Jesus tap dancing christ. I played Ages hard back in 2002 and never touched it since finishing it and I had forgotten the layouts of the dungeons and puzzles and jesus fucking christ what the fuck. I have not been this god damn stumped since the Ice Dungeon in ALttP.
God fuck I never played Seasons because I got so burnt out on Zelda because of Ages.
And fuck that "rhythm" goron part.

I hate that dungeon, too. But Oracle of Seasons is much easier imo, give it a try.

I remember that shit in OOT. I remember thinking "I can't wait to get out of this weird place and get to that next dungeon". Then, about halfway through it dawned on me that this was the next dungeon. Was not happy.

I am disappoint.
Mortal Kombat 2 is the best game in the franchise.
If you disagree fight me irl.
Who do you main?
Kung Lao here.
It is supremely comfy.
I was shit at the game, but I mained Shang Tsung. I might not have won many fights, but I nailed every transformation and lost looking like a boss.

I really hope he does more Dendy stuff. It's such a huge piece of history, but very undocumented. And he did a amazing job already.
>>3622483
There are still videos without any subtitle about Dendy but all the guys who did the Spanish and English subtitles for his old videos have moved with their lives. There is also a lot of let's plays of just him with his bydlo buddies playing in his kitchen which does not need much to figure out. Some of them are pretty fun in small doses like playing a shit ass translation of Silent Hill from start to finish. I feel we are missing out on more than his videos by the language barrier. I would love to hear more about how people were raised on pirated carts. Imagine kids who did not play stuff like Legend of Zelda, because pirate carts avoid things with battery save, so the most you could get for a long game were carts like Willow but games like Faxanadu did not make it since the original Japanese version had battery save.

I check back here regularly just to see what astrologers are proclaiming and which, if any, creatures get a boost.
Just discovered it and enjoying every second. Am I a casual for doing this?

Yes.
This board loved it a few years back, I still remember seeing Arino reaction pictures all over the place.
I'm thinking of getting some sort of dedicated emulation device, just so I can have something permanently plugged into my tv.
I want something small that can emulate up to PS1, Dreamcast as well would be nice, I'm not sure how much further of a stretch that is though and isn't essential.
Would a mini-itx be my best option? What would the bare minimum requirements in terms of processing power be to run these emulators reasonably accurately, minimal lag is also important to me.
You're best bet is ATX or maybe Micro-ATX. Mini-ITX or Mini-STX are castrated.
More processing power is better for more accurate emulation and stuff like (software) rendering in higher resolutions. Even the cheapest desktop CPUs will suffice for basic things.

Most of the computers I've put together uses full sized cases, since I am always concerned about cooling and/or noise reduction. I'd like to read about your results and what you use for your dedicated emulation computer (and the costs). I see so many Raspberry Pi threads here on /vr/ and I am so jealous of people able to build awesome emulation machines with it: https://youtu.be/dV-W23lONI4
I am still trying to find some controller interface just for navigating around Windows 10 (and ways to remove all the random data sent), I am nervous about going full Lakka because I also enjoy Big Picture Mode of Steam.

I presume you've tried using a frontend? I know that LaunchBox allows you to import basically anything into it, and can import Windows and Steam games quite well.
So I have roller coaster tycoon 2 but the disc is way too goddamn scratched for this shit to install.
What kind of workarounds can I do? I wanna play this shit so bad, it's one of my favorites from when I was a little autistic spaz.

What did he mean by this?
curious about these too, more specifically, how's the d-pad and buttons, and do the games run on hardware or is it emulation? And has has anyone experienced any glitches in certain games?
I really want to kill myself right now
howabout you play something a little less halfassed
>>3664264
To be fair, it was an early game. But yeah, pretty crappy. I don't mind difficulty, but the slow as hell move speed and "you need to be on the outermost pixel of the platform in order to clear this" jumps are rather irritating and at times makes it less reaction based and more pure memorization.
>>3664271
I'm trying to play them in release order (barring ports/remakes) and stupid fucking adventure is the only thing in between me and 3, which looks to be like 1 but better. And 1 has been my favorite so far.
Hey guys, I spent all night googling snes vertical scrolling shoot em' ups.
I've been looking for a space themed game similar to Galaga. I've scowered through lists and can't seem to see any screenshots of what I might've seen as a kid.
ANYTHING helps.. cheers.

Try this, OP:

GameFAQs lets you browse by console + genre + sub-genre, although I didn't see any sub-genre for vertical / horizontal on that particular platform.
Earth Defense Force or Phalanx

Hey guys, I'm looking for a fighting game, it was martial arts themed and had a guy in a karate gi that could shoot fireballs.
Looking to get a Saturn as I've never owned/played one before. Which model is ideal?
My options are model 1/2 U.S or the model 1/2 Japanese ones.
I will be using action replay to play imports. Is there any difference between these models in their performance?
This one
Just find a working one, doesn't matter which model or region, with action replay cart you can play games from any region.
Just make sure you get model 2/japanese controllers. Avoid US model 1 controllers unless you really like it for some reason.
model 2 japanese is the best
What was their problem?
The dudes at segas ad dep. we're master trolls.

What retro games would you consider your favorite for their atmosphere?
Pic related. I loved KF's dark, muddy visuals. The atmosphere created a persistent sense of impending danger. Of course, given the number of lava pits, bottomless drop-offs and pitch-black chasms everywhere, the danger was very much real.
>>3663835
You would prob like Echo Night OP, it's a first person adventure game also by From Soft, even runs in the same engine as KF.
>>3663835
tomb raider 1 & 2. personally I feel the playstation versions add more to the atmosphere due to the hardware limitations.

Has anyone played the Magic Carpet games? I got them off of GoG. I got to level 30 out of 75 and called it quits because the levels are pretty repetitious and average to about 40 minutes. So I moved onto the sequel. There are only 25 levels but there is much more variety, feels more like a proper vidya.
Just wanted to give you some input on these games used to play the hell out of em. Back in 94 my friends dad got Magic Carpet 1 the other worlds and we played the hell out of it. I loved the crazy monsters on it and the spells. The level were long I get you on that but damm scorched earth on the levels was great. As for part two I liked the increase in spells they gave you, and the day and night maps. I didn't really care for the underground maps myself. The multiplayer part is a plus too. I just felt it was too short. My favorite is the first one, but two is good for the multiplayer. Just wanted more maps. Anyways good game man.
Should I try this if I liked Sacrifice? Are the two games comparable at all?
