Well...all the stretch goals were blown away in the first day so there's not much else to say.

I'm really hoping that he isn't going to spread the stretch goals over the current 3.8 million dollars instead of spacing them out per 100-200 thousand that he had originally put up with.

But he pulled the same shit on the last kickstarter with I believe slenderman covering a much larger gap than the others.

It's a shame that we could have had more stretch goals if the same amount of people sent in money more spaced out.

Harry is the powergamer who made a NG character (the type of good that allows for the most types of actions) and put all of his spell points in Patronus, the best attack spell. He even took the Nemesis flaw three separate times (Voldemort, Draco, Dudley) to get as many extra points as possible.

Ron is the firsttimer who just made up a character in five minutes without knowing the rules very well, and ended up with the weakest character.

Hermione is the "We must be prepared for everything!" gamer who designed his character to know the maximum possible number of spells, but can only roleplay one kind of person: himself, so she's kind of annoying.

Neville is the one who shows up only every fifth meeting and ends up falling really behind in experience, but gets a natural twenty in the final battle.

Luna is the DMPC whom everyone ends up loving.

Ginny is the DMPC whom everyone ends up hating.

The Imperials in 40k have their faith in a long dead man with no proof that he really could do anything to save humanity. That's old school religion, which is 100000 times more cool and interesting than sperging about warp science and real demon faggots just because they be real. Chaos confirmed for atheists, because warp gods aren't gods, but only powerful beings.

This isn't on topic, but the topic is shit anyway, but as an atheist, I don't get the meme, or honestly why any other atheist would feel euphoric "by my intelligence". Without any kind of post-life existence our lives are a completely meaningless nihilistic existence where we only go forward because it's the only thing we know how to do.

Why the fuck would I feel euphoric? There's a reason why religious people tend to be happier, and it's probably because they don't wake up realizing that any day they won't, and there won't be anything after that.

Atheism is a feel-good religion for a certai kind of disaffected outcast. Just ask Aalewis.

It's been a while since we last had a Go/Baduk/Weiqi thread.

Rumour has it Google is intending to make AlphaGo play more matches against the strongest human players early next year. Meanwhile, other engines mimicking AlphaGo like Zen have made lots of progress and achieved ~10d ranks at online servers like KGS.

How's your own progress?

Why does the Ecclesiarchy insist in calling everyone who abandons the faith Heretics?

Wouldn't worshipers of the Dark Gods be Apostates?

Hell, the Age of Apostasy is like the one time when they use the term, and they don't use it correctly. Vandire was a Heretic since he still professed his faith in the Emperor, was the boss of the Ecclesiarchy, but was fucking with doctrine and saw himself as above everyone.

Partly, because games Workshop's writing team are mostly comprised of total hacks.

But you could probably justify it with linguistic drift, and a total lack of interest in understanding or categorizing those who transgress the Imperial Creed; lumping them all into one homogenous detestible mass; Heretics, Xenos and Daemons.

You know the whole Red Scare thing in the States in the 50s and 60s?

Dial that up to 40,000 and set it loose.

The facts and terminology don't matter a damn bit. Apostates, Renegades, Heretics, Recidivists, Iconoclasts, and, I don't know, Atheists are painted with the same brush.

More realistically, the confusion came out of the old Hammer horror films and other pseudo-medieval films where a Witchfinder or a Monk points and shouts "Heretic!"

What a lovely thing to shout. Three syllables, it just rolls off the tongue, and you can really /shout/ the first syllable.

"Apostate" just doesn't sound quite as good. You can /hiss/ it in a menacing manner, but it's not as satisfying to denounce people with it.

So, thanks to horror films starring Vincent Price, comic books, and insufficient pedantry, we have all sorts of heretics in 40k.

And finally, Heresy is a negative definition - "Not Orthodox". So yeah, all those unbelievers and Chaos cultists and secret Pudding God clergy really are heretic - they don't believe in the Imperial Truth. They might /also/ be Apostates, if they renounced their previously held faith.
>>
>>50400173
Doubting the doctrines of the Ecclesiarchy sure sounds a lot like heresy to my ears, Brother-Anon.

