I've been in a longrunning and high power dnd 3.5 Faerun campaign for a long time now. However, my character is getting a bit stale. Most of what she can do is done better by others and I'm looking to go for deeper roleplaying with a new one.

So, basically, I'd like some help brainstorming a new character for the campaign and maybe I can help others in return.

For character creation details...

>Gestalt
>Free +1 LA for use with fancy races or templates.
>All published content is fair game, including Dragon Magazine.
>Homebrew is allowed on a case by case basis.

The party already has a Psionic, a Sorcerer/Crusader that specializes in AoO's and tripping, a dual wielding Initiator of some kind/Bard, and a Warblade/Master of Styles specializing in tanking and hitting hard.

The party could use someone sneaky/skilled, but beyond that pretty much all the bases are covered.

Well, you've got the benefit of Liches with some of their older Salient abilities from Van Richten's Huide to Liches converted, constant threat from the cult of the dragon, underdark, Thay and Zhents to worry about most of the time.

Just be aware that a Lich merged with an Elder Brain is the most powerful person in that setting I think.

Third party content would be limited, but something like a modern adaption of the 2e Wild magic tables, the stuff on Thaumaturgy in d20, and that one prestige class for Warlocks that's oriented around necromancy might be fair game.

Evil characters are allowed, but they'd have to be willing to abstain from open villainy and cooperate with the saving the world actions of the party.

Necromancy could be fun to try. I've mostly stuck with the brighter side of magic in all I've done.

Rework of the 2e jester and the 3.5 PrC which relates to the Forgotten Realms Jester's who at level 20 could draw what the fuck they want from a deck of many things to fuck some shit up, and cast Power Word kill as a joke so no one would notice, and earn performance money from fucking deities.

Alienist (use an online rework that uses that bloodborne like insight system)
And fuck up every and all forms of summoning spells with your trippy connection to the far realm

Dread Necro 10, Pale Master 10, one of the Dark Magi Necromancy base classes (Fleshcrafter, SoulStealker or Death walker) or the one that lets you stich flesh onto yourself PrC and True Necromancer a shit.

tl;dr: I want advice on building a mana acceleration deck, specifically, the best ways to produce a lot of land/mana

I have a few fun solid decks that I enjoy playing, but I am wanting to make a new deck and I had some questions regarding its construction.

I want it to be designed for group play and I was thinking of attempting to make a 5-color deck. This goes against my traditional deck building method, as usually I come up with strategy I want to do first, and then build it with whatever is necessary to make that happen.

I want this deck to be versatile and fun for a big group, with lots of micro-strategies, rather than a single focused deck (like my other decks). I was considering going for a mana acceleration as the main focus, and that's the part that I'm having trouble figuring out.

I have done mana acceleration in the past. I use glimmer lands with quicksilver amulets in my Eldrazi deck, but this is a bit different, since I'm trying for a multi-color deck. I knew about how to make the Eldrazi deck to work, but I want advice on building a new mana acceleration deck. What cards should I look for, what is a good method of going about this? We also play casually, so we are not stuck in any one block. If it's not possible to do mana acceleration for a 5-color, then I will stick to green (as it's one of my favorite colors).

Typically I play with big creatures. Currently, I haven't decided on a win condition yet. I'm building this in sort of the opposite way I usually do. Typically, I come up with a win condition first, and then figure out a way to make that happen. This time, I'm trying something different. A part of me wants to go through my collection of cards and find a lot of small win conditions with a lot of weird ways to win, which is why I'm saving that for after I figure out how I'm doing my mana. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I'm not really trying to build a focused super powerful deck right now. Basically, my friends are sick of fighting my other decks and I'm trying to come up with something different and I don't know what direction I'm heading yet.

I want to purpose something, an idea for a "modern fantasy"

Magic exists in this world and the countries of this world have developed technology side by side, however, ever country can only use one type of magic (ex: USA has pyromancy and has developed the nuke,napalm, and several other things using it)

I think this is idea has merit and i want to see what /tg/ does with it

Hey /tg/ my modern-setting party are about to break into an ancient magical forge. It was used to make magic weapons during a long-forgotten war and is very heavily fortified.

What sort of traps should I put in it? Bonus points if they've been made more deadly thanks to time and decay.

Iron heroes has a lot of good ideas for a low fantasy version of D&D, but the execution is subpar. Class imbalance, excessive bookkeeping, some things that just don't work right... It's a shame.

As much as I love Tome of Battle/Path of War for making Martial characters actually fun to play in 3.PF, I would be interested to see someone try to take the principles in Iron Heroes, of more mundane yet still interesting and powerful martial characters, and make it work.

5e Martials are powerful, but they aren't interesting. The closest they get is more inspired by PoW/ToB anyway.

So I'm doing a system with grid based fighting and I want to think up the kind of attacks that might be used. I know war games have stuff similar to this with their plastic attack cones and stuff, but I don't know if this stuff specifically has a name. I'm not looking for any kind of balance considerations either, just ideas on the kind of attacks and how they look. I'll give some examples.

Here's a thrust, such as a forward rapier stab. Black is attacker, red is the area hit.

As the party bard I come with a blue tooth and play some instrumentals every now and then. It's either so soft that you can only hear it when no one else is speaking or I take song requests during breaks
