It's time to fill out your warranty card. Do you have a 286 or 386?

386 :3

I never filled out that shit
>>3670251
I filled them out a few times but then never needed them.
The retro community seems large enough that a proper retro console could actually be manufactured now, and actual games could be created for the system and purchased like the old days.
With FPGA's, I don't see why a new 16-bit console hasn't been made in the recent years with new cartridges.
OUYA was such a hit!
>>3670186
Anyone can download an emulator and new homebrew ROMs are being made all the time. For free.
>>3670186
I'd collect it. As long as it were an actual 16 bit machine and not just a cheap Android computer, of course.
>don't have a working CRT but have a Famicom
>don't have an everdrive so I can't play any games on it besides the original SMB
>don't have a USB controller to play the games on an emulator even if I wanted to
>don't want to spend like $300 on an AVS and an Everdrive because HDMI is not what the developers intended
Why is retro gaming so retardedly obtuse outside of a few popular systems? I would need to spend a minimum of $175 just to play all the games for a 33 year old system through the shittiest video connection, and the price only raises with every other option besides emulation.
>>3670140
Dude just re-read what u just wrote in its entirety.
You have to spend 175 so you can play EVERY game the system has to offer, and your mad cuz expensive stuff keeps getting more expensive?
I mean you are just one big first world problem.
Emulate the games and play them on a crt wtf u so mad about kid.
>trade famicom for nes
>play nes games
it's that easy

>don't want to spend like $300 on an AVS and an Everdrive because HDMI is not what the developers intended

Let's Play Wizards & Warriors. This video game is pretty rare, and some people were curious about it, so I decided to do a lets play for anyone who is interested. This is my first "Let's Play" so please bear with me as I work out my editing issues and recording issues as I go from video to video. Comments and Questions will be well received and welcome!
What do you play around Christmas time? Any /vr/ Christmas stories?
I beat Gannon on Christmas Eve 1989, so it has been a tradition to play through once a year. I also like to play the winter levels in SNES Donkey Kong on Christmas day. They seem comfy and slow to me.
>>3670115
No stories really, not that big into Christmas. But I do play Blue Stinger in December for it's over the fucking top christmas stuff and because it's an awesome game.
Every year, I start a turn based rpg at the beginning of December and try to beat it by New Year. Sort of a way to unwind from working retail. This year I'm trying to finish Phantasy Star.
Toy commander on the dreamcast wIll allways be my Christmas game.
>Rent game
>Can't beat a single level
What's her name /vr/? Pic related's one of those for me.
Kid Icarus :(
>>3670071
Bumping with OC, mine would have to be Ecco the Dolphin besides the first two levels.
>>3670071
tomb raider 1, had to rent it a handful of times then finally look through a guide to beat the later levels.
being a dumb baby with no internet was brutal back in the day
>click clock woods
>jolly roger bay
>hellfire peaks

>banjo kazooie is never coming back
Life's unfair
THere need to be more games where you can turn the main character(s) into a washing machine.

I recently bought a pricey Japanese Karnov strategy guide.
It's not actually an art book, but it has some cool illustrations. It's part of the Nes Perfect Capture series.
I have a problem. I bought Crash Bandicoot 3 off of Amazon, and when I play it, it keeps pausing and un-pausing.
What do I do?
>>3669698
Unplug your controller, and plug it back in? Maybe you have a bad connection. Beyond that, I have no idea.
>>3669716
My controller works fine on all the other games I have.
>>3669718
Is the disc badly scratched?
ITT: Obscure consoles
Poland represent.
Talk about obscure, the company behind Halcyon went bankrupt days before the official release. It sold for $2500 in 1985 money and that's with the company taking a big financial hit with every console produced. While there are a good hundred of these things circulating due to store owners keeping their limited stock of consoles, they may have never officially sold a single unit.
It only had 2 games, a meh football simulator and one great game, the definitive version of Thayer's Quest.
>>3669626
That's just a Famiclone though, isn't it? That doesn't count.

hell yes I love some ace combat I would love to talk about my favorite 5 but the mod would have me taken out and shot for talking about a game from the ps2

This is highly dubious vr. 4Chan doesn't discuss wRPGs as much as jRPGs. Is this because they are objectively speaking inferior, or is it just a bias towards japanese culture?
If you want to talk about crpgs start a discussion or go to rpg codex
>>3669359
I like both.
>or is it just a bias towards japanese culture?
It's not, as wRPGs are still discussed here, lurk more.
But if you're gonna bitch about japanese culture on a fucking chan, I recommend you read the history of 4chan.
Also, while the founder of 4chan is American, the current owner is japanese (no less than the old admin of 2ch, where moot got the idea).
So basically 4chan is currently a japanese website.
can we make early 3D games thread?

Don't jump when he's looking!
Gotta love those shaded flat polygons.
A bit late for that.
You can make a 3D game that runs on 70s or 80s hardware.

What's the difference between the new and original segacd
>>3669164
AIWA mega CD player with 32x add-on.
i like original one with original sega cd the most, genesis cdx is close second,
32x doesn't look good on anything
Why does this game get such a bad rep? I thought it was quite good.
Because we didn't get Ed Kann's original version.
>>3669102
Because people expected it to be Secret of Mana 2. I thought the game was solid.
I absolutely love it, worse part is the dialogues and the alchemy system being unbalanced
I think the game could be much much better if those things were fixed
