What do you think of Ironclaw as a system? The setting is furry trash, but I very much enjoyed the stepped dice pool mechanics. Any comparable systems? Has anybody else run or played it?

I myself ran a few games in it for about a year with a gang of furries, which was... an experience.

Well, share your experience.

And the .pdf, if you have it.
>>
I really like the dice pool system, too. I honestly don't mind the setting that much either, because even though a lot of the art is horrid the lore itself it actually pretty solid. Probably the best system out there for running any sort of Redwall-themed game. Every game I've run has been with chill people (and the only guy I suspect might have been an actual furry keeps it in check pretty well), so it's just like any other system where the people who do fetishy shit are probably predisposed to do it regardless of the system.

The same company has been building up the mechanics in a couple other products, and Urban Jungle is pretty neat as well if you want a noir slant to the gameplay.
>>
I enjoy it. The martial arts is nice, as is the lethality. I enjoy Dice pool.
When setting appropriate, I usually switch out Savage Worlds for this and trim out the furshit.

Hello, I've never played Cygnar but I got lots of warjacks for a steal.

I have Maddox but I wanted to build something with stormknights. Mainly the malcontents so full unit + 3x WA + UA + captain. Any advice for which casters jacks would work best?

Well, there's a feat in 5E that lets you completely negates being surprised. I'm not really sure how it would work fluff-wise. Maybe they've got really good hearing or something and reacted fast enough. I guess he didn't "know they were there", but reacted fast enough after they sprung into action.

>Your PCs are a team of couriers and mail-carriers tasked with delivering supplies and communications between remote mining and fishing communities in the frozen northlands.

>Together, you crew a large crawler vehicle, designed to haul cargo through the snow and provide comfortable if cramped shelter for its operators as they make their appointed rounds.

>As the government's presence and ability to respond to incidents and accidents in this region is tenuous at best, the PCs are often asked to help with a wide range of situations.

>Most of these are mundane in nature, like delivering a time-sensitive letter to the next town along their route, checking in on an elderly prospector or repairing a faulty generator.

>Sometimes though, the situation is more creepy, like running across a "cursed" unfinished rail line, like investigating mysterious disappearances or sighting otherworldly creatures.

What are some potential cozy or creepy quest hooks, happenings and set-pieces for the crew of a roving snow-crawler to come across as they traverse the great white north?

I adore vehicles like that, I have a cross section of one of the older soviet ones, but sadly no interior shots of the newer version that's got two parts connected via articulation.
>>
>>51108339
>"cursed" unfinished rail line

>About 20 years before the events of the campaign, the government tried to establish a rail line reaching up into the northern reaches. It was plagued with bizarre setbacks, accidents, and deaths, and it's construction was finally cancelled when three seperate sections were buried under rockslides and avalanches on the same day.

This is part of the reason why snow crawler couriers are needed.

I have a couple of questions, regarding both Dungeon World and PbtA games in general. I'm interested in trying my hand at making an AW hack, but I'm at a loss on where to get started. Is there anything specific I should know? As for DW, I just want to know what exactly went wrong with it, or what people dislike about it so much. I want to make a fantasy game, so I'd really like to avoid the pitfalls DW made.

AW is good because it has rules for everything you might do in the setting, but not for anything else.
DW is bad because it doesn't manage to do either of those.

So by that you mean that it's a caster that uses the "left mouse button" option most of the time? Because that's how martials mostly work, and that's how warlock works, I guess.

I need some advice /tg/, but first a story

Dming a DND 5E game

>players stumble upon a portal to hell
>path to getting there is an elaborate ritual where demons try to tempt the players into "giving them a name"
>no tricks or lies, the players are told outright that the person they name has to be someone "they care about"
>if they give a name the named person will experience untold suffering while they're rewarded with wealth/power/etc.
>players get through 6/7 chambers to get to the portal to close it
>final chamber, big bad demon tells them that he will target one person and one person only
>will only change target if a name is given
>gives the party a chance to THINK of a target (i give them slips of paper and ask them to write something down)
>after a moment, the demon laughs and says "Good choice"
>in reality, everybody wrote "no name" or "fuck off"
>secretly roll a d6 to determine target
>get the mage
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>demon targets the mage relentlessly
>he's asking 'what the fuck! who gave my name!'
>nobody has any idea, but they shelve it for later cause there's still a big demon to fight
>whole party lays buffs on top of mage while trying to body-block for him
>its not enough
>demon grapples everyone out of his way or just tanks reactions attacks, keeps swinging for mage
>mage gets down to 3 hp and he's fucking scared
>the party still has a cleric with revivify and a paladin with revivify scroll and the diamonds necessary
>even if mage does goes down there's still a good chance he can come back
>demon's turn comes up and he takes the time to tempt the mage one more time
>"Give me a name, mortal. These men here are no friends of yours. You owe them nothing. Give me a name and not only will I spare your life, I'll grant you wealth and power. I'll even do away with this portal you desire closed. Just give me a name."
>mage closes his eyes and sighs
>"Ok."
>he gives me the cleric's name
>>
>whole party is stunned
>I'm shocked
>me, mage and cleric have been friends since college, the longest out of everyone at the table
>mage was one of the last people I would have expected to betray someone like that
>I shake off my shock and get back in character
>demon smiles
>"A wise decision, mortal."
>demon shifts target to cleric and starts hammering him
>cleric is asking mage "WHY?"
>mage replies "You had the most health and the highest AC"
>it's true because the demon is having a lot harder time getting cleric down
>party uses up everything to save cleric, popping potions and spellslots
>they set up a perfect bodyblock formation around cleric with summoned minions and so on
>finally demon is whittled down
>he dies laughing
>"Fools, I've already won."
>the portal closes
>day is saved, yadda, yadda
>cleric is exhausted, but alive and upset at mage
>he takes off his helmet and that's when party notices that he has a mark on his neck
>the demon's symbol is inscribed in his neck like a fresh cut
>rest of session is spent freaking out
>surprisingly not a friendship-ending betrayal
>cleric is still shocked, but takes it like a champ
>while mage says that he was the first target and anyone else would have done the same in his position

I end the session shortly after because holy shit I really wasn't expecting anyone to give a name

Now, this whole situation is really unfair for the cleric

He did nothing wrong, but the whole situation is set up so that he suffers for the mage's gain. Of course I can easily set up an ironic twist for whatever "rewards" the mage gets, but cleric just suffers for no reason.

I'm not sure HOW yet and that's the problem. Too severe and it's just harsh. Too light and it makes this (pretty great) moment worthless.

So yeah, /tg/, besides being chased by demons every now and again a la Berserk, what can I do with this mark on the cleric?
>>
I don't see the problem. Stop babying your players, they're adults.

Why hasn't anyone made a RWBY system, fa/tg/uys? I've been looking, and nothing seems to exist. I honestly think this world would translate well to the tabletop. What do you guys think?
25 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
the setting certainly seems conducive for gaming, but a number of the rules of the setting are very handwavy, the limits to what semblances and dust are capable of haven't really been explored, so any system built would be half speculation and half bullshit.

also the incredibly dynamic fighting styles would be hard to properly capture in a tabletop format. I can't imagine how to make turn-based combat as viscerally exciting as nonsensical high-speed flippy shit
