>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

Your journey to the Goron City is thankfully a short and uneventful one, after the encounter with the Hinox. Well, minus some of Horon's questioning. More simple things, like where you grew up, how long you've been adventuring, and making sure you're not in this for the Princess. You reach a point where you just start to ignore his questioning as you approach the City.

Upon reaching the place, you're greeted by a familiar voice. "Ah, you were that Termina girl!"

You turn your head curiously. Goron... with a camera around his neck. "Ah, you were Doron, correct?"

He smiles a big, friendly smile. "Heh, that's me. Doron, reporter for the Monthly Cucco. What brings you up here?"

Welcome back, brawlers of the Belt, to Mecha Space Pirate Quest's forty-seventh installment! As always, you are Roarke Starwind, the man who protected Fatima's smile, the cause of that strange REEEEEEing sound crewmen on the Iulia Maesa keep complaining about, and Admiral of the Iron Kestrels.

Last time, you postponed two offers of allegiance to a power higher than your own somewhat invincible self, and were there when your onetime hostage Fatima Ahmad woke up.

Right now, she's kissing you. With incredible enthusiasm. Your lips almost feel bruised by the time she lets go of your shirt and sits up in bed, hugging your head against her chest with a happy sigh and petting your mane of orange hair, "But you are not hurt at all?"

Ah, that time of day. Aside from trying to make the Bigro and some alternative fist bits to give us more options(like some big grabby hands for pinning, dismantling and stealing weapons), I got some thoughts on who First Mate could be along with what made Fairchild stumble at the final declaration now that I read it.

Anywho, reassure her, show that we are unharmed, and let her in on details if need be. Bet she'll be happy that Rashad is considered a black stain on the record of Mars.. in more ways than one.

Future Naruto Quest

This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, and the villages you know and love are largely the same.

However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and the Main Series.

Now, onto character creation:

>A) You are the scion of one of Konoha's younger clans These clans are the Namikaze Clan, descended from Boruto's second son, and with a knack for all shinobi arts; the Konoha Uzumaki Clan, descended from Naruto, and possessing high chakra reserves, some members have been known to be able to wield Chakra Chains; and the Norihime Clan, of Shinobi Quest fame, (I like the concept, please no sue) famous for their high intellect and their rare kekkai genkai, Stellar Release, however, they are notable for having weak constitutions.

>B) You are from an older, foreign clan, descended from either the line of Kazekage or Tsuchikage.

>C) You are, either knowingly or unknowingly, from a clan thought to be extinct or dispersed These clans are the Yuki clan, from which Haku hailed, who have affinities with Water Release and Wind Release, and can access the Ice Style kekkai genkai with training; the Kaguya clan, which Kimimaro came from, and which you would be an unknowing member of, and who have superior taijutsu skills and the possibility of Shikotsumyaku; and a super secret surprise clan.

>D) None.

Is a skeleton king too simple of a bbeg?

Not a run of the mill skeleton but one that's intelligent, strong and a good tactician and wears a cool crown.

I love skeletons but I'm just thinking though, are they to boring to be bbegs? Would want players busting down the evil forts doors and say "Oh, it's just a skeleton, not even a litch just an actual skeleton who is a king." and getting underwhelmed.
12 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>48583213
I think it would be just fine, so long as he is a great king. Preferably was one whilst still alive and still is, continuing his rule with great might, respect and intellect.
>>
>>48583213
If you make the SK a compelling and interesting antagonist, your group would have to be a real garbage pile to say anything like that.
>>
>>48583213
If it's D&D, by the RAW an "intelligent" skeleton is already by definition not just a skeleton.

Besides, who cares what they think? If they underestimate Bones MacCalcium, punish them for their hubris.

What (real world) strategies, equipment and formations would the armies of the standard races of fantasy (humans, elves, dwarves, orcs) use, given the strength and weaknesses of their respective races?

For example, orcs are strong and brave but generally not too bright and not advanced. I imagine they'd use something simple but effective against a superior opponent, like Shaka's Bull's Horns that allowed him to defeat the better equiped and trained British on numerous occassions. But how would the elves for example design their infantry to bypass their relative physical weakness? And how would dwarves compensate for their stubby legs and lack of hygiene?
16 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>48583091
They would use firearms and related small unit tactics. Strategy would obviously depend on their military goals and would be intrinsically tied to doctrine and operational skills.Though I fail to see why each race would have race-specific military knowledge as one would expect them to base their militaries on their politics and environment.

>But how would the elves for example design their infantry to bypass their relative physical weakness?
Speers are always great, but I don't think that they would try to compensate their weaknesses so much. It's not always the wise thing to try to beat your opponent in something he's better than you, but it could be a good thing to use your own strength well.

>And how would dwarves compensate for their stubby legs
Always fighting in the superior defensive position.

>and lack of hygiene?
Calling the other pansies and faggots for not having dirty, smelly beards.

