I have been looking everywhere for this book. Everywhere. I know that WFRP 3rd is heavy-component based, with lots and lots of cards and dices, but I just found out that Fantasy Flight games released this pure book old school revised version, in which there is no need for any of the components, besides the dices. (https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay/). The problem is that they stopped selling the PDF version.

I am a poor pleb, and due to not living in US or EU, buying the board game versoin is absurdly expensive(60 dollars in USA, around one thousand bucks in our currency, btw our minimum wage is 800).

Does anyone have the PDF version? I found some random 3rd edition suplements pdf's on scribd. Fantasy Flight games have stopped selling the PDF version for some reason, I'd definitely buy it if they were still selling it in their website.

It isn't really a "revised" edition at all, it just contains the basic rules and the first few supplements in one big book. It makes the cards into a big chart-like thing which I guess works.

Still probably going to need some varieties of counters and such to keep track of round-per-round things that change.

I'm not very internet savvy with downloads and stuff, but it won't let me put my PDF of it in the post I'm afraid. Sorry.

That all said I commend you for being adventurous enough to try something different and probably one of my favorite games ever.

Greetings, elegan/tg/gentlemen. My group is starting a new campaign, so I rolled stats for my tielfling monk. We do a basic roll on each stat at 4d6, remove the lowest, with the result being final. Did well for everything else, but my Cha turned out to be a grand total of 4 (6 with the racial modifier).

How exactly does the substandard value of Cha affect a character? How do you propose to roleplay someone with limited Int, high Wis and 6 Cha? Is a tielfling with those stats more of a devil/demon and less human in apperance?

I guess we can chime in some stories of characters utilized their low stats.

>>
>elegan/tg/gentlemen

And this is what happens when you are low on Int, I guess.
>>
>>49574436
just play the character shy. insecurity = low CHA

>I guess we can chime in some stories of characters utilized their low stats.
SW Saga Edition Wookie Noble with Dex 4 here. this is terribly bad in a game in which firearms play a prominent role. so, instead, my char has become the skill monkey(-dog). next level I can buy a feat that allows me to use INT for AC, so there is a partial workaround there. still can't shoot for shit. but I have come to be fairly decent in melee now. overall, the char is shaping up at level 6.
>>
>>49574436

This is why in my group rerolling a stat that goes under 8 is pretty standard. Just running around and being immediately assfucked to hell by anything that imposes a CHA save isn't fun and will make the DM feel like he can't impose CHA saves because it's essentially the same as saying "fuck you" to the guy who just happens to have a -4 to his save.

what-the-fuck-am-i-casting.jpg
50KB, 435x571px
So i'm DM'ing for a game in DnD 3.5, and i've implemented a couple simple rules to keep crits and fumble's in line for casters and melee.

>one crit and one fumble per turn, for everything. Not 2 of each, or 2 of the other, 1 crit and one fumble possible per turn
>prevents melee oriented characters with lots of attacks from fumbling too often

>Casters make concentration checks on every spell cast, besides those that need an attack roll anyways.
>both the skill and spells function the same except for when a nat 1 is rolled, leading to the mishaps.
>basically, its a check to see if you sneezed or not, or some other minor happening that would mess with a spell

Hopefully, those two rules make combat a bit more interesting, and help the disparity in flubs between the two sides.

Here's the part thats a bit tricky. Most of the roll table's i've seen for magical flubs tend to include benefits of some sort, most of which are huge, potentially even gamebreaking. I'd prefer my players not get such a boost on a failure, obviously. But at the same time i don't want them to obliterate themselves for casting a cantrip.

So to summarize, i'm looking for a mishap table that won't destroy them, and won't benefit them as they are failing. If anyone knows of one that fits the description, that'd be great. Barring that, we could create one.
12 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
there shouldn't even be fumbles
you don't auto-fail skill checks on a 1
why are you taking critical hits away from melee characters, it's bad enough so many monsters are already immune
casters already make concentration checks every spell if you're doing your damn job and threatening them, the DCs are so low as to be trivial

do mishap tables ever add anything?
what are you trying to accomplish
>>
Of course i'm not completely bereft of idea's on the matter. We could make a D10 table for each level of spell from 1-9, with each level getting increasingly devastating. The more powerful the spell, the larger the drawback to failing.

The skill check on con is only to act as a pseudo attack roll. nothing more or less.

And i'm adding fumble's because if something can crit it can critically fail. There is always a chance of failure due to happenstance.

As well, it already takes a crit and confirmation to actually crit. The chances of critting already are pretty low. I could take the crit limit off, but it wouldn't affect a whole lot.

I suppose i should mention i'd also add it to my creatures.

Basically, i see mage fumbling as a way to keep magic in line with melee. A large part of the issue is that a lot of the time there's no reason at all not to use magic, where-as a melee character already has a hundred and one inherent risks to anything he does, from level 1 to 20.

So I'm planning on running my first serious campaign of Pathfinder. My PCs are a Kobold Sorcerer intent on becoming a lich, a dwarf Barbarian who wants to reclaim a lost artifact from dwarven history and a changeling witch who ultimately wants to become a diabolist and take over hell(or something to that effect) How should I start it? How do I entwine their goals? How do I get them to get along when two of them seem to have goals drastically different than the dwarf? I have many concerns.

