https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwYUexL0zGS_WUxkYlZVU3o0UVE
Gurps - Arabian Nights. This does a good job of giving you a take on having an Arabia themed backdrop in an RPG.
I'm too lazy to do a full repeat of it, but you can see a post or two or three where I touch on Arabic conventional warfare at >>>/trash/5572629
A synopsis for pre-gunpowder times is:
-Spear >= Sword > > Bow > Anything else among the Arabs. Javelins were a distinctly Abyssinian thing that the Yemeni also seem to have been somewhat adept at. I'm sure the Arabs did use some javelins, but not in great numbers.
-From horseback the premiere Arabic weapon was the spear/lance - wielded in a 'fencing' fashion rather than couched or fire and forget. Though during the Crusades there was the recognized maneuver of couching the lance, it clearly never was ubiquitously practiced. Swords obviously would also be used on horseback but the spear was the choice one.
-Swords were not scimitars but rather, at least in the earlier late pre-islamic and early islamic, fairly short gladius like affairs. Maybe not as short as a gladius but in between one and a spatha. It seems that in Roman, Persian and Turkic accounts the Arabs were known for "curiously short swords and curiously long spears". The latter isn't clear what constitutes long.
-Bow was practiced on foot, hadith of Muhammad saying God loves the bowman, Arabs were dogshit of dogshit with the bow on horseback and it's questionable if they ever did it at all.
Rivers are stupid build more lakes
>>49608401
-Camel could/would be used by irregular bedouin in razzia smash and grab raid functions. However there are basically zero references to it being used as a set piece combat mount by the Arabs. In fact the only two reliable references I can name off the top of my head are: a 2nd-3rd century BC Greek account of Magnesia and Arab mercenaries serving the Sillykids (camel mounted fellows with something like 6 cubit long narrow swords) and a undated graffiti of a camelry man fighting a horseman.
Yeah there is stuff like the famous Assyrian relief but that seems to depict Bedouin fleeing their raided camp - which goes back to the use of camels as beasts of burden, for logistics, transportation and allowing a kind of mounted infantry or dragoon quality to the Arabs when they had enough of them. My crass modern metaphor is that the camel was more of a Humvee, a blackhawk helicopter or chinook.
That does not apply to Berbers or Blemmye/Beja who did seem to in some ways use camels as a battle mount.
-al-farr wal karr is the arabic tactical doctrine of a rapid charge/attack and rapid withdrawal repeated as necessary. Done with cavalry.
-The Jund Al-Sham ("Syrian Army") was the ascendant Arab army in prowess and prestige during the Umayyad period. I believe they were drawn, as the name implies, mostly from Arabs who had dwelt in the Syrian region before being brought into the Muslim sphere or who had migrated there after the conquests. There was a kind of rivalry that sometimes became violent with the Mesopotamian based Army. A common tactic the Jund Al-Sham was famous for was their cavalrymen dismounting and kneeling to present a shield wall with spears braced to receive their enemy's attack.
-At first (muhammad's time) cavalry were rare and exceptionally valuable and so prized mainly for that final al-farr wal karr (continued)

Damn right they are, OP! Mecha are the best thing. Too bad people keep watering down their awesomeness with this lame "magitech" stuff. Mecha don't need any magic to be great, and I'd say it's actively a detriment to them.
What jumps allow me to create a succubus companion, or transform a companion into a succubus? Rosario + Vampire is there, and Darkstalkers kinda does it, but what other ones let me do it?

So circumstances dictate that I'll be sitting out this season for the most part, but as promised ages ago, a Vet League overview for Season V, brought to you by "Spike! Just Block It!":
For the most part we can probably say Season V is a definite passing of the torch. Most of the long-running titans have decided against re-entering for a chance at a Cup, most of them taking the time off to enjoy plum endorsement deals - with two trophies under their belts you might have seen the Quickslithers modeling for the upscale leather brand Slibli Vutton.
This does mean that this season we have a whole crop of up-and-comers. Plucky challengers from last season are now this year's heavyweights, and a new crop of promising rookie teams have come up hungry for glory - but the one thing in common is that none of the teams this year have a prior League Leader or Championship award.
first for lizardmen are op try hard crutch team and fumbbl looks so ugly you all must be 50 years old to play
>>49539262
And without further ado - the team lineup for Season V, in no particular order:
Snorkland Soulless - This Nurgle team is probably the one to be watched. The Soulless have a middling record but pulled out all the stops in Season IV to make it all the way to, mostly by brutalizing the opposition with well-placed fouls - in particular shattering the Red Fang Rocket's hopes in Season IV. In just 2 seasons they've inflicted a staggering 37 casualties! Coach roflcopter definitely aim to win by attrition over the season's run - if they can secure a playoff spot while maiming a few stars they'll have another shot at the championship.
Doomstar Requiem - With Animeted Clothing off playing exhibition games and promoting idoru concerts in faraway Nippon, Doomstar now takes the place as the top Chaos Dwarf team. The last season saw the team lose some of the luck that carried them through the rookie league season, but coach Logicsfate more than made up for it by stepping up the quality of the Requiem's tactical play after losses early in the season. With old league heavyweights out of the picture this season is Doomstar's chance to shine brightly!
Maximum Marvelous Maiden - After taking a hiatus in Season IV the "chooo-kawaii~" vampires have finally, finally graduated to the Vet League (or according to some sources, unceremoniously booted out of the Rookie League due to age concerns). Don't worry fans, they'll always be 18 in your hearts! Age controversies aside, the Maidens have more than what it takes - watch out for the absolutely monstrous team onee-chan Sky Singer Sora-sama, who hits like an ogre while still shrieking with the voice of an angel.

