So I've been reading about this secret government plan to trick conservatives into thinking the Rapture is happening long enough for FEMA to take over the country, and it got me thinking, "Damn, this would be a good hook for a campaign".
Anyone else got some fringe material that could be added to this?
Also interesting is the finding that apparently 38% of Trump supporters could be kept away from the polls in the event of a UFO attack.

Can't go wrong with the classics: chemtrails, black helicopters, cattle mutilation (non-alien cause), CIA mind-control experiments, and the good old Philadelphia experiment.

What mundane items do you feel incredibly useful? I'm making a bit of a skill-monkey party face Arcane Trickster in 5e themed as a detective, so I felt like it would be good to have a focus on the regular utility gear. My current list includes some stuff from 3.5 shops but the DM said he's cool with it.
So far my list is:
Journal+Quill+Ink
Magnifying glass
Tongs
Bolt Cutters
Vials of Acid
Chalk
Ball Bearings
Grappling hook
Manacles+Locks
Ropes+Chains
Net
Whistle
Smokebombs
Small handheld mirror
Collapsible shovel
Vials of oil
Hourglass(?)
Magnet
Hunting Trap
Disguise Kit+ Thieves Tools
Expandable 10ft pole
+General living stuff, bedroll waterskin etc.
What should I add? What should I cut? its about 400gp or so total atm. We dont really care for encumberance but nothing large
Has a whistle been in any edition of dnd? I like the concept, and I don't think I've seen it before. Could potentially clash with your Rogue actions, or could be useful as a "oh shit I fucked the stealth roll please save me"
A compass
>>49950873
You want a whistle for each member of the party, each with a different pitch so you know who is where. That's an old trick.

A large bottle of booze. You can bribe someone with it or give it away to get them drunk, use it as a weapon both whole and broken, use it to disinfect wounds or as a pain killer, use it for fuel, make a flaming grenade, smash it on the run for impromptu caltrops.
I fully support your choice to go skill-monkey. They are the most fun to play.
Is there a limit to.what can and can't react apotheosis into a Daemon Prince?
If there was a dog who began purposefully spreading disease and started a plague, could Nurgle uplift it?
What if there was a sea anemone woth a noteworthy killcount? Could it be done a prince of Khorne?
What about plants or fungi? Are they legible?
I believe it's tied to will. Plenty of people in 40k have killed a massive amount of people, often in single combat, but if they've got no desire to serve the gods then the gods don't uplift them.
A dog could theoretically become a daemon prince, so long as it had the sentience and the drive to become one, after serving their god of choice.
>>49950606
it's 40k. the first question to ask is "would it be fucking cool?" then GW will take your answer and rinse it until it's diluted and lame enough to fit into their very-specific mold of how they want to manage their precious IP
>>49950606
>If there was a dog who began purposefully spreading disease and started a plague, could Nurgle uplift it?
>What if there was a sea anemone woth a noteworthy killcount? Could it be done a prince of Khorne?
Chaos gods can do whatever the fuck they want. The thing is they have no reasonto do so. A sea anemone kills a ton of fish or whatever, Khorne won't even notice that. If we are talking about a shark killing like 80 people over the course of a month, sure maybe Khorne will give it sentience, and eventually make it a daemon prince. He also might just give the shark mutations so it can breath air and walk on land, eventually it transforms into a full blown chaos spawn or chaos beast.
Why don't more RPGs have cute animal people as core races?
Aren't they one of the most popular races?

