What's the best way to emulate? I just want to play retro games and I'm not interested in collecting at all. How can one achieve as little input lag as possible through emulation and the us of LCDs?
>>3659401
Input lag is mostly made up bullshit, so lardasses can justify their fire hazards. Just get a decent pc.
>>3659401
Download an emulator and roms then begin playing. Hope this helps.
>>3659407
I mostly agree with this, but any time I try emulating Super Mario World I always notice a delay between pressing a button and the action happening on-screen. It never seems to be an issue with any other game...
You guys realize that the ROM chips used in NES cartridges only have an expected data retention of ~80 years, right?
All authentic NES games will die within your lifetime.

What am I in for? Is it s good as people make it out to be?
Starts out a little slow but picks up about a few hours in. It's a good rpg, but I wouldn't say it's number one.
It's long and very grindy and slow paced, but it looks nice and has decent music. The characters are alright if a little boring and the storyline is very somber and kind of anxious and depressing and not fun at all. Mechanically you have a lot of content with all these masters and dragon forms and the gene system, and about 90% of it is completely unnecessary and adds absolutely nothing to the actual combat except for more poorly balanced mostly graphical content.
Breath of Fire 4 is better in literally every way.
The pace is slooooow, as in even slower than normal for the genre.
That feel.

I feel like a helpless being not worthy of being manipalated in even the most minor scheme of all.

Faggot here, what makes pic related so bad?
>Level scaling

Does being gay make you enjoy the game?
>>3656685
- Story is very confusing and relies too heavily on implications and foreshadowing.
- Game is ridiculously unbalanced and breaking it is trivial
- A lot of plot points seem to be complete ass-pulls, and several are actual ass-pulls. A plot device relating to amnesia is a complete asspull unless you read a rather out-of-the-way terminal's data.
- The characters are pretty meh as well.
So it's a shoddy story and trivial gameplay.
For the first time ever I am emulating an arcade game, Tetris the Grandmaster2.
Is it degenerate to play this game with a PS3 D-pad? Does playing this game with an arcade stick make that big of a difference? I'm not going to buy an arcade stick for a single game, I am just curious if anyone here has played a TGM game the fundamental way.
This has also opened up my interest in other arcade games that I have missed out on.
Arcade general
lol it's a fucking tetris, it doesn't matter what you play it with.
I've played it in MAME with a keyboard and on a real cab with a joystick. Just do what you're comfortable with. PS3 controller is fine.
>>3656331
keyboard is probably the best ngl

Zelda's missing. And yes, they're RPGs.

Yep, anyway the chart is not mine.
Bump for interest
It's raining outside Edition.
Haven't drawn in a while, so I'm kind of rusty, and the best cure is to draw draw draw. Join in and drop a request or two, I'll be fulfilling as many as I can for a couple of hours.

My parent's wanted an NES Mini for Christmas, and I know all about Nintendo's shipping "shortages" and scalpers and all that nonsense.
I told her about making one myself with every game using the Retropie/Raspberry Pi.
So far, I'm doing alright: I got the parts, got RetroPie loaded, installed a bunch of ROMs on the thing.
There's one problem though: all these ROMs have filenames like "Super Mario Bros 3 (U) (a1) [!]" in them, and thusly, all the lists of names have all the shitty (U)[!](1.01) shit in them too. Very unclean.
So I'm trying this scraping feature which I assume is to compile all the ROMs from a database so that each entry has a nice thumbnail and descriptive text with it, instead of just a cold, boring list of games with jarbled punctuation at the end.
Going through the process and it's taking a while, and I'm following the Steven Selph's Scraper method within the command prompt.
This shit keeps happening left and right (pic related)
I just spent like 3 hours doing it the normal way from within EmulationStation, and when it finally finished it didn't yield ANY results.
Why not just get it working with the NES games before you worry about this other shit? Why does it matter if Gameboy roms work or not?
>>3654269
I just hit "All ROMs". Prooooooobably could have saved some time by not doing that, but still, question remains why are so many entries coming up as "hash not found" or "image: unknown format"?
I got these ROM collections from piratebay, which I know shouldn't be the best way, but it was the only way I knew how other than to spend hours upon hours downloading individual ones from emuparadise or someshit.
>>3654262
Just set up retro arch
OK, maybe I'm losing my fucking marbles here, but I could have SWORN that when I was a kid that I did the Lete River Exploit for FF3 SNES withOUT a turbo controller.
It's like 15 years later and I'm trying to cheat by leaving this bitch on overnight and I can't do it because when I get the "Which way?" prompt holding down the A button won't push "Up"
just emulate it senpai
>>3651102
call me old fashioned, I just can't play these old classics on a keyboard. and if i'm gonna shell out money for a USB SNES controller I might as well shell out the same amount of money for a turbo controller, right?
why would you even level here when you don't have any espers and thus no level up bonuses?

Do we know for sure how much more powerful the PS2 was than the Dreamcast?
The Dreamcast seems like such an amazing machine, but it feels stuck between N64 and PS2 in my opinion. Is there anything on Dreamcast that really makes you question how much it can do compared to the PS2?
Shenmue is out since it's a tiny room game where small sections load at a time instead of massive areas.
PS2 has a worse video chip but a slightly faster processor.
Yu Suzuki went on record to claim that the PS2 could never run Shenmue II without downgrades.

Regardless of the respect I have for the man, I can't exactly take the word of somebody who's entire career up to that point has been near exclusively on sega based devices.

I dunno if I trust Yu Suzuki on that.

We are not taking part in the Wacky Races, as far as I know.
We have yet to decide what we will wear.
We have yet to decide where we will be staying, ideally some-where with an outlet for us to charge out games.
