So, for the past many years, AMD was stagnant to the point of irrelevancy. Now with their latest platform, they are again a viable CPU for performance and gaming enthusiasts. I had switched off to Intel after the Phenom II became too old for me, so I am a bit unversed on the new AMD stuff.

What is /g/'s take?
Is AMD value king now?
What are the benefits of the AMD CPUs?
What are the benefits of the Intel CPUs?

I have recently recommended a seventh gen i7 to a colleague, but I'm curious now in retrospect if I should have looked at the new AMD stuff before blindly telling someone to get the 7700k

I know you guys keep up on hardware a lot more than I do, so looking for some feedback, discussion, arguments, etc

we still dont know how psp works sounds like a botnet free but who the fuck knows
>>
Best thing to do is look for benchmarks and review articles already out there on the subject.
AMD and Intel enthusiast chips are fairly even, but they vary slightly in different areas.

Basically, what I am saying is, just fucking google it.

I thought this guy was the alpha male idol of /g/ with a deep voice trying to stomp goolag and microcuck to the ground.
Turns out he is a high pitched manlet screeching about pay toilets and MUH GNU+LINUX!

Yeah stallman is literally a commie iirc. The guy is retarded. If you unironically worship him you are retarded too. As a meme he is funny and amusing but seriously, the guy thinks any non free software is an abomination.

Don't install so many features of it then... you probably had multiplatform support selected. I only have C#, ASP.NET, Javascript, node.js, Web support, and other stuff I can't remember and it is 12gb.

Dinner is the same as lunch

I've always used uBlock Origin and stuff like it but finally decided to install Pi-hole. I put it on an Ubuntu server (16.04 LTS) and, with Pi-hole running, the VM is using 65MB RAM.

>mfw people on /g/ are always saying Pi-hole has bad performance
Maybe it used to, but I read they updated it with a daily cron job that flushes the logs to help performance.

What's your guys experience with Pi-hole?

People says pi-hole is slow?
I bought a Pi Zero W just for it and it works pretty good, i dont have to use resource hog and buggy adblockers anymore.
What other similar (not as in similar purpose, but similar usefulness) projects are there for Raspberry Pi? also, is there a way to inject userscripts globally to all my network? i wanna ditch Violent Monkey too

Just an FYI that within 2 years, Microsoft will be killing Windows 10 Pro, and consolidate Windows to two versions: Windows 10 for Home, and Windows 10 for Business.

Windows 10 for Home will only come in OEM form, forcing you to buy a new computer, (or pirate it yes I know there will be ways around it and it doesn't matter since 99.9% of computer users won't do it), and Windows 10 for Business will exclusively be on a subscription basis.

Win10 for Home will continue to have caps on how much RAM your can have in your system, how many cores your CPU can have, you will not be able to join it to a domain environment, and you will only be able to install applications from the Windows Store.

Windows RT never died, they've been prepping the model to replace all home editions of Windows 10. In the Microsoft future, you either play in their walled garden in the Windows store, and if you're "some kind of power user who installs from random people's websites who even does that lol", then you'll need to buy Windows for Business.

Right now, Win10 Home caps you at 128GB RAM, and 256 cores. These seem large but they will not move for Win10 Home. With Threadripper and i9 finally starting to move the ball, Microsoft is preparing to let these become commonplace so they can control the speed at which the hardware market grows as well.

Why bother manufacturing 300 Core i9s or Threadrippers in five or so years when Microsoft won't let them run on Home computers? This is their model. They will control the industry.

Low on precious screen real estate, or busy massaging your carpal tunnel
wrists damaged by waving a mouse around like an idiot?

> Freedom from the mouse
With any decent twm, you're hand almost never has to leave the home row.

> High customizability
All well known twms are built with customizability in mind, either through a
config file, command line options, or in the case of dwm, editing the source
code directly.

> Efficient use of screen space
because each new window will split the screen one level further, the available
screen space is used optimally (yes, even when using gaps).

using a tiling window manager forgoes the need for a bloated DE, simply
install any necessary software on top of the window manager to build exactly
the system you want with no cruft!

> Resources
i3wm - https://i3wm.org/
Babby's first twm, easily customizable from a central config file, has sane
defaults. Usable out of the box.

Xmonad - http://xmonad.org/
Written and configured using haskell, so knowledge of haskell is recommended.
Highly extensible, stable, and dynamic.

dwm - http://dwm.suckless.org/
Dynamic Window Manager written in C.
Slightly higher learning curve than most other twms, basic knowledge of C is
necessary for configuration as it takes place in the header file. Very
lightweight.

awesomewm - https://awesomewm.org/
Supports lots of features out of the box, less initial configuration necessary than some others.
Shares the concept of tags with dwm which can be more flexible than workspaces

ratposion - http://www.nongnu.org/ratpoison/
Ratpoison is a simple Window Manager with no fat library dependencies, no fancy graphics, no window decorations.

Do any of these tiling window managers play nicely with touch input?
>>
>>62191207
While it is probably possible to configure in something pretty feature rich like i3 or awesome, i think using touch controls is going to take your hand away from the keyboard even more than the mouse would. Might as well just use a stacking wm made for touch like gnome

A meta thread per board is allowed by chinkmoot.

So listen up everyone, the mod Troid aka yournamehere have officially made it a rule to not make fun of Indians on /g/ because it is racist. This is clearly an infringement to our board culture but I thought my fellow /g/entooman should know so they don't get banned for dumb subjective reasons. If you don't believe me, feel free to ask him on IRC and he will confirm it. Also, yes, Troid is that famous mod who claims to hate shitposting but turns a blind eye when it's his friends doing it. Good luck anons, may you all be safe.
