Don't stop learning OP. If you're still looking for engineering jobs, try to take online classes, even if it's just review. Do projects in your (ample) spare time that show you're genuinely interested and still using your brain. It will give you a solid answer when an interviewer asks what you've been doing since graduation.

Whats the deal with crazy chicks?
I'm like a magnet for them.
I'm objectively smart (comp-sci major), have good social circle, well off (not rich by any means but doing pretty good) and am reasonably good looking, but only seem to attract batshit-insane girls.

I definately dont have a problem talking with girls, and i talk to 'normal' girls all the time, but none seem to show interest romantically/sexually. The ones I allways seem to attract and get with are batshit insane (bi-polar, borderline personality, suicidal, sociopaths).

Don't get me wrong, some are seriously hot, but I get to the point of literal exhaustion dealing with their insane bullshit. How do i stop it? How do i stop attracting imminent mental patients?

talk to them for a while before hooking up. when you find out they're fucking crazy get rid of them. just be selective.

Maybe you are waiting for women to approach you. In our culture, guys usually approach women so if it happens the other way around, those women are less likely to be 'normal'.

Adjust your expectations. Learn the subtleties of flirting. Stop waiting to be approached.

>Join various dating sites (tinder, okcupid, pof, etc) just too see what's out there
>spend close to two years using it with little to no success
>99.9% of all matches/profile views/likes etc are either fake accounts from people trying to scam me or uggos or generally much older ad desperate ladies that I unfortunately can't look past appearances to give a chance
>continue using said sites, even paying money for the premium services, and try various ways to make myself seem at least someone more appealing to no avail

How do I come to terms with the fact that I am physically unattractive to most woman and that if I don't seriously work on my personality, including that fact that I basically have social phobia which is why I bothered with online dating instead of meatspace dating; that I will probably die alone?

Okay listen. I am an attractive guy. I don't get talked to on those fucking sites either. Nothing to do with your looks.
Just go out and socialize. That's the best way I've found to meet somebody.

I am highly motivated, intelligent, creative, and disciplined. I know value and morality is subjective. That said I believe in establishing a set of values and living by them. I believe it is the responsibility of those who are able to provide for others and society. Social media and trivialities are a waste of our humanity.

My question is if, for the sake of work, I should spend my life as a bachelor, or wait until I'm older to get married and produce offspring, or just be free with having relationships now. My human nature yearns for a family and children, but at the same I am only one person and the denying myself this for the sake of productivity would hardly be of significance. It is unlikely my children will particularly capable given regression to the mean. Even if I may not turn out to be anything special, I feel a single life is hardly significant and wholly disposable.

Op, Im on my second year of trying to answer the question of whether to stay alone and work or have a family and settle.
Every fiber of my being says to work for my passion and spread my work for the world. But the nights are unbearably lonely sometimes, but I currently have a 4.0 GPA and no student debt yet in college.
At the end op, when we are on our deathbeds and move from a thinking thing to a part of the earth, we are alone. So I guess however we choose to live only amounts to whatever you believe in.
I know I didn't really answer you question, but I figured the thoughts of someone in the same boat might be beneficial.
Take care op.

Why? Also what trivialities?

>I feel a single life is hardly significant and wholly disposable.
Again, why?

> It is unlikely my children will particularly capable given regression to the mean.
The average person now would look like a fucking genius compared to the average person from a century ago.

As for your question, the answer is not necessary either or. Assuming you find the right partner and got the right job, it's perfectly doable to have both. Do you even have a person to have kids with to wonder about it?

So, I met this guy online. He's super sweet, smart and funny. He also has a stable career. I went on a date with him, and he was a good conversationalist, treated my right and payed for the meal. However, one thing was wrong. He was short. Like really short. Probably 5'9" or so. So, my question is: how do I let him down easy. He keeps messaging me about going on another date, but I just can't be seen again with a guy that short. My girlfriends would probably make fun of me for it. What do I do?

I want to die. I am convinced I will never be happy. I've never been loved by anyone in my life. Everyone who has said they loved me has either treated me like shit or ignored me. I have no hobbies or interests. I'm not good at anything. Nothing ever seems to go right for me. There's so much more wrong with my life that I could write about but I won't bore you.

How do I actually get the courage to kill myself? I want it so bad yet it seems impossible to actually make myself do it. What gives? I don't want to fucking suffer for the rest of my natural life. I want it to end. Any advice?

