i watched 2 random Critical Role episodes. while I like Mercer, don't be fooled into thinking you must be like him. he is fairly good at what he does but it's just one particular GMing-style and your mileage may vary. (no D&D fan here and high level D&D is particularly blegh)

I've ran it. It's good for one shots. Character gen is the longest I've ever seem in any game ever, stats are decided in secret by comittee. Rolling up characters is the worst part of the game.

Other than that it's just a simple game of make believe with dice.
