PuNes is based...BASED!!
That looks like ass.
>>3656132
no it doesn't. Stop ruining my world.
>>3656124
Based on what, exactly?
Supposedly Lumasync is better than Csync, does anyone have a comparison pic that shows the on-screen difference?
>>3656025
This is an autistic level of obesession. Don't fall for the scart meme.
Thing is either I buy two separate cables for my Snes and my Gamecube OR (if there's much difference between the sync's quality) one cable for both.

I take it your an American right?

So,what's the ultimate way to play retro games?
I hear a lot around here that playing on a crt is the best one. But why bother to buy all consoles and games that you wanna play? Why not just emulate all of them on a modern pc or on a raspberry pi? What's the deal?
Maybe people have different preferences.
What has to be said is that nobody can own every arcade game. Maybe a few popular boards but nowhere near the amounts offered by MAME.
>I hear a lot around here that playing on a crt is the best one. But why bother to buy all consoles and games that you wanna play?
What's that got to do with using a CRT? You can use a Wii and a couple of hacked consoles and barely spend a penny. But the simple answer is that display lag is real, especially on the Pi where it's straight-up unavoidable.
>>3655990
The best setup would be a raspberry pi and a modern tv.
With all the shaders available and being able to play everything in hi definition, it looks 100x better than any retro console hooked up to a crt.
Post a good improvement hack.

"Improvement" meaning just fixes and stuff?

every gba2snes colors hack ever
Does anyone here make a point of getting multiple versions/regions of the same consoles?
On one hand it makes it easier to find the games you want to play.
On the other hand it sure takes up a lot of space. You might barely get any use out of some of them.
Just get a Action Replay you dummie.
>>3655994
this, just buy the console version you like the most and find a way to play all (or most games) on them
>>3655978
I do.
Yeah it takes up space but my game collection takes up way more lol.
As long as you have each system displayed nice and hooked up(or have it so it can be hooked up quickly) then you will use it more.
If you buy multiple systems and you end up just storing them then it's kind of a waste because you will never play them as much.
Plus a lot of the import systems look really cool. Always liked the all white/ grey+blue Saturn, the famicom looks cool, etc.
Could we have an "official" vr weekly or monthly retro experience?
Ala vr gauntlet but where everyone play the same game and share experience, feelings, opiniones, memes...
I think it would be a great idea.
Go to Racketboy, click on "Together Retro"
>>3655823
It has been tried multiple times, just search the archives.
There are no people left on this board that actually play video games, only shitposters from /v/ that in all reality are just kids trying to have fun.
Everyone else is gone.
>>3655823
I'm down for this, for what it's worth.
Will monitor this thread.
The point of a review is to tell you whether a game is worth your time. In the modern day Goldeneye 007 is far less likely to be worth your time because there are so many far, far better FPS games that you could spend your time on instead, and the mechanics of the game have aged like milk.
That being said, I think that he should have re-reviews of games be separate from the original review. Doing it this way feels like "changing history".

>Goldeneye 007 is far less likely to be worth your time because there are so many far, far better FPS games that you could spend your time on instead
Aside from Perfect Dark and Timesplitters, like what?
>>3655756
You have a point there. I always think there are games that are regarded like software, each new installment updates the game and makes previous releases obsolete because they relay in certain features that can be improved.
On the other hand, there are games that can and will be still played even after new releases since they can offer you different things. I'd still play FFV after FF VII, for example.
What does /vr/ think about Faxanadu?
>Faxanadu
More like Faxanadon't

I hate that the intro ends on a strange note
The music is cool.
I was thinking of buying either Kileak or it's sequel Epidemic off Amazon and I wondered if there are any other Retro Mecha games on the PS1 or older I should know about, Can't wait for PS2 to become retro either so I could get PS2 suggestions too. Is Kileak or Epidemic worth Checking out?
>>3655710
>Can't wait for PS2 to become retro
Sorry to disappoint, my /m/an, that's gonna stay in /v/.
As far as recommendations go, try looking for "Brahma Force", mecha FPS for the PS1.
>>3655721
I've heard of that one, is it by Genki as well or a different company?
>>3655727
it's Genki
What are other games with the same gameplay from Prince of Persia? Is there any terminology to refer to this specific sub-genre f paltforming?
From the top of my head, there's Flashback and Abe's Oddisee.
>Genre(s) Cinematic platformer
From Wikipedia.
Nosferatu for the SNES come to mind
Another World / Out of This World
"Alladin" by Disney. It is 9 of 10 game.
The substructure of the universe regresses infinitely towards smaller and smaller components. Behind atoms we find electrons, and behind electrons, quarks. Each layer unraveled reveals new secrets, but also newAlpha Centauri threads.

Wow, it's like they seriously don't understand what the word "quantum" in "quantum physics" is referring to
>>3655635It's a metaphor
>>3655632
I played Alpha Centauri before way back when I was like 6 or 7 maybe. I tried really hard to understand what to do and I was only able to make some car with a drill on it and make some random political decisions with some black dude but never get what was going on.
Now that I am growth enough and my english is sharpen than even I think I will give it a try.
Any recs before start this?
Which has the best D-pad:
Original, Dualshock, or PS2?
Which has the best analog sticks:
Dualshock or PS2?
They all look the same but what are the subtle differences between them?
PS2 was pressure sensitive wasn't it? Alas not retro.
>>3655558
Only X and Square were pressure sensitive buttons, and the controllers were programmed so that they work digitally when that feature is unused.
I don't think there's a huge amount of difference between the PS1 controllers' d-pads. The only real use for a PS1 controller with no analogs is for simulating 1996 with greater accuracy. They seem to be pretty cheap though, only about $5 where I live, so it might be worth getting both.
Also, be aware there's two versions of the analog controller: original analog and dualshock. Only real difference is the dualshock has a rumble feature.
I hear people talk about how the PS2 controllers' analogs sucked but I've never had issues with them. They feel pretty much the same to me.
I don't suppose any of you have a suikoden save file I can snag?
Just to use for suikoden 2
>>3655501
what format? You playing on PS3? you play one PS1?
Details.
>>3655523
epsxe
It's my first time using the thing though. Just assuming i can throw a save file in a folder somewhere
fingers crossed ay
>>3655528
Epsxe uses digital memory cards just so you know. When you get the file you will essentially be getting a memory card with the save on it.
>Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever!
>>3655490
He's right you know.
I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
Is that the movie where Adam Sandler's character has teenage naivety, but something very special? I forgot the name.
i can't beat the mine cart level on hard how do you weapon it
shoot at the seven force until it dies
I always use rapid + rapid for that stage, and most of the rest of the game too.
>>3655487
Homing + laser I remember being broken. Just dodge while holding the fire button and you're good to go.
