D&D 4e General /4eg/

How have fox hengeyokai featured in your games before, as PCs or NPCs?

If you are GMing, remember...
1. To strongly consider giving out at least one free "tax feat," like Expertise and pre-errata Melee Training.
2. To use Monster Manual 3/Monster Vault/Monster Vault: Nentir Vale/Dark Sun Creature Catalog math. Avoid or manually update anything with Monster Manual 1 or 2 math.
3. That skill challenges have always been scene-framing devices for the GM, that players should never be overtly told that they are in a skill challenge, and that the Rules Compendium has the most up-to-date skill DCs and skill challenge rules.

If you would like assistance with character optimization, remember to tell us what the what the rest of the players are playing, what books are allowed, your starting level, the highest level you expect to reach, what free feats you receive, if anything is banned, whether or not themes are allowed, your starting equipment, and how much you dislike item-dependent builds.
If you wish to talk about settings, 4e's settings are Points of Light (the planes and the natural world's past empires are heavily detailed in various sourcebooks and magazines), 4e Forgotten Realms, 4e Eberron, 4e Dark Sun, and whatever setting you would like to bring into 4e.

You have the opportunity to make one single /tg/ property into a solid 8.8 AAA game. It's got a couple flaws but all of the gameplay elements work well and the story is fantastic. What do you adapt and how do you do it?

A Guant's Ghosts rework of Battlefront 2. You start out as a basic bitch Imp Guard and can upgrade to Assaultmen, Rocketeers, Heavies and Flamers. The main campaign which takes about 20-30 hours tells the story of the first six books. Each planet has their own central hub where the player, as Gaunt, can explore different areas and aquire more weapons and gear for his soldiers. This opens up plenty of opportunites for sidequests and smaller skirmishes that you can undertake, weighing the risk and reward. You have a limited supply of equipment and you have to decide to equip your entire army with grenades to make them more effective as a whole or give the best weapons to the grunt you're playing as. You also have to coordinate with the other regiments and keep them happy as well. Do you turn your artillery on the enemy's arty or tell them to aim for the advancing troops? Do you use the Slave Corps as human shields on the front line or tell them to evacuate civilians? Or, depending on your actions earlier in the game, your allies may tell you to pound sand and refuse to help you at all.

If anybody could do it, CD Projekt Red would be my choice. Failing that.... maaaybe Bioware?

Inquisitor. It'll give you a chance to work with all the main factions of the Imperium through one party member each, and will have equal parts social and combat encounters. Three act structure to deal with each major ordo threat in a satisfying manner that doesn't diminish how deadly each of them are. And most importantly, it balances the black humor and grimdark. Also doesn't make you feel like the Imperium is unnecessarily evil

No scooters for me. Playing jeskai control with a little hank I am comfortable with.

Also reworking a splendid reclamation deck I was winning local fnm's with before kaladesh, just to see if it is still viable. Depending on how it feels might take it to Denver next week since it just destroys be delirium.
>>
Oh man, I remember a few years back I was thinking about getting a standard deck together. I had about 1,000 saved up in discretionary savings, which isn't really enough for a decent standard deck (2,000 is generally the bare minimum) but I figured I'd have it a go anyway. I found some good deckbuilds online and used those to try to build my deck. Then I got to the store and saw the actual cards, being 50 bucks for a sliver of paper. So I decided to spend my money on somethign actually enjoyable. I do do drafts sometimes though.

HERO? GURPS? M&M?

and why?

not concerned with the setting, just all of the elements as displayed in the show/manga.

>the right level of lethality.
>planned alchemy.
>spontaneous alchemy.
>alkahestry.
>homunculi.
>philosopher's stones and flawed/lesser philosopher's stones.
>using a single live human (yourself) as a philosopher's stone.
>drawing the energy for transmutations from different sources (leylibes, tectonic energy, souls, potentially other stuff).
>chimeras.
>transforming chimeras.
>medical alchemy.
>ensouled/haunted constructs.

i lean toward gurps because m&ms power scale seems insufficiently granular and their hp too swingy, and people dont die unless on purpose.

To answer your question, The Elder Scrolls, Warcraft, and Warhammer.

As for how I feel: kind of indifferent; they're fun when played to their strengths, but I'm not going to cry a river if nobody includes gnomes or elves because hobbits and humans already fill those niches.

ACE System v.25.pdf
1B, 486x500px
The ACE Universal Mecha Roleplaying System is a home made tabletop system meant for simple and fast paced Mecha Combat, as an alternative to clunkier systems like Silhouette and Mekton.

The system was born out of my desire to have an easy to use and modify system that I could take and use to run games in any sort of mecha setting, from Mazinger Z to VOTOMS. Most of the system's rules are based more on real robot style combat, and it shows in the combat.

