Is there some background or history for the pantheon?
That'd be cool.

I actually just got done creating the nitty-gritty. But if you guys could help flesh it out, that'd be awesome

Make a family tree.
Also your names are TERRIBLE but thats fine if you're plaing DnD. We can workshop better ones if you want, but the fact that you put pen to paper and came back with names like "Shieldred" and "Libus" is hilarious.

A modern Eberron would basically be a slightly less backstabby, less capitalist Shadowrun, I imagine.
Feel like posting some character portraits from CRPGs. Post 'em if you got 'em, and if you see any cool ones then tell me what you think of 'em or what kinda character you'd make.
Starting off with the big, bad Irenicus himself. I don't have the PC portraits from Baldur's Gate so hey if you do, give 'em a post.
Man, say what you will about CRPG love interests these days, but at least they're not this nerd.
Greetings /tg/,
I have a question we can discuss, but it might require a bit of explanation.
I have the sort of mind that follows along tracks until they reach their logical end.
Sometimes, while my mind is quickly rushing along this way, I miss the obvious.
This happened to me a number of years ago resulting in an interesting situation that I’ve been meaning to mention to y’all but never got around to it.
>be me
>be killing time in some store
>see a video game system demo
>sound is disabled so I can only guess what game the promotional video is about.
>it’s clearly about a prison, or possibly lunatic asylum
>seen one inmate a couple times, maybe he’s the protagonist
>maybe you have to try to escape, seems like a cool idea
>cops are outside, clearly a riot going on inside
>Seems like the game has potential to be badass
>inmates are violent, but they’re probably patients
>they seem crazy
>look at that one fighting, he’s absolutely insane
>why would he put that on?
>and where would he even find a bat costume?
>Wait a minute.
This was an immediately recognizable cultural icon which I’ve known for as long as I can remember that I was allowed to see for a moment as a completely unknown entity and see them for how truly bizarre they are.
I find ttrpgs are excellent for this, because the GM can describe characters, places, and events without being obvious (sometimes), leading the players to respond as their characters naturally would, without unconsciously meta-gaming with their familiarity.
But as I’ve mostly GM’d and I don’t copy characters wholesale, my stories would simply be summed up as listing off characters my npcs were based off of. And I have no real recent examples.
My question is this:
In or out of game, has the situation ever happened to you where you were presented with something you were intimately familiar with, but saw it with fresh eyes?
>>50414808
tldr but from the amount you wrote I'm guessing we're dealing with some hardcore autism.
>>50414831
TLDR: he played Batman: Arkham demo without realizing it was about Batman. Suddenly epiphany that it was batman made him realize that hey, if you approach it from a new angle, it's a completely new experience.
I hoped my question would have functioned as a tldr, but:
>>50414852
Basically this, only it was just the video demo.
>>50414831
>I'm guessing we're dealing with some hardcore autism
Eh, only when I'm posting online.
I think in ways that are stupidly detailed and convoluted to talk like.
It tends to come out a bit when I post.
Irl I'm damn affable.
So practically every other RPG that gets made today has some sort of some sort of 'Meta currency' option that the player can choose to spend to give themselves an edge in a check, usual in the form of a reroll. They typically get called something like Bennies, Inspiration or Fate or Drama points.
/tg/ seems to hate the concept with a passion and associate them, 'hipster narrative indie bullshit', but even old school hardcore shit like Warhammer role-playing game has had Fate Points, way back in the 80s.
Anyway do you like or dislike the concept, and if so why?
If you have an issue with them what exactly is your reasons?
Personally playing WHFRP at least. I just them found to do much of a God stat. It was better to be luckier than smart.
>>50413021
I think Meta Currency is acceptable if it is handed out as a reward for roleplaying
Paladin refuses healing even though he has a gaping chest wound because the villagers he just saved need it, give that man a fate point
>>50413021
>If you have an issue with them what exactly is your reasons?
The point of heroism is that it is exceptional and often at personal cost. I think such mechanical awards cheapen the impact of roleplaying heroism.
Second, I find that narrative mechanics tend to reinforce genre conventions more than relying on the pure oracular power of the dice.
>>50414199
Pretty much this.
>The etchings indicate it is psionic sir!
>yes, but what does it _DO_?
>>50411529
It stabs them in the head.
>>50411529
Snicker-snack?
>>50411585
>It stabs them in the mind
How do you handle character death?
No, not how willing are you to kill a pc. How does your character react to a fellow party member dying. A funeral? Taking their body to their family? Taking their loot and leaving the rest for the crows?
My character is going to die, I want to make sure his death isn't instantly forgotten.
>>50410862
Depends on group and method of death, honestly. Some groups bury the body (assuming one exists), some loot them. This is a scenario where more details are important and talking to your fellow players about what/how they want to handle the death is really valuable.
>>50410862
If it were me I would start searching for something strong to die heroically holding off for my friends to escape
Even if I have to start the fight!
Are they traditional regressive basement nerds or have they managed to accept the changing times? Tell me your stories.
>>50410801
I run a game at my college games club. last week all my players had a heart felt discussion about being bullied in school. Turns out my whole group has autism or ADD. Not sure how to feel to be honest. They're good people and I like playing with them but I just can't relate to their experiences.
The local games store is no better. Smells of balls and has nothing decent in stock. Its going out of business soon from what I heard, good riddance.
>>50410801
actually its pretty well varied and has incredibly low levels of autism.
LGS
Smells of balls
What else can I say? The autism level is peak. Everyone in there thinks they are incredibly smart and it's just kinda sad.
What's the single greatest disaster your group ever caused?

