My players are entering into some ancient, abandoned ruins next session. They want to investigate it, maybe get some useful/valuable information, and possibly find treasure.
The thing is, we have all discussed this before the game and decided we did not want dungeon crawls (going room to room, fighting monsters, rewards at the end conveniently, etc.) So, my question is, how can I include a delve into ancient somewhat-magical ruins, without having it turn into a dungeon crawl? Should a just make a map and fill it with a bunch of interesting things, and let them discover it all? Other than that, I don't really have any ideas.
Get rid of the monsters, add more traps, and some natural hazards caused by aging, like collapsing sections and whatnot. give them little treasure, but let them get artifacts they may be able to sell to an interested party like a reliquary or a wizard or something.

A mysterious monster stalks the players as they explore the ruins.
Also all the suggestions above are solid too.

The fuck? Are you guys allergic to simplicity or something?

Hey, I like Guts and even I know that's a load of horseshit.
First comes first, who are we? Well for starters, most of our basic info can be found here https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Pathetic_Marines
Hopefully all of my brothers wake up and come join us again. Newcomers are always welcome. I don't have the random item generator link so if someone does please post it.
Where did we leave off last time? Well the mechanicus sent us an ultimatum, either we retrieve the long lost STC from this planet or we get labeled as renegades for our massively undeniable tech heresy. I'm not sure what the other astartes are doing about this but I'm currently trying to find the exterminatus room and the keys for it because it sounds a lot easier to blow the planet up and kill a bunch of the enemies of the emperor at the same time. Found the keys but no room, found relic armor, a thunderhawk, and several Eldar that are still trapped in our beloved bastie.
Without further adieu, let's begin our adventure.

What method of casting is best? And why is it bare hands?
>>48592300
Because you can do all sorts of gestures with bare hands.
>Finger gun magic missile
>Healing thumbs up
>Summon birds by flipping the bird
The possibilities are endless!
>>48592300
Why best? Because bare hands show that the wizard needs no tools, trinkets or toys. They just gesture and the world hurriedly obeys them.
That said, I have a certain soft sport for swords used as foci.
>>48592300
Shouldn't you add "Mind" to that list for the casters that does it all in their head?
That said, it lacks a certain dramatic flair, so hands are better.

Run a game of Golden Sky Stories, I guess?
Ryuutama with a blue Ryuujin might work, too.
Why is it /tg/ in particular that attracts this kind of vapid shitposting? I swear boards like /int/ and /tv/ are far better at this point.
You choose an area of water that you can see within range and that fits within a 5-foot cube. You manipulate it in one of the following ways:
You instantaneously move or otherwise change the flow of the water as you direct, up to 5 feet in any direction. This movement doesn’t have enough force to cause damage.
You cause the water to form into simple shapes and animate at your direction. This change lasts for 1 hour.
You change the water’s color or opacity. The water must be changed in the same way throughout. This change lasts for 1 hour.
You freeze the water, provided that there are no creatures in it. The water unfreezes in 1 hour.
If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have no more than two of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.
>5 foot cube is 125 cubic feet
>1 cubic foot of water weighs roughly 60 pounds at room temperature
>60*125=7500 pounds of water
With a cantrip, I can casually control more than 3 tons of water at a time, whenever I want
What if I simply take that much water, sit on a small flotation device, and use it to fly, albeit slowly
What if I take that water, freeze it, and drop it on an unsuspecting enemy, whats the strength check required to survive 3 tons of ice
What if I trap an opponent's weapon in water and freeze it, leaving them with a weapon much heavier, and assuming I can move ice, now hovering higher and higher, their measly 150-300 pounds being nothing to the 3 tons I can move
What if I take all that water, and condense it to a minuscule size, like a marble, sure no damage is dealt while moving it, but what happens when its released
And even if the 5-foot cube only mean 5 cubic feet, that is still 300 pounds and can be worked with
>Move water 5 feet up
>It immediately drops because gravity exists
Hey, at least it's a convenient way to drop a boulder from a cliff.

