What makes you happy, /vr/?
>>3661568
you do.
In terms of /vr/ matters?
Playing with my actual childhood consoles and games and still being able to enjoy them.
The fact these things are now expensive and sought-after also add to it, but it's mostly just the joy of playing.

Before I die I just need to know one thing. Has anyone else played and beaten E.G.G?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9GxyEIiaFM&list=PL3233CD291816027A
>>3661459
I got it from a friend who didn't like it and handed it off to me.
I got as far as the stupid 14-gate puzzle or whatever before I quit in frustration.
Also, a lot of the walkthroughs seem inaccurate.
>>3661459
Never beat it because I got lost at one point and couldn't progress. Great game tho.
Got a fuckton of these for a cheap price
What the fuck is this? Is it worth anything?
>>3661445
>DUKE NUKUM
...and no, they're just poopy shareware titles
>>3661487
I just learned something:
> Duke Nukum was the Title of the 2.0 version of Duke Nukem in order to avoid a lawsuit with the Captain Planet cartoon show. However Apogee learned that the name was not copyrighted so they registered it and used it for all future titles.
>>3661445
No. And neither are you. You will never be the reseller scum you aspire to be. Better anhero before you die of natural tard things.
Contrary to popular belief, most of the reasons people have for the video game crash of 1983 are mere myths:
>It wasn't Pac-Man or E.T.
>It wasn't the amount of consoles on the market
>It wasn't 3rd party devs
>It wasn't the PC industry
>It wasn't bad games

Stop advertising your bullshit video.
>>3661408
Pac-Man and ET were indicative of the quality of the games of the time period.
>>3661408
Why does no one make a video about the 1977 crash?
Need some help finding a CRT TV for some good old retro gaming and also possibly some no frame lag fighting games. Any suggestions?
Before you buy anything make sure you find out whether it's stereo or mono. You don't want to get stuck with some one-speaker shitter, totally ruins some games.
>>3661326
>using the on board speakers full stop
>>3661504
>tfw mine has better speakers than my satellites and a built-in sub
Yeah... I dunno. Anybody try this out?
I'm pretty skeptical. Could a service like this really be beneficial for the business and retro gamers alike?
Better than Gamestop anyway. At least they won't destroy anything.
Don't these services always send out fairly cheap bargain bin games though?
I have a feeling the samples they send to youtubers are cherry picked to have good stuff, but most people get crap.
>>3661253
>Don't these services always send out fairly cheap bargain bin games though?
Indeed. There's no way they would stock some of the more expensive retro games, much less risk letting them fall into the hands of unscrupulous individuals who would never send them back.

did you know that you can use another flute on the warp zone in mario bros 3 and it warps you to the last world?
>>3661190
A mildly experienced player can reach literally any World in SMB3 in under 5 min, with the tradeoff of less (or no) backup inventory items. It was a perfect setup of built-in mechanics and shortcuts, conceived to make a save battery basically pointless.
And yet there's people in this board RIGHT NOW who think the SMAS version is superiorer because it slaps save mechanics on it

Absolutely disgusting. And yet, I'm sure this thread will accumulate 500 replies in no time.

...and sofoot in my mouth just fuck my shit upwith this one?
Well I mean, only one of those three is /vr/-approved...
But you shut your whore mouth about SPM. It's still just as charming as the first two even if it isn't an RPG and doesn't have cool partners.

Not sure if anyone is really knowledgeable about this, but when I try to play King's Field (Japan) via swap method, the game doesn't load. I read others have the same problem. They claimed the only way to play it was by importing a Japanese PS1, or just emulating the game. I would really rather play it on real hardware since I have it. Surely there's some way to get it working.
Well I dunno
If you get it working make sure you focus on both magic and your physical attacks
I have a real copy so I wouldn't know
>>3660873
>I have a real copy
So do I. But since I have an NTSC-U console, I have to use the swap method, which unfortunately doesn't work with KF1 for some reason.
Any good alternative to this wiki? Used to look it up because I thought it had all games worth playing of a platform even if there was tons of mediocre shit in it but can't trust it anymore after I failed to find some true classics on it.
I still use it for reference material but at this point I rather look up IGNs top 100 lists if I want to find a new game to play.
An alternative? No.
You could just update the wiki. Keep in mind that typically speaking, anybody that's played the classics that should be added to that list aren't using that wiki or don't go to that website anymore.
>>3660812
I think the "classics" aren't added because everyone assumed everyone else knew about thedm already.
But you can always add them yourself.
It's a wiki, just fucking add them - nobody's going to take them away. There's shit on there that has single digit scores on Metacritic but as long as you write up a little description anything's fine.
I don't really get the recent backlash towards it either, it's a useful tool to find some obscure games. Using it as some kind of test of your personal taste isn't useful.
Does the SNES version of EWJ have noticeable lag, or is it just something wrong with my emulator/display/brain?
>>3660569
I remember them being identical, but it's been a long long time.
>>3660569
Lots of noticeable lags lately.
You'd have more luck trying the "It doesn't feel right on the Snes!" excuse.
>>3661358
No lag on a SNES/CRT. Lots o' lag on an android emulator. Little bit of lag on PC emulator.
