So far we've nailed them down as an Iron Warriors splinter group who worship the Obliterator Virus. They use bioterrorism, extensive body modification, a large core group of veterans-turned Obliterators, and an extensive cult following to eke out a living as mercenaries, selling their service to other warbands. They are led by Thodos, a Daemon Prince who seems to have mysteriously "mastered" the Obliterator Virus.
Last thread we worked on the paint scheme for the legion, and heavily developed Thodos's character. Now I want to hear about the other members. A Chimera is made of many parts, together more powerful than than any one part. What champions have carved their names into legend? What deeds have stabbed to the hearts of our foes? Is anyone saving any of this?
Let's find out together.

So tomorrow is the actual first session of my Transformers game, and it's been kind of a bumpy ride. Out of six interested candidates, only two of my party members actually bucked up and finished character creation. This is fine given the scale of encounter I have planned for session 1. Plus, others said they might try and join after the game has a session or two under its belt.
All of that being said, I'm still iffy on a couple of details. The party starts on a sketchy space port, probably in a bar. Some jobber Decepticon pirates (we're set mostly in post-war IDW) are going to start shit and canon-autobot-d-lister-Devcon might show up depending on how the encounter goes and how I'm feeling. After a certain length of time, Sarkticons will tear the port apart, everyone who can will evacuate, and the party might get mixed up with some 'cons and other less than savory types.
I need an excuse to get basically everyone on the same spaceboat, so I'll probably write either the Decepticons or Devcon getting overzealous and sabotaging/shooting every craft in the public hanger. Additionally, the Sharkticons probably broke out of the pirates' hold. Their own ship ruled out as a means of escape, the surviving Decepticons will be as helpless as anyone else.
My plan/excuse for having a remaining transport is in giving two npcs a spaceship as a combined form, neither can effectively travel through a vacuum without the other. I'm planning on making them lovers (IDW has those) to play up some potential drama later, but I haven't decided on their gender presentation or orientation. Straight is kind of overdone in Transformers media, despite not making a lot of sense. Basically, they're going to be gay but I haven't picked male or female. Lesbians sound more unique/interesting seeing as we've seen male gays done justice in TF, but I'm afraid of my party calling fetish fuel or Steven Universe if I make giant fusing lesbians. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking of having the gay ship be split apart in orbit over a planet to create two "camps" out of the crash sites. From there, sessions can devolve into episodic jank if I don't feel like writing anything hyper-ambitious one week or another. Whichever of the lovers the party winds up with will probably still be alive, but shellshocked from feeling the partner hit "in the drift" and if the party ever finds said partner dead in the enemy camp, the one still alive could make perfect cuckoolander/crazy fuel. Does this sound like an interesting hook, or am I probably over thinking a game with dice about cartoon toy robots?

I mean that's not really an arguement. It's cool having your character defined by your primary attribute. Like maybe you are a fast/dedicated hero who's an expert athlete who also cares about people.
3.5 characters are usually defined by their attributes anyway and this game just codifies it.

Didn't see a Cthulhu thread. Figured I'd make one.
Debated on the title. Could do "Lovecraft" General so the Delta Green boys don't feel lonely. Whatever.
Anyway, my question is for you cinephiles and tv watchers who saw True Detective Season 1. It borrowed heavily from Lovecraft (and from Lovecraft's own inspirations) with its Yellow King/Carcosa plot of Occult Murders.
Season 2 completely shit the bed.
How would you have continued this story into a modern-day, Lovecraft/occult investigator story? Doesn't need to feature the same two detectives. I figure the original plan was to hop around the U.S., following different people stumbling upon the occult tapestry (until Cary Fukunaga left the project and Season 2 just became about land deals).