>>50405506
>the guys who won vs the guys who didn't win
gee, I wonder
the two knights gangbang the honourless cur, then have a knight-off
>>50405506
Grail Knights are better in about every way.
Grail Knight blood can hurt both of the other twos and hell Louen Leoncoeur killed one of Nurgle's Greatest Unclean Ones with his blood.
Not only that Grail Knights have immortality without any side effects along with a lot less mutations that could be detrimental to them.
Bretonnian Knights are already fucking scary enough as it is considering they could trample your ass and have blessings of the Lady regardless.
If you think that's bad either most Grail Knights get holy magical powers in the form of Celestial Lore or some other stuff from the Lady, Along with that there's also the Paladins who could possibly take on the Chosen AND Blood Knights.
But honestly Chaosfaggotry is so fucking overblown because of how hard GW sucks chaosdick for their pet faction so you're probably going to have 1000s of replies saying "muh chaos can never lose" even though they have to directly influence the material realm so much while other gods laugh at how weak they are.
Yeah we can go based off of the Age of Sigmar fluff if you want to but Old Fluff from 5e is better to me.
>Casters are commonplace but are just as strong as fighters
>Casters are very rare but are significantly stronger than fighters
Which do you prefer?
>Casters are commonplace but are significantly stronger than fighters
You know, the D&D way.
>>50401590
It really varies from setting to setting. Whatever is best for the story at hand.
Personally, I like magic users a little more rare and a little more powerful, however, I also consider level a measure of power, not a measure of experience, so an equal level martial is simply a more exceptional specimen than his equal level caster equivalent fluffwise.

Thanks for making a new thread!
Here's a question for the new general: Are there any AD&D rules worth adding to a Basic D&D/retroclone system?
Hey OSR- I've been working on my urban fantasy game. While I still don't have any psychic powers to show, the draft is almost completed.
Any feedback or advice on improving the rules? I'm especially anxious to see if the starting cash and equipment purchasing rules work, I hope I didn't give the players too much or too little.
>>50355839
The disease rules aren't half bad from AD&D 1e.

context this
This is nowhere near finished, but it is a very rough draft of the atlas I'm making for one of my worlds. Basically, it's my attempt at a D&D setting; I generally don't enjoy the D&D official settings, and I don't enjoy using D&D tropes because I prefer low-magic fantasy. But since this one is closest to D&D I figure this is the one worth working on since it's similar to what people already know.
I guess I'm looking for feedback, for suggestions, for praise too.
>>50384128
>Magic, is your setting low magic, high magic or no magic at all?
High Magic.
>If you have magic, how do you power it? Where is the source of the power?
Mana for wizards, seals or rituals can also substitute this.
>What makes you mage? Is it born power only given to few chosen or can everybody use it?
Anybody can use it, but there is a gradient of "natural talent". If you suck ass, you generally don't bother.
>How does the magic users do magic? Do they need staffs, long rituals or just by flick of a finger?
Incantations for wizards, but some groups (e.g. summoners) need rituals. People who aren't talented at magic can use seals. Tools aren't necessary, but are helpful.
>How effective is the magic?
Depends on how good you are. Untalented people will produce shitty magic, but talented people can be worth 100 soldiers. That said, there are some species that are magic immune and will murder the everloving shit out of you.
>Is there taboos or forbidden things in magic?
Demon summoning, necromancy. Sacrifice. The usual stuff.
>How does new mages learn their craft? Schools, apprentices or something else?
Apprenticeships or churches usually. There is a guild for wandering mages.
>Pointy hats Yes or No?
Not a requirement, but many wear it anyway.

So there's no way to download adversary decks out there right?
I do need more enemies.
Is it a good idea to integrate elements of the PT, like Separatists, into an EotE campaign?
so were Tarkin and Vader friends, or were they like wargaming buddies who move in the same circles and had some respect for eachother but didn't really have much of an opinion on the other person?
