rhysmakesthings.com/gm_friend - simple hexcrawl builder by anon
>Previous thread:
>>49844377
Continuing the discussion of dungeons that make sense, non-sensical dungeons, all of the dungeons.
Dungeons don't always need to make sense. Towers of mad wizards need to be nonsensical and unpredictable.
The idea that everything needs to make sense and be 'realistic' is a modern view that does not apply to original D&D. D&D is not a physics simulator.
>>49915536
No one's arguing for physics simulation, but consistency in theming can have great results. A necromancer's tower has a different flavour than a diviner's tower or a conjurer's tower.
Also a hexcrawl seed question for the new thread:
Who - or what - is the merchant who's set up shop in this dungeon? What kind of dungeons does the merchant favour, what is for sale (and what is required in exchange) and where do they tend to set up shop? (ex. the entryway, near a water source, etc.)
How does this image make you feel /tg/?
It makes me feel excited
I could get to sort all those cards!
>>49944441
I see a Swords of Revealing Light and a dinosaur I recognize but can't name with like a 1400 ATK, so I think this is relatively early game stuff, back when the Blue Eyes was useful, and a 1900 ATK level 5 normal monster was considered reasonable.
Mostly it just makes me sad that Toons were never a viable option.
>>49944656
Toons are decent right now.
And about OP, that image is how i feel when someone uses lawnmower, you see a faggot with no extra deck and 60 cards, first tought must be "ha this faggot sucks" and then he drops his entire deck and makes you his bitch

Read the 3e core book (link below). For the basics of combat, read this tutorial. It'll get you familiar with most of the mechanics.

Roll20 and the Game Finder General here on /tg/. With the new edition, though, chances are more games will crop up.

Onyx Path is run by raksha who have only a vague concept of human time.

no, you're just an illiterate ass and/or putting words in my mouth. nobody said anything like that. Only that the 3 devil tiger charms are more involved than "oh, I'll just learn these three charms now" I'm not even sure where you got the rest of that

wait...what ARE you talking about? because it isn't what I thought apparently. you may have gotten yourself confused halfway through typing?

or maybe I got confused. were the three charms you're talking about "teach swlihn how to bondage sex"? is that what you were having a problem with? :P

>Have you ever tried making something small and simple, like a one-sheeter or a pamphlet RPG? How did it go?
>>49866296
Bamp
I have yet to try a small-scale game. My group keeps looking for the next big campaign to tackle so I never really thought to go simple.
Question of my own: Are there any specific dice that are unanimously praised? I hear argument from time to time between some number of d6s and d20, but I'm wondering if there's ever a purely best dice set to use for a game or if it just comes down to the specific actions the game is featuring,
>>49867203
Its really subjective, comes down to what you think fits the math better. Some things are obvious; D6 is king for large amounts of dice per roll, while D20 should be limited to max 2 per roll. We are seeing more use out of the less common dice now, though. Fantasy Flight has started selling D10 packs for their games and regularly uses D8's, for example.
So, should character stats lower difficulty or add to the roll?
Right now I'm doing the former: the GM subtracts the relevant stat from the difficulty level. I did this so that it's faster for the player and they instantly know if the number on the die is good as soon as they see it. Also because this isn't a GM rolling system, it gives the GM a little bit more to do.

