The perfect setting?

So, Trials in Tainted Space?
a thread died for your shitpost.

Did someone say Alpha Blue?
My friend wants to run a campaign but wants to set it in coliseum/gladiatorial arena. He also doesn't want to use D&D because he wants a very minimal amount of magic involved. Are there any systems which might fit this kind of setting.
>>51151357
Dark Heresy ruleset has very nitty-gritty combat, just limit everyone to non-Psykers.
>>51151591
I think the fact that most of the people playing won't know much about 40k will hurt interest. I know this from experience of trying to introduce DH to my own group.
Song of Swords/Riddle of Steel is meant to have the best low fantasy combat system in roleplaying games, although it's a bit crunchy.

Are most games like this? Am I just autistic? I'm not against some sillyness but I was kind of looking for something a bit more in depth. How serious are your guys' games?
Stop playing with children?

I feel your pain, anon. Even down to the "Harambe" bit.

>Can I use bestow curse for positive effects of the same degree?
The spell already allows me to make up whatever effect I want and the only rule is that it has to be of a similar power to the examples listed.
Would you gms allow this?
>>51146962
Fuck yeah. It's creative, rules legal, and balanced.
>>51146962
No. Stop trying to game the system.
>>51146962
No, since it isn't a curse in any way. Curses are meant to be debilitating and negative in function. "Positive curse" is an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp.
Good thinking though. I'd encourage you to create a short-lived custom buff spell that can apply positive variations of bestow curses effects for short durations. It'd be a unique and effective buff spell.
They're so cool

I'm not playing Pathfinder.

Because they're not cool to anyone over the age of 12.

Because I'm playing an android lycanthrope.

is there any sequence of orders that I can have my TOHD model pretend to be a mine that;s placed by the second model outside of deploying someone with minelayer and going down to vanilla camo?

Which deck is better Imperial Painter or Maverick? I want another Legacy deck to slowly build towards and these are the two im interested in but which is more competitive?
How do Chaos Space Marines keep their numbers up?
It's a question that's probably been asked before, but it's particularly pertinent to the CSMs. Like, they generally have less resources than actual Chapters, and they don't have vast reserves of geneseed the way the Imperium does. More, they're significantly more scattered than the regimented order of loyalist Chapters...So if a warband takes losses, it can't actually replace them within any reasonable time. I don't see 'new recruits' getting the chance to go from Scout to Battle-Brother, either, since the turnover rate is incredibly high.
I'm aware of things like the daemoncubala, but it doesn't change some of the inherent difficulties like locating the vast number of adolescent males (most of whom will die) to transform into Astartes. Raiding gene-seed vaults of loyalist chapters seems to pose all kinds of questions of it's own - For instance, a lot of Legions have unique gimmicks. If everyone in the warband is a Night Lord, and one guy is using Blood Angels geneseed...You'd assume there would be a LOT of problems if the odd-man-out is prone to blood-drinking and receiving vision of ol' Sangy, upset at how his son is going astray.
Generally, the usual depiction of most Chaos Space Marines are desperate warbands of irregular order and condition, most of whom don't even have an Apothecary. Doesn't that make their eventual extinction inevitable, though sheer attrition? Even if a single CSM is worth about five regular Marines (And they don't appear to be, as far as I can tell) eventually they'd get picked off one-by-one. And given the trouble with replacing their numbers, it seems that the loyalists have the advantage in any straight-up fight.
Realistically they probably would struggle to keep numbers.
A lot of it is probably explained away by warp magic, allowing higher success rates
Time Dilation in the warp, allowing generations to recruit from in the blink of an eye
Chaos straight up ressurecting marines.
Maybe more, I'm not a spess marine guy
>>51158788
I hear a lot of CSM just get reincarnated in the Eye of Terror.
I also hear "lol the warp" as another solution.
>>51158860
Yeah, but it seems to pose a lot of problems. Never mind what weird and aberrant geneseed you'll get after all that corruption (That's another question - Can Chaos-tainted Marines even be harvested? I mean, their gene-seed probably has eyes and tumors) there's just all kinds of issues.
For instance, all of the Word-Bearers are genetically disposed towards believing anything Lorgar says. If you used loyalist geneseed, there'll be at least one guy in a sermon thinking "I can't see what the fuss is all about." while everyone else is going "HAIL LORGAR, SON OF THE FOUR!" "HIS WORD DROWNS OUT ALL OTHERS!" and "FOR CHAOS!"

I was recently cleaning my bookmarks when I found a google doc of some anon who had translated some of a Brazilian free rules light system called 3D&T. It seems the guy actually kept at it and finished most of the crunch.
Does it interest anyone? Did anyone try to play it? How is it? Apparently it's really anime inspired too.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JroB5R-G1h5ME2tnzlvPI0oDmCsOzmq7BwMtHFyfMLE/mobilebasic?pli=1
Link for those who want to check out the translation. The Portuguese PDF is available for free in the store but its kind of a pain to download it seems.
>>51157349
So the game doesn't specify what the 'standard' die is and just lists certain things as [n]d.
I assumed it was d6, but I caught that there are some other things that specify 'd6'; what's the 'standard' die, then? Is it d6 and the other stuff is just inconsistencies, or translation artifacts or something?

It is d6 based, yeah.
>>51157800
Its was d6, the translating is missing some parts
How would you Magical Realm in a cthulhu setting ? (Without doing the obvious tentacle fetish)
Fuck off with your unfunny ERP bullshit.

Not a cthulu setting but NotCthulu in the setting, we had a poor player suffer it. You can't not do tentacles though, or at least tendrils.

Okay guys I'm gonna be roleplaying for the first time tomorrow, does anyone have any tips or something? I've never done it before.
The game is apparently a Star Wars rpg and we're going to play people in the Rebel Alliance set just before the events of Rogue One. I'm playing a Mal from Firefly/Rick from Casablanca mercenary type
The first thing to do is go on a long dialogue about midichlorians

There's a wise old saying "When in Rome, do as romans do". Try to mimic other players, who I assume are going to be more experienced than you.
Also, have fun and don't forget to come back here and write about your experiences.
>>51156221
Stay true to your character.
How do you do level 1 (or power level equivalent thereof) games? Where do you like to start characters off? What challenges do you give them?
Do you immediately start them off with an overarching campaign hook or do you give them a few sessions of one-offs to set the mood and expectations?
>>51155556
War is always a good start. Have them engage in a few small battles, they get noticed, promoted to specialists, voila, you now have them serving someone and can have them go from there.
>>51155599
War, huh?
Yeah. ...What is it good for?
>>51155556
Desperate hobo. If you're opportunistic enough you might advance to a regular hobo, or possibly even a murder hobo.
