Has anyone gotten their mitts onto this game yet? Just bought the rulebook on GooglePlayStore. Looks like Ash and Owen each did their own batreps with little scenarios which are neat.

I was hoping to use some Dark Age miniatures ( Forsaken Controller, Forsaken Dedlock, CORE Tallman/DRG-Y) since they have the detail I like and they are all pretty different. I would use my Infinity stuff, but it's not fitting the aesthetic I am going for.

Are there people out there that have tried this with great success? On paper, it looks like it has so many options and different ways to play since it has a lot of RPG elements in it. What models do you guys use? What are some of the missions you have done?

Sorry, a little overzealous at the moment. Really want to pick up some new models and get them ready to do some crazy scenarios.

>Osprey seems to be pumping out a huge number of games lately.
They started publishing games. They're not the ones making them.

>Are they all using the same system, are they any good?
Obviously depends on the author.

I recently got my copy haven't read it yet.
Been already perusing various manufactuers for my possible crew though. I'm excited about it, too.
>>

I have it. Haven't had a chance to play yet, though. It is exciting. The author also did song of blades and heroes, which is a great fantasy skirmish bring-your-own-minis game, and some of the same design elements were borrowed from that, which I enjoy. This is just a little more rules intensive then sobah. And as others said, it's borrowed a few RPG elements. It seems less like a necromunda-esque skirmish game and more like you're commanding a group of PCs against another group of PCs

Glorantha! Runequest! We love them for their heroic themes, Bronze Age mythology, and fascinating magic, and ducks!

So why not talk about them?

Specifically- my GM is running a Glorantha Runequest game- something I've dreamed of for ages! However- while theistic magic slots in to the setting as easily as a cattle raid, sorcery is far harder- traditionally "sorcery" in Glorantha specifically refers to the magic of the west, but Runequest sorcery is very broad in scale- it'd fit fine in king of dragon pass as orlanthi magic. In short- I need something that integrates Runequest and Glorantha magically and economically. Now lots of sourcebooks exist- but they're all crunch free or from earlier additions!

But wait, I found mention of just what I was looking for- Adventures in Glorantha, a preview of a new R6 style rule book that is R6 style Glorantha! And it's coming out soon!

... according to posts most recently mentioning it in 2015. Couldn't find a thing more recent.

Now AiG is already out and has most of what I want, buuut I can't find a scan and what physical copies I've heard of sold out for 600+ dollars.

Is there any more recent information on either of these products, or better yet, the pdfs themselves?

>So why not talk about them?

Because the "we" in this context is like three people that post on /tg/

And Sorcery isn't just a Western thing, most of Lankhor Mhy's 'cult magic' is Sorcery, a lot of it originating from the EWF or Godlearners.
>>
>>51052497
RQ6 I'm assuming?

Yeah, as >>51052551 says, Lhankor Mhy's cult knows sorcery... properly purified of course.
And of course there's other sorcery cults in central Genertela. The Lunars have a bunch, but you can also find them in the Holy Country, such as the House of Black Arkat.

See, that's exactly what I wanted to know but couldn't find! It's very hard to make a magic tradition when you don't know where it's based off of. So, purified god learner sorcery- what is god learner sorcery like? I know they blended and abused myth, but not enough about their magic to make a tradition.

Also, mysticism. I'm guessing it'd be blended in with warrior god cults for super warriors, am I right?

For those of you who don't know, a MacGuffin is a concept popularized by Alfred Hitchcock around 1940 and is an object, usually mysterious or vaguely discribed, that drives a plot without a clear idea of what it is or why the characters should chase it.

It is used nowadays by most film critics and executives as a pejorative attribute to a plot, because it has been used a lot by hollywood as a way to make simpler plots (and especially Marvel in its Cinematic Universe with the Infinity Stones).

But when Hitchcock (do I need to remind you why Hitchcock knew what he was talking about ?) described most of his plots using the term 'MacGuffin' it was absolutely not in a perojative manner, because he used the MacGuffin as a way to deceive the viewer into thinking the mysterious object is the actual goal of the film and then surprising him with what is inside or what it all lead to.

So if cinema has lost the meaning of a MacGuffin as Hitchcock used it, I believe RPG can still show cleverness with using this trope.

I want to discuss it because it is a common form of scenario that deserves more attention and care than it seems from what pop culture has made of it. How would you do it ? How did you do it ? Do you have stories of MacGuffin scenarios used well or in a terrible way ?

TL;DR : Let's talk microfilms and magic stones that the players need to retrieve, but done well.