> Humans
Think Roman Legion. Large standing armies with varied understanding that is trained to stay in the realm of practicality. Forts, horses, boats, and carefully chosen or manipulated terrain. Shields, spears, short swords, crossbows of all sizes, and some basic siege equipment they largely use against their own people.

> Elves
Nature-focused guerrilla tactics, closest to Vietnam's fighting style. Small numbers and long lived, valued soldiers means they aren't afraid to get cruel to get the job done. Lesser races know the forests as taboo because of these guys. Dangerous weather and nature's filth do their heavy lifting. Poisons, spells, arrows, and traps just help things along.

>dorf
Forts. Where forts fail, Russian slash-and-burn fixes the enemy. Retreat deep enough and the enemy will run out of supplies, get lost, and give up. Explosive traps for cave ins help, along with early firearms and really, really thick armor vanguards in front. (vanguard can be prisoner seeking redemption or honored elder seeking a good death, very honored position kind of like vikings of old.)

>orcs
Roving war bands. Zulus are good, but maybe add in a bit of Hun for flavor, or even english warbows? You could even make them the Hannibal of the setting, giving them hosts of fierce and strange creatures under their command. Elephants, large cats, whatever.

>So who of you are writing your own RPG?
Several. For a decade.
>What are your experiences:
I cannot into time management.
>How supportive are your role-playing friends?
They insist they'll play anything I make. Anything. Everything. They have low standards.
>Do you write it all by yourself, do you have co-authors?
I write it myself, but I do bounce ideas off others. The math, though, that's another story. I've got a friend that is an exceptional help with math crafting.
>Do people play -or even run- testgames for you?
Other people run a game? Ha. Haha. If anyone is going to run a game, any game, it always winds up being me. I'll just be here, crying.
>Do people do proofreading or do they even edit your shit?
I do several proof readings, and have others read my work. It's the layout I'm shit at.
>Do your friends do other stuff to help you?
Well, kind of. They tell me I'm not shit while I cry because I know I'm shit.

For about two years.

>How supportive are your role-playing friends?
They seem to have fun with the system and the world, since it's all done for the group anyway. At some point - about two years back - we got fed up with existing systems. I decided to play mad scientist and create the chimera we now use.
>Do you write it all by yourself, do you have co-authors?
I write most of it myself. I run the math through a friend to double-check the numbers and I got another one to help me check language for rules - clarity and whatnot.
>Do people play -or even run- testgames for you?
We play maybe once a month, and have about an hour of feedback after it. Since the players know we do this partly to test the system, there's very little salt when things go sideways and we've retconned more than once to compensate for shitty first-iteration rules.
>Do your friends do other stuff to help you?
They come up with some ideas for classes/jobs/etc. Usually during feedback time.
>>
>>48582923
Yeah, on a whim i wrote up my first a few days ago.
>How supportive are your role-playing friends?
My 'net friends were supportive enough in tearing down most of what I wrote.
>Do you write it all by yourself, do you have co-authors?
Input on ideas, numbers and systems to steal, plus /tg/ statted up a good deal of the material for me.
>Do people play -or even run- testgames for you?
Trying to get the playing/testing stage going now.
>Do people do proofreading or do they even edit your shit?
Remake it from almost the ground up a few times and you'll deal with most grammar and spelling problems.
>Do your friends do other stuff to help you?
Erm. Not especially?

i need some help, how do i improve my non combat encounters beyond rolling a simple skill check to resolve it or going to fetch an item.

Whenever i try to run one its always just
- roll persuade on someone and get X
- roll search and find X
- roll skill check to craft X

so far there have been no complaints because were all new and were all good friends, but i want to improve anyhow.

Pic unrelated

I just got home from DMing a non combat session. My trick is try to get character development and get your players more involved in role playing. Add some political tension or something.
>>
>>48582671
Don't have them roll unless the outcome could determine whether they live or die.
>>
>>48582671
>- roll persuade on someone and get X
Try more direct speech. Not "What would my character do?" but "What would I do"
Try with small talk, start with a greeting, a compliment and then "by the way could you do me a favour?"
>- roll search and find X
Watch gamers 1 the part about the rogue in the dungeon. Something like that.
>- roll skill check to craft X
Difficult to answer, but how about you give more thought about the components?
Example arrow crafting:
Ask for allowing to make a knowledge check for wildness or ask someone with expertise about light but sturdy wood. Then go out into the woods gathering it. Make some roleplaying buying the metal for the arrowhead and shit.

Hey /tg/, would there be a good system for over the top gun combat? I'm planning on running a wild west monster hunting campaign, planning on having some fantasy elements involved with it. Would GURPs or Savage Worlds be good for this, or is there a better alternative?

Pathfinder.
>>
>>48581546
Interesting idea OP, I've been toying with a similar idea for a campaign. I'm sure someone could tell you how to make it work in GURP's but good luck getting your players to try it. Savage Worlds could probably work (it's what I was looking at) but I feel it needs something extra to make it really over the top, some sort of feat like special moves.
