Never tried a dungeon crawler before, what are some good ones to get started with.
General dungeon crawler discussion as well.
>>3663690
You posted a pretty good one
>>3663690
You gotta play Lands of Lore
It's a fantastic dungeon crawler that is more casual then most, but that makes it all the more easy to get into, plus it has some great voice acting and an awesome story.
You can get it in a two pack on gog for 6 bucks, and that comes with the equally awesome (but different) sequel.
Also Patrick Stewart is in the game, and he doesn't just up and dies at the start like a certain other game.
Might and Magics are good starting games but they're more open.
who else used to play HE games back in the day?
>>3663580
Played a good majority of them
Over and over
Repetition was a foreign concept to whatever year old me.
Spy Fox was the best, simply because it switched up the scenarios each play through, which kept things fresh.

What is your favorite games to watch speedruns of/speedrun yourself? My personal favorites are Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, Super Metriod, and Portal.
MOTHERFUCKING FREDDI FISH. i mean just look at this shit, pure fucking skill.

speedruns are cool, but why is it that everyone who does it looks like an autist?

Sega CD version for the music.

The 64 version was so over the top. I could never play any of the others afterwards. RR64 a best

Looks like a brutal and mindless game for Chad and Tyrone to enjoy.
Higher minds prefer more civilized games.
Lufia 2
Hands down.
>>3663331
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Those 2 are what I would consider as close to perfect as you can get.
Then from here:
Final Fantasy 5 is great if you love customization andd the FF job system
Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals if you like some more in depth puzzles in your jrpg.
Then theres stuff like Tactics Ogre; let us cling together and front mission if you like more strategy/sim rpgs.
>Quickly, everybody recommend the most common and well-known RPGs for the SNES!
What's the best handheld for emulation on the market right now?
Modded PSP
Literally. Fuck that Chinese garbage
>>3662190
>unable to play many SNES games
>noticeable screen ghosting (on 1000/2000) or interlacing (on 3000)
>low battery life
>awful d-pad
Medal of Honor has not aged well.
are there any GOOD retro World War II games?
>besides Wolfenstein, of course

>Medal of Honor has not aged well.
IT IZ ZE AMERICAN SHITPOSTER JIMMY PATERSON!
>>3662534
>all this asspain!
Video games don't age and Medal of Honor is still fun.
Why was Stadium so fucking hard? I don't think I've win a single cup on it.
>>3661302
If I remember right, there was a glitch where if you were a complete fucking retard of a child, you couldn't win a single cup

You sir deserve an extra serving of burger for that brutal comment.
Well done.

Try revisiting it op, believe in yourself.
What can I expect?

For this thread to be derailed by shills and shitposters, which is possibly your intention all along.

ITT: post games with lovecraftian themes or generally cosmic horror.
The Legacy - Realms of Terror
It's one of my favorite old CRPGs.

Kirby's Adventure
Dragon Quest thread
Last one was great so let's get another going.
Dragonquest is the bottom of the JRPG barrel, pleb.
>decide to begin playing the DQ series as I've never done before
>start with very first game; US release "Dragon Warrior"
>Atari graphics, but then that's Famicom
>character sneaking around like a snail
>have to go through a fucking menu to use stairs
>have to grind like a mofo for money and exp
>3x3 visible region within dungeons, i.e. one square in each direction; is this an RPG or a fucking maze game?
How did this ever become popular? I know it was like the first JRPG but still, the grinding is tedious as FUCK in this game.
I have heard many times that this is the best saturn game. Does Dragon Force really deserve this kind of reputation?
>best Saturn game
>not Sakura Taisen
dragon force 1 and 2 are awesome strategy games. I think even playing it will give anyone a sense of awe at the action on screen, but the best saturn game? There's so many great games it's hard to find a best one.
But I might put money on panzer dragoon zwei.
>>3660936
Hard to say any given game is the absolute best (for me, that would be Panzer Dragoon Saga, which undoubtedly a lot of anons will disagree with).
Dragon Force is a very well regarded game, but your enjoyment of it will probably depend on how much you like the genre. I tried it for the first time this year and found to my disappointment that I didn't like. It's too slow and complicated for my tastes, which is a shame because I could still clearly see the appeal in the game. The lore, the variety of kingdoms and generals you can control, the battle sequences, there's a lot to love in this, but it hinges on wether or not you connect with the basic gameplay mechanics underlying it all.
Let's talk about lost gems

Would've been a nice thread.

Every time I post a screenshot, people complain about my filtering. What's so bad about that?

Does this game have the best soundtrack of all time? I can't really think of a soundtrack that effectively hits every note perfectly, capturing that epic quality orchestral music does, rapid, heavy drums giving a primal sense of a hunt and the industrial synth fitting the setting just fucking perfectly. Have you heard it? Also did you see that Data Discs is doing vinyl's of it?
Vinyl's what?
>>3660540
two record set of the entire soundtrack.

>>3660543
That's cool, I was asking what specifically is in the vinyl's possession.
I literally don't understand how anyone could hate ff6, it's a true masterpiece in storytelling, music, sprite work, and game play.
It's my favorite Final Fantasy game, but the releases before the GBA ones were fundamentally broken, it's still easy to hate Nintendo, and it's not their first Final Fantasy game. I wouldn't call a video game a masterpiece of storytelling. As for music and spritework, Symphony of the Night called.

All games have flaws even if minor or relatively unimportant. All people have different taste and might not see what you see in something.
My favorite game is earthbound, I get why lots of people wouldn't like it. I just accept it.
Keep in mind that many people here dislike things simply because they're popular. 4chan is the most hipster place on the internet.