Thread Question:
When Volo's Guide to Monsters comes out, are you going to do your part and take pictures of all of the new races for us?
Dwarves can have 3 strength, and 4e was a work of art.
>>49954110
>When Volo's Guide to Monsters comes out, are you going to do your part and take pictures of all of the new races for us?
Nope, I'm going to sit here and bitch at people for not posting mega links because I'm too cheap to pay for it
Anons? I got a problem that maybe y'all can help me with. Couple of problems, actually.
Firstly, I just saw a thread on a homebrewed 5e Samurai class and... well, is there something wrong with me that my first thought about it was "what's the point"? I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but to me, it seems like the Samurai doesn't have anything you couldn't get if you just reflavored a Banneret or Battlemaster Fighter, or maybe an Oath of the Crown Paladin. At best I think you got a subclass for Monks in it, and that's only because I remember the Kensai fighter kit from Baldur's Gate II, and Monk's Iron Soul (weapon master) style and Soaring Blade (wuxia fighter) paragon path in 4e.
By the way, was Kensai actually an AD&D kit?
Second question; as someone who likes kobolds and wants to give them a place in his own setting, do you think Pathfinder's Kobold Bloodline for Sorcerers could be converted to work under the 5e Sorcerer subclass mechanics?
Link for reference: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/bloodlines/bloodlines-from-paizo/racial-bloodlines/kobold-bloodline-sorcerer-kobold
Finally, in a setting where humanity's official "hat", ala dwarves are toughs, elves are graceful, orcs are ferocious, etc, is "humans can breed with anything", does it make sense that human PCs could take a race-based Sorcerous Origin? Like, the aforementioned Kobold Bloodline Sorcerer - would human sorcerers with that Origin make sense in a world where they could actually have a kobold parent or ancestor?
Why didn't Elrond just shove Isildur into the lava?
>>49942278
>elf making a Strength check
go back to /tv/
>>49942278
It would've sparked a race war.
>>49942947
Also we wouldn't have had a story. Same reason the Eagles couldn't do shit.
Can we talk about ms.Tied Tits and Gay Generals now?
Gay as in homosexual or that you don't like them?
>>49942206
Both.
The Jeskai Green deck will feature a couple card with pic related.
>>49942293
Proud history of military gays. Fuckin' Sparta man.
Unless you're fucking manly enough to passionately fuck the other guys in the regiment, how can you trust that they will have your back in the shield line?
I'd never trust my life to someone who hasn't seen my erect penis.
Scared yet?
(Also: how to fix Necrons)
My suggestion is to give them all a cool offensive psychic effect when they die
>>49930298
>My suggestion is to give them all a cool offensive psychic effect when they die
My suggestion is that you kill yourself.
>>49930298
Are these the new immortals?
If so I'm a little sad cuz I liked the simplicity of their "we just strapped more Gauss rifles together" technology.
What do you think should be banned/unbanned in Modern in January?
>>49929621
Prized Amalgam is banned.
Cavern of Souls is banned.
Preordain is unbanned.
Stoneforge Mystic is unbanned,
Jace needs to stay banned, desu
>>49929629
No Mox Opal?
>>49929621
Modern should ban:
Ad Nauseam
Modern should unban:
Bloodbraid Elf
Honestly modern can handle Bloodbraid elf. The removal and counter suites can handle the 2-for-1 that Bloodbraid Elf delivers.
How do you make a campaign that has the same atmosphere and explores the same themes as Ex_Machina?
>>49923215
You mean a genetic "What is the lines between AI and Humanity" setting that was boring as fuck?
>>49923287
Also one where the AI is being tested in the least safe way possible short of hooking it directly into the internet.
>>49923215
I liked the movie but trying to make a game entirely about "does the robot love me?" sounds boring and navel gazey as fuck.
What would the Heart say about your character, anon?

>Setting:
our world in 2016
>Situation:
One person out of every million suddenly gains superpowers. These range from having nearly infinite strength to being able to fly up to 100mph indefinitely.
>Additional information:
These superhumans are also unable to go out in sunlight or else they'd instantly burst into flames that ignore superhuman defenses and recovery powers.
>Question:
What happens?
>>49954821
generic capeshit, with generic racism where people decide they're probably vampires.
>>49954821
Alright, you're gonna have to define nearly infinite strength for us here. Specifically, because you're either infinite or you're not, and whether or not it's infinite really answers the question of whether or not the world is destroyed as soon as he loses his temper and kicks or throws something.
>>49954821
Society collapses in a few weeks, same as every other scenario in which several hundred people are randomly given superpowers such as 'near infinite strength'. One of them punches the ground for shits and giggles and whoops there goes the eastern seaboard.
>You sustain injuries incompatible with life
>>49954337
That's a nifty way of saying you died.
>>49954337
But I wasn't even at Dreamworld!
Sauce on OP?
Dismayed brunettes are my thing
Have you ever run a game where magic is very limited and treated as generally phony by the population? There aren't vampires and for every legitimate fortune teller there are a thousand flaws, but the occult is quite real.
What system would work best? I'd expect something that supports investigative and social conflict more than standard roll for initiative stuff.
>>49952004
This is something I liked about Looper. Psykers are real, but all you can actually do with psychic powers is levitate a few grams of material at a time. The main character jokes that it's just an excuse to hit on girls in bars by floating coins around.and then we find out there's exactly one psyker who can actually get shit done with their TK.
>>49952064
What is that? Google only offers that Time-travel film.
>>49952403
It is the time travel film.
There are telekinetics in it.