Isn't this dilemma resolved by assuming that at least two different people post on /tg/ and that those seemingly contradictory opinions are actually held by different people?
Considering that I wouldn't argue for either, and thus can't be either of the two, there may even be three or more different posters on this board.

Any online painting guides for Brets? These fuckers are hard as fuck to actually make look halfway decent
Question guys, few days ago I went to my flgs to play some 40k with models I just painted and quite a few guys really liked them and said they would pay me to do some work for them. I said I would think on it as I am knew to the idea of doing commissions.
Who much should one normally charge to do this kind of work? I understand prices should be based on quality so models just base painted would be a hell of a lot cheaper than a model with 3 layer paints.
I'm from Ontario Canada by the way if that helps with an answer.

Can I get some feedback and input on my homebrew class, the Empyrius?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xQMlB45-UFEWCB2ffqoBUMhR-t4afSXLk29fgTJNVyw/edit
Its designed to be a well-rounded class capable of covering offense and support with a few crowd control tricks.
Its main encompassing theme is a person capable of harnessing 'Essence'. A catch-all term for Ki, Powerpoints, Grit, etc.
He may use these Essences and shape them to either bolster his allies by using the Augment Essence Quintessences or to harm his foes using the Augment Siphon Quintessences.
Alright brothers, silence yourselves and take heed.
I am Watch-Captain Melach, the head of this Fortress. You have been brought here because back in your chapters you are the best of the best at killing xenos filth.
But you're in the Deathwatch now, and it's your duty as the Emperor's finest to prove yourself worthy of the silver and black.
You leave your pride and rivalries back home, the soldiers you see next to you are now your battle-brothers. And if I hear the word "Codex" out of anyone here you better be prepared to read one LONG book before you touch a single bolter in this fortress.
Now before I ship your technicolor bulk off to training, are there any questions? State your name, chapter, and specialization.

Requesting my character at her husband's rugby match.
Her clothing is marked by the orange dots. Shorts, and then bodypaint of his team's colorswhich I have never specified in-game, feel free to pick whichever works best. Her hair is next to the blue dot, and her expression by the red dot. His jersey number is '2' if you want to put that on her chest or tummy. This isn't supposed to be a lewd request by any means, she's just very aggressively into sports.
Migrating for a Maori Johnson like pic related, but as either an elf, ork, or troll. Please and thank you!
Posting anchor for Maskamillion.
Her body is formed of polished obsidian and verdigrised brass, inlaid with a large black-green crystal on the center of her chest between her breasts, another smaller crystal where her navel would be, and a line of similar-colored crystal spikes down her spine.
Her head is a beautiful female face of perfectly-polished obsidian, set in an unfeeling, unmoving mask, with long, elf-like ears and a teardrop-shaped disc of acid-etched brass rising up around her head like a form of halo. Her eyes are orbs of black-green crystal, and a river of iridescent liquid crystal trails from them at all times.
Her torso is legless and armless, with a single inch of upper arm on her shoulders, and two inches of thigh in her hips. The stumps of her arms and legs are covered in caps of verdigrised brass, each set with a single black-green crystal in the center. Floating a few inches away from the leg-stumps, the Maiden-who-Weeps-Crystal has two perfectly-formed digitigrade legs of obsidian with two taloned toes and a single spike growing down from the heel like a heel - both talons and the spike are made of the black-green crystal. Floating close to her arm-stumps are two pairs of shapely female arms (that makes a total of four arms), the fingers tipped with talons of the same crystal as her toes and heels.
Finally, from the crystals on her spine, the Maiden-who-Weeps-Crystal can form a variety of forms out of liquid green crystal. Usually she keeps it as four long ribbons that writhe in the air with a life of their own, but she can easily form them into large batlike wings or long, spiderlike arms should she wish.