Isn't there *always* at least one beast-race in any given JRPG?
How well would the Great Crusade era Imperium, that is, all Primarchs still loyal and the Emperor alive and well, do against a much earlier Tyranid invasion?
Would they be stronger enough to possibly even repulse or push back the invasion, rather than just fend it off?
>>49950145
A single unified full sized Legion could probably handle it by itself and the Emperor would have the Hivemind's will shackled to his own by the end of the year.
>>49950145
Look what 1000 Ultramarines did to Behemoth. Now imagine 350,000.
>>49950145
It's a tough question, considering most people forget the lesser state of the Astra Militarum during that day (who have killed way, way more Tyranids than the Asrartes could ever do, but are at the same time feeding them far more.)
Without Necrontyr or particularly powerful Orkz to keep them at bay, though, I'm not sure the Legions could handle it. Few decades until they're phased out for more Automatons, is my guess.
So how do you guys think humans will improve themselves in the future
Becoming more like machines, with cybernetics, consciousness transferring, neural networks and what not or...
Will we modify our genetic code to make ourselves smarter, stronger, faster, sleeker and overall superior?
Or maybe both.... what do you guys think?
Real life science is not a traditional game.

Unless you're talking about Eclipse Phase or Transhuman Space this board doesn't care
For a scifi setting I've been working on I had one species achieve it by scooping out the brain and hooking it up to a VR simulaor while the brain itself was suspended in fluids to keep it alive, theoretically indefinitely... a small percent of the population rejected the process and were forced to live on the fringes of their world's habitable regions, until a sizeable faction of "transhumanists"... or would they then be called "transxenos"?... anyway... they decided to force this process on that population. At that time a human exploration ship discovered the planet and helped the population relocate to another system. Since the Transxenos never developed FTL, they were left to their own devices and ultimately fade into obscurity, while the relocated population went on to found an interstellar empire of their own and advanced the field of robotics and cybernetics across known space by centuries.

Good morning teegee! Today, we give communal worldbuilding a try. We've been world uilding for as long as this board exists, on our own or together. Let's combine our forces on this good day, and design a city together!
How to participate: just post something you want to add to the city, or its surrounding lands. Anything moderately reasonable is okay. Districts, buildings, infrastructure and the likes might be the first things you think about, but you can also contribute cultures, trade routes, guilds, gangs, notable people - anything you could reasonably be found in a city. You can also discuss concepts, post art to contribute and writefag.
To avoid having a LULSORANDUMBxxDDd setting, let's establish some general information first.
The setting will be early medieval, high-fantasy. We will be designing the city of Stagsvale and it's surrounding lands. The city is the capital of a small area, either a fully independent city state or a vassal state. The majority of the population is human.
That's all requirements! Lore up boys, I'll contribute myself too! First come first serve for all things, yet feel free to expand or elaborate on the work of others.
>>49948166
I shall contribute the logical suggestion that the city is located in a valley, and the nearby area is woodlands where stag can usually be found.
It is called Stagsvale after all.
This post also serves as an example:
>The Amethyst Court
This castle is located just outside of Stagsvale, atop a mountain overlooking the city of Stagsvale, and the Stagsvale, the valley in which the city is located, itself. The court is home to many young noble ladies, most of them unmarried. This is one of two reasons why it is named the Virgin Keep, the other being that it was never taken by enemies, even though the city beneath was, multiple times.
>>49948166
There is a small shop located between the second tailor's shop and the third smith's shop, in the road that runs parallel to Main Street. In plain letters it says 'Maggie's Mystic Marvels', and the old lady that runs it sells the most peculiar potions - from ones that allow you to breathe fire (as in, suck in fire instead of air) in order to heal yourself, or the one that sprouts herbs from your hair. I wouldn't recommend haggling with her, though, since the price's already low (like two copper and the name of a future child you'll have for that fire-breathing spell), and she's running the store all by herself, no family to know of. But do visit her store only after sundown during full moon, because any other time you'll only find the walls between the second tailor's shop and the third smith's shop.

Classes with "pets" are a dick to play with in most RPG systems. Nobody likes fighting the guy who just hides behind 10,000 skeletons or keeps summoning a new mook every time you kill their old one.
>with cell phones
Summoning classes in most tabletop systems can't do anything on their own. Their entire character is "I sit back and play Pokemon trainer while my pets do things for me! Then I take all the credit!"

>>49946086
if you threaten someone and they call their shifty friend on their cellphone and the shifty friend fucks you up then you know what its like to meet a summoner.