>>
>>49573412
No, it's going to be "Tyranids eat everyone". Whatever battles come before that, the Hive Fleet consuming the galaxy and moving on to the next is the inevitable ending no matter what.
>>
>>49573412
No, because GW hates Chaos Undivided. End Times 40k is going to be "Khorne steamrolls everyone while retarded retcons and genius characters act like absolute retards in order to let Chaos wreck everyone, everyone dies, please buy Age Of The Emperor with the Khorne Zerkmongers fighting Imperial Ultramarines in The Chaos Void"
>>

This is a thread for the discussion of Destiny Lore and it's viability as a TTRPG setting. Also open for dicussion is potential systems/modifications for existing systems that would be suitable for it.

Previous (First) Thread: >>49534379

I'm not sure what would be a good opening question for this. I suppose taking stock of options for systems would be good. Traveller has been thrown around a few times, and personally I've considered Eclipse Phase (if only because I know it).

If only because in its massive compendium of splats and options is possible to build yourself a system with damn near every component necessary to replicate stuff in Destiny.

Fair enough. It seems like it would contain everything from alchemy to space fighter combat.

I think one thing that's a real wrench in the works is the class system.Or rather, how to handle the class/subclass system. Would Guardian powers be left more open ended? Or would they be rigid like they are in game? Would distinctions, beyond self given ones, exist for Hunters/Warlocks/Titans?
>>
>>49573426

I'd probably play it more rigid, since the Guardians do branch up quite a bit.

They could be generally light on species distinctions, each providing a little bonus here and there to roleplay and maybe a single small mechanical boost. After that, classes have their abilities, but weapons can change out pretty well.

I'd be a fan of just giving weapons straight stats and assuming that all players have proficiency in everything, just to simplify. Maybe they have class abilities which improve the use of a single weapon, or add some tricks to it, but ultimately the weapon's stats do not change in their hands (unless an ability would just add damage to whatever weapon).

Actually, if we go by Symbaroum's progression philosophy, experience is much harder to come by and character's stats do not advance very fast or very significantly, if at all. Armor and weapons provide whatever mechanical changes are applied, and skills and abilities add more tools to your toolkit to help deal with things.

This means enemies don't improve by grades, and encounters never start feeling pointless because the enemies are just cannon fodder at a certain point.

The Mongol Empire never fell. It extended through all of Eurasia, Africa, and eventually the Americas. To be sure, it had difficulty holding all of that territory, and much eventually escaped its grasp and led to endless minor wars to reconquer it, but the empire itself remained essentially unbroken for centuries. Eventually technology advanced and the Mongols reached the stars and obtained hyperspace technology. How does the Mongol Star Empire work?

Settled nomads lose any trace of old ways, so not very different. One world government since XIII century, on other hand, will inevitably change human civilization.

I guess it depends on the setting.

Fantasy? Hyperbolic rumors. Then skepticism of reports. Then eye-witnesses. Then player scouting. Then planning. Then arrival.

Modern? Television crackpot. Television reporter. Television politician. Rioting. Military. Then arrival.

Sci-Fi? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. HOLY FUCK.

Literally as both boss battle and terrain. Players should hitting them with artillery and clambering on (sometimes in) them to find weak points.

Bonus points if they get their own monster or construct to fight the beast.

As for mechanics, lots of natural defenses, (parasite minions aka cloverfield?) huge sweeping attacks to prevent boring hang ups, and healthy dose of letting players unleash crazy bullshit ideas

my friend is creating a backstory, i told him to revise it to make it better but he's too lazy to do it so im wondering what you guys think of it, please help me revise it so i can resend it to him. this is pathfinder running the Way of the Wicked:

the mask is actually attached to his face. He doesn't remember how it got there, or very much of his past pre-mask. All he knows is he found out he's good at killing people, and he enjoys it, so he did that for money (and a bit of fun) to sustain himself and live in secret. He wasn't caught for awhile, ya know, the mask and all. eventually he was imprisoned for high treason when he tried to kill someone important. Whoever/whatever organization breaks us out will tell us about how they wanna take over talingarde he says "utlimate power sounds pretty sweet, and you broke me out so sure why not" so he's on board and devotes himself to the cause out of loyalty + self interest

Seems very run of the mill "Dickass thief."
If he wants the permanent mask, tell him to look up the Man in the Iron Mask, may give his character a motivation for the secrecy and murder.
>>
To risk being a weeb, take a look at utawarerumono. It might not fit the setting, but could be interesting.
>>
The mask is a curse. It twists the perception others have about the wearer, forcing the wearer to forever be a stranger to everyone, never being recognized for his deeds or actions. Sometimes, the mask projects foreign thoughts into the wearer's mind, such that the wearer may not even know himself. Perhaps it was a curse laid by an enemy of the wearer, relegating the wearer into eternal obscurity and eventually madness, should the wearer be too weak to overcome the mask's influence; perhaps the mask was designed to create the ultimate killer, one who could feel no empathy by way of eternal ostracization; or perhaps the mask was donned willingly by a man who came to hate the world that he wanted to feel nothing towards it.

Occasionally, the mask tells him to do things, things so extreme that the world would have to recognize it. It does this in the vain hope that it might be remembered.

To overthrow the most powerful being from his position as an emperor.

Because they think that if a lich has been an emperor for a few thousand years and has done absolutely nothing it might be a time for a re-election. By force.

Break his throne which doubles as a phylactery even the emperor forgot where he hid it. Nor does the BBEG. They are not smart people.