Sell all your stuff, buy a gun, travel the world with the rest of the money, if by the time you run out of money and you still don't want to live, eat the barrel and pull the trigger.

The only thing I could sell is my guitar and I'd only get like $200 for it. I'm 20, I live with my dad, and I only make $10 an hour.

You can get a gun for that much, go check >>>/trv/ for tips on train hopping and other methods of low cost travel and boarding.

Honestly you can also just jump in front of a train and forgo the gun entirely

Hi /adv/,
I'm not sure what to do about this. Basically, I got an email from my course convenor saying he wants to meet with me at some point next week to discuss potential plagiarism in an essay submitted a few weeks ago. All I'm guilty of doing that I can think of is taking the main point of the conclusion on one site (reworded it and put my own spin on it, as well as using all my own evidence to get there) and borrowing a few sources from the bottom of the page in an attempt to flesh out my bibliography since it was a bit thin.

Basically, this thing's worth 30% and I don't want to lose the marks (it already got graded) but I'm not sure what approach to take in the meeting. Complete honesty would still be revealing that I borrowed a whole lot of sources to make my essay look better researched (only did this because I was really pressed for time) and I'm not sure how far this goes towards getting fucked for plagiarism.

Anyway, advice would be greatly appreciated, I have about a week to prep for this and no idea what to do.

Cheers lads

Sorry bud, that is textbook plagiarism. Best bet is to understand the material THOROUGHLY and at must explain you took inspiration from it. Hopefully you properly cited what you stole from, otherwise you've no chance. You'll be lucky to not be expelled.

all but video games and watching tv
>>
Team sports, period. It'll force you to interact with other people, which could lead to friendships, it'll give you shit to talk about with existing family/friends, and perhaps most importantly, it's good for your health. Plus it looks good to potential employers. Shows that you're active, likely in decent health and a team player

Find a sport you like the look of and see if there's a local club you can join in. From my experience everyone is friendly as fuck and don't make you feel bad for being shit at the game

Most normies watch tv and play games daily...

My brother dropped out of college today. His GPA was shit, he wasn't going to very important advisor meetings and was likely failing a few of his classes. When he didn't answer his phone for a few days my mother made the decision to drive across state lines to bring him home.

I think he may have a drinking problem, brought on by depression. He was a decent high school athlete, tried to replicate success in college, but it didn't work out. I think that really ate into his self-worth. He also gained a lot of weight, which gave him a lack of confidence in meeting girls.

My question is this: Have any of you ever successfully turned your life around from dropping out of college? Was it a good decision? Did any of you ever quit drinking? Did it take?

Thank you in advance!

I can speak for others and I can say most who dropped out because of grades usually were never able to turn their lives around. They improved the bad conditions they were in after dropping out but never improved beyond their fall. I will say that it's only a bad decision to drop out depending on how far in the program your brother was. If he was anything past the first semester of junior year he is not going to recover from that any time soon. But I will admit, if someone wants to drop out of school, the earlier, the better.

I met this girl on tinder. I had pretty much given up on tinder so I changed my bio to something about wanting to meet people in my major to study. I match with this girl and she tells me she's having trouble with diff eq and wants to study. I get her number and agree to meet up with her to work on physics and diff eq. Initially I act pretty weird because I'm anxious as fuck but we begin to really hit it off when we find out we listen to similiar music. We talk for hours in between working on practice problems and I have a great time and manage to relax a lot. After this I text her a couple times asking about music or her midterms but only get one word responses. Monday I asked her if she wants to meet up again before finals and we agree on Thursday.
Anyways, what do you think? Does she just want to be friends and are my expectations unreasonable? We really hit it off and I was hoping we would hang out more.

you're probably coming on too strongly. girls like a bit of a chase so don't over do it with the texting. that doesn't mean go cold on her, but don't text her too often either, or she may feel like you're being overbearing.

I'm confused about my sexuality right now.

I'm a 23 yo guy, been attracted to guys since I was 11. But now I suddenly like a girl? I don't want to be all muh identity, but I'm worried that if I do act on it it'll be a mistake, and if I don't, it'll still be a mistake.

What does /adv/ recommend?

why would it be a mistake on both cases?

If I act on it:
a) could deteriorate a friendship with this girl
b) i might not even fuckin like it

If I don't:
a) i would miss out on someone's company i genuinely enjoy
b) it might turn out i would've liked it