Why does /tg/ act like this is a bad thing? You're like the D&D SJWs wanting everyone to be equal.

I basically tell my players at character creation now: "a high level wizard is far more powerful than a high level fighter".

So far nobody has complained. Not even the fighters. They accept that that's just the way it's supposed to be in fantasy.

What's he point of measuring things by level if the levels don't accurately rate characters against each other? It's just poor game design.

If high level casters are much more powerful than high level martials, it's obvious that low level casters are much less powerful than low level martials. At what level should they be equally powerful?

My fellow humans of the Sol Republic, a tragedy has occurred.

As you know, our war with the Glorbulans has dragged into its ninth year of on-and-off fighting. In the obscure Zeta-XX System, solar radar detected a fleet of ships entering from the galactic south. The officer in charge commanded a missile be sent at once--only for that missile to destroy a civilian merchant ship. It turned out that a Zorblaxian freighter had arrived much sooner than expected. An inspection of the radar system revealed that it was damaged and had misdetected the hyperspace signature.

The Zorblaxians are demanding that we turn over the officer in charge and cede the Zeta-XXY System, which both of our empires claim, in recompense.

As we all know, the Zorblaxians are technically neutral, but heavily favor the Glorbulans. It's extremely probable that they somehow sabotaged our radar system and sent that ship in knowing it would be destroyed, but no one can prove it. If we refuse their demand, they may use it as causus belli and declare for the Glorbulans formally. They aren't powerful, but it would heavily damage us politically. If we cede the system and turn over the captain, however, we'll look weak. If we accuse them of sabotage without evidence, we'll look like fools.

Let us assume that we will be unable to prove our innocence. What should we do?

We attempt to negotiate for one or the other they either get the officer or get the system, not both.
>>
>>50398193
Why did this officer fire without first identifying the target? He ought to be court marshaled.

And even if not, why can't we prove it was the radar system and offer compensation and justice?

Why do they have the right that we cede the System over a technical error? The issue is unrelated.

Our soldier screwed up, but the Zorblaxians are completely out of line. If they insist on those demands, then we don't negotiate with terrorists, and make the Zorblaxians' irrationality apparent to the rest of the galaxy.
>>
>>50398193

Firstly, I'd like to thank the Solar Bureau of Xenolinguistics for their exceptional work conveying to us the nuances of the Zorblaxian demand; A language which does not distinguish between objective and subjective imperatives can present a challenge for diplomacy if not properly interpreted.

More to the point, My fellow representatives from the Interplanetary Worker's Party, myself counted, have insisted time and time again for the necessity of The Solar Republic becoming a signature to the Galactic Accord on Interspecies Warcrimes.

We advocated this when it was our grievance made for the Canis Sterilizing.

We advocated this when the ICS Vasa was pillaged, Human and Glorbulan passengers alike captured and sold into the most base slavery at the hands of rogue military elements, now held unaccountable.

We bear no delusions that becoming signatures would end such barbarism, or much less sign any end to warfare. Our own history and unification tells us that institutions alone cannot unify and spell and end to strife and cruelty.

I feel like there needs to be a distinction made between realism and consistency in settings. I see people half-ass ideas for their settings all the time, and defend it with

>B-b-but it's fantasy bro, stop being such an autist

Just because a setting is fantasy doesn't mean that your ideas can just be spewed about willy nilly. That have to be internally consistent with the setting. They have to have purpose, and they have to be tied to some amount of logic. Otherwise the setting becomes completely unbelievable and serves more as an autistic escape than a living, organic world to explore and interact with.

Just my two cents.

This is on par with "there's too many white men in fantasy" levels of retardation.

People have been telling stories about fantastical bullshit for as long as people have been around. By claiming fantasy makes people miserable, you're claiming the entire genre of fiction makes people miserable. Spend a few minutes stewing over exactly how retarded you are.
