Hi, i cant find any reviews of this tv. Its entry-level 1080p HDR TV. I want max 40 inch HDR TV (there isnt any 4K @ this size) And i was thinking if it will be any better than my 25" PC monitor
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I wouldn't recommend using any television as a monitor. I've tried It once, probably since it was a Westinghouse TV that's why it seemed like a terrible option.
>>
>>62197209
Look up a manual and read it carefully.

I have an older KDL-32L5000 that I use as a monitor. Since mine is older the display is actually 720p natively but it can accept a 1080p hdmi signal and downscale it internally. However, IF it's a computer signal (no idea how it even detects this) then it doesn't accept a 1080p signal.

This one is much newer so I kind of doubt it will have a problem like that but if you are using it as a PC monitor then you should be aware that it may perform at different specs than when it's used as a TV.

I work for an IT company, and we have both business and public clients. Today I got a callout from a new business client who was saying that their PCs were shutting down all the time and wanted the problem fixed. Unfortunately I can't post actual photos for legal reasons, but pic related is essentially what I found in one of them.

Tell me about your IT horror stories or just post tech gore.

Also seen pic related quite a few times. And crickets the size of my hand, i didn't even know they get this big in slavlands. Laptop that cats peed on.

As for business clients, i think everywhere's the same. Someone fucks with cables, someone gives out passwords they're weren't supposed to, someone performs a heimlich maneuver to get rid of a paper jam and acts surprised if you tell them how fucked the printer is.
>>
Best business based one I had was when they were having server issues. Turned out one of the new guys thought one of the server boxes was running too hot and poured water into it.

If you want help:
>Assemble parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>State the budget for your build (and country if not USA)
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
How to assemble a PC, select components & more (outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

CPUs:
No i5 unless discounted
>G4560 - poverty-tier builds
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R3 1300x - Good stop-gap between the 1500x and the 1200, only get a 1400 if you absolutely need multithreading
>R5 1500x - Good but up to 1600 if you can
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; 1600x if you want higher stock clocks
>R7/Used Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/VM/mixed use; Not for just gaming

GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 or Vega 56 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games
>Good fucking luck even getting a VEGA right now

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits a lot from high speed RAM

General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor
Fuck miners

>G4560 - poverty-tier builds
The G4560 literally costs 150 bucks on Newegg, and 85 on Amazon. Replace it with the AM4 Bristol Ridge CPUs, it has better iGPU performance, better upgrade path, is overclockable and is a quad core for cheaper.

font rendering is technology.

what are your favorite fonts? what fonts do you want to see used less? I for one like Lucida Grande for texts.

pic related, I don't want to use it but actually need a font with its use case (friendly, informal, a font that normies crave).

Terminus for terminals, Liberation/Deja Vu for most else.
I prefer oldschool rendering where there is no antialiasing, but outside of monospace terminal fonts I can't really find any.

new ultra expensive i9 CPUs once again have thermal interface material between the die (the CPU proper) and the IHS (heat spreader, the silver cap on top). This is bad because the TIM (JewJizz) is super fucking cheap, and causes poor temps because it doesn't conduct heat for shit.

The alternative to JewJizz is to solder the IHS to the die, which is far superior. AMD solders all their current CPUs, and we hope to fuck they don't switch to JewJizz.