I almost always use McGuffins because I'm fucking lazy.

The party come into ownership of some object, (I just realized literally every single one was the result of the PCs stopping a bank robbery and finding the object on the thieves, huh) that object then turns out to be mysterious and powerful and significant and usually bound to them in some irreversible way.

And it leads the plot.

Means that the plot becomes robust and resistant to unexpected swerves, so you can have a narrative without railroading. Also, as I said, I'm fucking lazy.

Here's how the thread works: http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Random
Click this to get a power, but make sure to post dice+1d100 in the options field to roll for how strong your power is. Teams are made up of five members, with the first five powers rolled as the first team, the next five as the second, and so on.

New stuff! We have a system for hero to hero combat. Combat is best of rounds, using D20's. Depending on the amount of power you have determines your rank, PL 1-9 being the lowest and 90-100 the highest. Additional dice are gained depending on your rank.

>PL 01-09: 1d20
>PL 10-19: 2d20
>PL 20-29: 2d20
>PL 30-39: 3d20
>PL 40-49: 3d20
>PL 50-59: 4d20
>PL 60-69: 4d20
>PL 70-79: 5d20
>PL 80-89: 5d20
>PL 90-100: 6d20

You also get a +modifier if you are a higher power than your opponent, equal to the difference in power.

So!
Let us talk revolutions and games about revolutions!
Question one
Which type/stage of the revolution would you prefer to play? Anticolonial? Communist? Anti-slavery? Religious? Respublican?
Peaseful and political or a bloody conflict after a terrorist campaign?

Also: Revolutions/Civil Wars tiers:
Great October Revolution of 1917: still the greatest tier
French revolution: 4 monarchy restorations later tier
American revolution: hold out until french do the job tier
Chinese revolution: Taiwan still stronk tier
Meidzi revolution: for the emperor! tier

One of the most fascinating subjects for revolutionary struggle is "where is the money coming from" .Sure, one would need enthusiasm but for any big endeavour you need money

For example, russian revolutionaries were either:
a) financed by wealthy Old Believers
b) self-financing via robberies and such
c) financed by foreign agencies (SChiff bank house, english secret services, japanese in 1905)

For South American revolutionaries (or, for example, mojahedeen/taliban) drug trade is the main source of income. Point is, money has to come from somewhere

What kind of qualities should a fantasy metal have? Do you use your own fantasy metals in your games?
26 posts and 4 images submitted.

Fantastical ones.

Explodium: a super-dense energy-rich metal that can explode over and over again; usually stored in levitation fields.

Immovium: This highly magical ore can only be moved with strong teleportation or space-bending magic, otherwise it remains in stasis at all times.

It is found only in four locations in the far north, south, east and west, and these deposits are hypothesized to be the "nails" that hold the world in place.

Because in AD&D they included Gnomes as a weird hybrid of Elf and Dwarf and expected everyone to play them as illusionsits. Instead nobody played them as anything and they only scrap of use they got was in the Dragonlance setting. In the setting which gave us legitimately mentally retarded Dwarves and Socipathic klepomaniac Haflings they also gave us "hilarious" Gnomes that made high technology that didnt work.See it was funny because anything they built feel apart just like you were supposed to find Kender to be adorable comic relief and not use them for chum

The thing is a serious version of that was picked up by other forms of media and helped give Gnomes some sort of reason to exist besides being small El-Dwarves so i guess its a win

Hey anons, how are Daemon Princes treated in the Word Bearers legion/offshoot warbands of theirs?

It would probably involve courting the favour of one particular Chaos God over the others, which might be construed as breaking from the true path of Lorgar's Word by purists.

Other than that, I suspect they might revere him as a sort of saint.
>>
>>51160408
At first glance, basically a step up from possessed marines. They are people who have been obviously and unquestionably blessed by the chaos gods.

However, there is also there is going to be a fair bit of jealousy concealed behind whatever respect or deference a standard legionnaire is required to show them. These are guys who basically got everything that your average chaos worshiper aspires to. Immortality, immense martial and sorcerous power, a position of authority among the ridiculously cutthroat traitor legions, the works. The traitor legions are all about coveting you neighbor's stuff, and a daemon prince has a lot of cool stuff to covet.

On the surface, a daemon prince will be venerated as a power servant of the chaos gods, much like another powerful daemon. Under the surface, there will be a constant, simmering hatred and resentment as the other legionnaires all plot to prove themselves to be better than the daemon prince in the hopes of earning the favor of the chaos gods. After all, if you prove that you're better than someone who has already ascended, doesn't that mean you deserve ascension too?