There are much easier ways to kill someone.
What if the DM completely fucks your idea in two seconds?
Water Bending is fun, but more importantly, what's the check on dodging your slow-moving-ice-cube-of-doom?

So tiles
What do you guys do for tiles? I've used the pre-made d&d and pathfinder tiles, but I find those a bit limiting. I've drawn out maps before, but I'm not the best artist and I find myself constantly having to remind my group what this and that scribble is. So I'm thinking about printing out tiles. I bought some label paper and some poster board so I can get legit with it, but like I said before I can't draw.
So anyone got any good resources for printing out tiles? Mostly what I'm looking for are aesthetic stuff like beds, chairs, barrel, etc.
In the meantime, I'll post some tiles that I've collected.

First thing's first, you need to make sure you're prepared for this. You reach into your gi and feel around for the Senzu Beans Korin sent up a few days ago. Removing your hand from the gi, you find that all three are accounted for. Goku should have his three as well, so you should be alright if things go South.
"Goku," you call to your friend riding on the cloud beside you.
He glances over. "Yeah?"
"How do you feel about this whole Piccolo thing?" you ask. "Think we can handle it?"
"Kami seemed nervous," Goku answers, looking ahead. "So this guy won't be a pushover. But, between the two of us, I'm sure we can handle it. Besides, Krillin, Tenshinhan and the others will be there to help."
He's probably right. Still, King Piccolo was a horrific monster and a deadly opponent. His son is definitely nobody to take lightly.
But, maybe you should let the mood become a bit more light. With a smirk toward your friend, you change the subject.
"Just so you know, I'm going to beat you in this tournament," you promise Goku.
"We'll see," Goku says, smirking back at you. "Anything's possible, I suppose."

Let's Rock, Fuckers
Werewolf vs Wendigo vs Chupacabra vs Sasquatch
Who wins?
>>48589251
Sasquatch dies first. No way it wins, it doesn't have the sheer magical tomfuckery to contend with the others. I don't know a great deal about chupacabra, but if Wendigo are anything like Skin-Walkers than my money is on the Wendigo. Werewolves are bad-ass, but Skin-walkers are just fucked up.
>>48589305
My knowledge on Chupas are also quite limited, if any anon has extensive knowledge it would be welcome, I assume the wendigo wins through sheer magic shit and crazy list of abilities
>>48589341
Well i still know next to nothing, but based on what I've just found on google, i think the goat sucker dies second, maybe even dies before Sasquatch. The real question is, what manner of werewolf is it? There is some variation in the lore depending on region, and of course a billion and one adaptations on the old myths. Would it make a difference depending on what kind of werewolf it was?
Is it wrong to disguise an important plot hook as waifu bait if you know that's the best way to get your player to interact with it? I routinely have difficulty getting one of my players to engage with plot hooks, he just doesn't seem to care, or maybe he doesn't recognize them (i really hope he isn't that stupid). Normally the rest of the party compensates and this isn't a problem, but because we've had a few people move/get busy, right now while we are looking for group i'm running a solo campaign for him. Thus far i've basically had to bash him over the head with npc's or he just kinda sits there wondering what to do. However i do recall several instances where he has acted of his own accord, and just about every time i remember him doing this, there was a potential waifu involved. It's not always a good thing, For instance one time we were playing module that happened to have a character that matched his kinks, and he derailed the whole damn thing, but at least it gets him to interact. So, there is a pretty big plotline i have planned, and i need a way to get him sucked in. Is it wrong to bait him, making full use of my knowledge of his proclivities? What say you /tg/?
Here is a tip for good posting:

Totally dependent on the regiment, you might have a guy carrying power armor, hellguns, vox casters all next to a tea set, while a guy from the very same system may come into battle in a fucking space-tiger hide and wooden spear, having forgo his lasgun because he doesn't know how to use it.
