the Hank Hill trick of pretending theirs and egg underneath your pedals, to encourage smooth easy driving.

Use your blinker, use your neck to look before you turn, and if you catch yourself going over the speed limit, just let off the gas, and let the car slow itself down, no abrupt braking, unless you're going downhill and want to ride the pedal to help slow you down a bit, but it should always be smooth.

Well in most cases I just start disagreeing with some important/famous user or a moderator. Imho they reply in a rude way or insult me themselves before I do.
And in some chats I did what I consider to be minor stuff like posting some ascii thing (like a lenny face or some one line drawing that makes sense in the context). It's weird because other users post "nigger" and literal ascii penises and don't get banned or anything.
There's a site where I got banned more than once but I don't get why they always said all the fault was mine when I'm 100% sure I was provoked into arguing. Random average users don't get into this trouble.
I do read the rules but they are usually very vague.
Again it sucks because I'm usually genuinely answering and helping new users when others are just rude to them for being new.

Get syllabi for the classes you're taking next semester and read the material up front. Your classes will be piss easy because they will just be review.

Ever considered writing? Literally anyone can do it and I've found that people who have never tried it because they think they'd be no good are actually quite good. Try writing! Short stories, a full novel, or a play or screenplay. I believe every person has an inherent desire and skill to be a storyteller in some way or another. Try it.

In that vein, try YouTube. I'm serious - that's a TON of fun. Do some vlogs, do some skits, even make a short film. Extremely rewarding. I might be biased, though - I've been YouTubing for 8 years and I'm about to graduate from film school.

It's worth it.

Japanese is really hard and it's easy to get frustrated. A language more similar to english would be a better idea. Having a motivation to learn the language helps a lot though, so if the only one you care about is japanese it might be the best choice anyway.

Japanese is a *very* difficult language to learn. Its grammar structure is weird, its language and alphabet system are both wonky, and as far as your love of anime, anime VAs speak way different from your average japanese person.

Most people even those who are actually living in japan for business or whatever, take several years to get fluent in Japanese, compare that to like 6 months before you're good with most romance languages, then you're just working out your accent.
