The images I had saved in my mtg folder were all standard cards or cards also fine in legacy. Griselbrand, Grave-Troll and Amalgam were among the other options for OP post. I figured Skred was appropriate because it won GPDFW.

Confession: I am an unabashed questfag. I understand why the decision was made to give quest threads their own board, but I still miss them here sometimes.
On a related note, do you consider play-by-post games to fall under the definition of traditional games? I thought it was inventive for posters to create their own roleplaying games using the format of forum threads, but when I stopped to think about it, I began to wonder what exactly defines play-by-post games as traditional, but quest threads as.. something else. Does something only require collaborative make-believe storytelling and a set of rules to bind it together to be in the realm of traditional gaming, or is there something more?

Literally every topic imaginable, and I mean LITERALLY ANYTHING, is a traditional game, except when it isn't.
For example, a music album is a traditional game: https://boards.fireden.net/tg/thread/50376726/#q50376726
There is no pattern to what is on topic and what is off topic. Some anons have to follow the rules, and other anons don't have to follow the rules. /tg/ is just /b/ without porn. Abandon all hope and all reason.
>>
>>50411341
The problem with quest threads isn't that they potentially traditional games. Some of them most certainly are. Its that they numbered a third of the board, and no real connection to the rest of the /tg/ community. They're harder to understand then a general for a game you don't play. I say this as someone who ran a quest.

I wouldn't be happy with someone running their weekly DnD game on here either, it's just too exclusionary.

That said, play by post games are traditional games, and a thread about sites or ways to play play by post is totally welcome.

Take a look a this. You're allowed to post threads that are a single line of greentext saying ">a thing happened", except when you aren't. You're not allowed to ask what the difference is.
What is off topic? Whatever the mod decides is off topic at that precise moment, which is essentially random. Rules? What rules? You suffer for the mod's amusement.

So, It's coming up to Christmas and I've been thinking of getting a Fantasy Flight 40K Role Playing book, and I've decided on running a campaign with Dark Heresy with a few friends.

The problem what I have found is which edition is best mechanically, and I'm not entirely sure what will be best for me, so I pose the question, which Dark Heresy edition is best for such a GM like me and which will be easier to get hold of

2nd edition is more steamlined, 1st edition has way more material and adventures published.
Both have their issues and imbalances, as in 2nd E didn't solve all the existing issues (it did solve some) and added others.

The biggest difference:
1st: Character classes and money
2nd: Classless affinities and requisition via influence

All things considered, I'd say 2nd E.

Ps : FFG has lost the licence. The game is no longer supported, and as a result there will be no more expansions.

Also, don't go to the 40kRPG general when it appears. It's full of cancerous faggots who use homebrew and run meme games.

One of my players goes out of his way to thank me for running the game after every single session. It's just a little thing, but it keeps me going when I look at my notes and feel like everything I've written is trash.
>>
>>50410415
Thanks man, these threads really help.

I finally got one of my players off his phone and into the game! We tweaked his character's backstory and personality a bit, so now he's a lot more invested in the game and his Character!
>>
>>50410415

So I'm really happy with my players. I'm storyteller for a changeling group, and I'm running a sandbox. Basically the entire concept I had was based off the idea what if you came out of the hedge and had no support group?

For those of you who don't know pcs in changelings are all survivors of kidnappings by extradimensional beings. Most get taken as adolescents or kids. They spend some time in a hellscape, and then they escape. Usually when they get back to our world the local group of other changelings help you get on your feet. Magical and political shinanigans then ensue.

My Idear was what If you had no support group? You would have few life skills, no social security number, nothing. So I ran a game where they came out, had nothing, and the local changeling community had devolved into gang warfare between different factions.

Basically it was pretty free form. I had things happening, but it was there choice whst to do and how to interact. I'm really happy with them cause they haven't just sat around waiting for me to point them at whst they need to do next. They aren't passive, they are actively making plans an doing things on their on. Pushing the game forward. And it's making me really happy.

Also, good for you op. Good for you. Not to tangent, but mayhap while we are here we could all discuss what we can do to contribute to the community?

Does anyone ever actually finish their campaigns? I don't think I've ever actually finished a long-term game.

Shit always comes up, or the GM gets bored or frustrated, or I get bored or frustrated if I'm running.

I was having this problem until I started to run my games in Chapters that had fairly self contained endings. I'll alternate settings between chapters and ones that I'm bored of will just never come back up. As long as each chapter has a suitably self contained storyline with a satisfying conclusion players are fine with it.

We've gamed for about 7 years as a group now. I n that time, we have finished... 3 long term campaigns, two of Dark Heresy, one of Call of Cthulhu.
We also completed a pair of short Unhallowed Metropolis games, and had two semi-accidentally ended games of Aces & Eights. In general, what happens is they just sort of peter out or someone deeply involved in the game moves away. Or we just all can't get together for weeks on end.
I've literally had the last session of a Deathwatch game planned for more than a year, and I just can't get the gumption together to get everyone together to play through it.

There's no reason to make friends with someone whose mind won't bend.

So always take suggestions, but always consider them thoroughly before implementing anything.
The GM is subservient to his players if he wants to run a game, but that doesn't mean he just gives them what they want. No one knows what they actually want.

OK /tg/, you are in a world of heroes and villains, and must build a organisation to take over the planet.

How would you do it? Bonus points for detailing the executives of your organisation, and how you'd try to deal with the heroes that would attempt to stop you.

Gonna get crucified for bringing this up, but DIO in JoJo is a good example of a vampire that maximizes the use of his abilities. In Phantom Blood, he was heavily characterized as enjoying his powers and really being showy about it. He makes undead minions out of anyone he comes across, as well as weird monsters like animals with people heads and shit, just because he can. In Stardust Crusaders, he becomes obsessed with boosting The World's ability to become even more powerful, too.
From a character perspective, he's really a selfish prick and evil for the sake of evil, but he's all about the immortality and the vampire powers and shit.