Combat in the ACE System runs fast and quick. Rolls work on a 1d100+Attribute system: the character doing a think rolls a 1d100 and adds their attribute and any modifiers to it- if it beats the target then the roll is a success.

Which ship has the most physically capable crew?
222 posts and 22 images submitted.
>>
>>50391093
They're honestly probably near enough not to be that big a deal. Star Wars and Star Trek are both going to have a consistent amount of professionalism, but 40k has so much room for variety that some crews will be notably worse because press-ganged Hivers while others are going to be notably better because they're super-pro Astartes serfs or press-ganged Voiders or some shit.

Though in terms of what those crew fight, the armsmen of the 40k ship are drilled for repelling some crazy-ass boarders. Behind them are Trek, who are more hardcore than people give them credit for, and both can teleport combatants. Star Wars isn't used to their starship marines doing ship-to-ship actions so far as I'm aware.
>>
>>50391093
Jesus Christ, the Imperium of Man sure builds em' big.

If we're talking in terms of which crew is the most professional, it's pretty much an even split between the Starfleet and Galactic Empire crews.

The feds only let the best of the best on their starships. If you manage to make it on board a Galaxy class cruiser then clearly you're hot shit. The Galactic Imperial Navy crew comprises of a higly trained crew and unwaveringly loyal shock troops.

Whereas the 40k Imperial Navy is made up predominantly of idiot slaves. Sure there are fine officers and zealously loyal shock troopers aboard, but the mojority of the crew were born on the ship to families of slaves. They will likely spend their entire lives as weapon loaders or repair teams.

As for which ship I'd least like to board, absolutley 100% the Mars battle cruiser. Those same slaves that live and die below deck likely make for an overwhelming shipboard defence for anything that isn't a superhuman killing machine.

By comparison, a few shipboard security officers or the least accurate stormtroopers in the universe don't seem so frightening.

> pathfinder

Dumb unbalanced bullshit where a character can end up with a 22 AC at level 1 and start with 22 HP from smoking opium. This kind of broken ass shit fucked up my last campaign. Oh, and caster supremacy, that makes it even worse.

> Savage Worlds

A really good core system and idea (the stats dice, the toughness mechanic) is ruined by the goddamn Bennies that reward you calling off the session after you use them up, and hoarding them for when you take 65 damage from a halfling's thrown pebble. Not to mention shotguns that let you automatically hit because they give the d20 equivalent of +8 to hit from the "buckshot spread" which in reality is not that much. Overall it's a couple good ideas that are ruined by developers who think their shit doesn't stink. And defended by an autistic community who can't see a flaw in their faggy Indiana Jones game. So, basically like Pathfinder.

> Dungeon World

This isn't even a game really, it takes the cool mechanics of Apocalypse World and adds hit point bloat and combat maneuvers instead of fiction-affecting moves, except it has those too so as to further confuse the narrative. Half the stats don't matter because you can "defy danger" to dodge a fireball with charisma if you can justify it to the fucking DM that you deflected the fire with the sheer force of your ego, the game fucking allows it so long as it "fits the fiction." Apocalypse World was not nearly this autistic, and also had interesting classes. This has the same standard D&D classes, and turns Apoc World's core mechanic into a boring shitfest. The combat could be cool if the moves system was designed for prolonged combat but it isn't. It's not even good for freeform, there are better freeform systems out there. It's literally only popular because its heroic fantasy genre.
>>
Also:

> players needed: 6

This is fucking retarded. You want six (6) players for a Pathfinder game? Nigga I run Pathfinder on a weekly basis for 6 fucking people. It is not pleasant. Especially because Pathfinder players are spergs who always want to wander off by themselves and do their own shit. Fuck that. 6 players is just a goddamn handful anyway. Four max. 6 players in a Savage Worlds game is similarly fucking broken, if you're doing this online you're gonna have to flood the board with miniatures to keep the group challenged. You'll probably try to run it like Pathfinder though, with single-monster encounters, and get absolutely BTFO.

> If you are interested in joining, you must submit a 1000 word character backstory for each system, which will be subject to review.

Holy fucking shit, kill yourself. I am not submitting 6 pages of info just to join your shitty campaign. When doing the acid test, you're supposed to go with fucking hydrochloric not jump straight to fucking hydroflouric, faggot.

> If you are interested in GMing one (or all) of the systems, you must use those 1000 words to explain why you love the system so much.

Am I back in fucking high school?

> - What the best edition of the system is

I hope you're trolling with this because each of these systems have one fucking edition. Except Savage Worlds but even that really isn't a new edition, despite what it says on the deluxe/explorers books.
