I honestly hate the entire concept. It's always a convenience to facilitate a number of things, those being..
1. All enemies are not individuals, and thus need/have no development, personality, or motivation of their own, you don't even have to think if they had a life of their own after killing them because they're all just drones.
2. You can take out the king/queen/whatever dominant creature and all the others die out/lose all intelligence/coordination and are instantly no longer a real threat
Only interesting hive race i've encountered would be either the Geth from mass effect or the ones from Enders Game.
Shit like the zerg make my blood boil, they are literally only there to add a sense of danger in a lazy way
>Oh yeah we all wanna kill everything and / or eat/assimilate it
Gets me so damn invested
I'll start with the the most obvious pick first, dibz
Kairos Fateweaver.
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of him being fucked in the ass as one head consents and the other doesn't, or replies to the giver if he's enjoying it, so have this technically not-lewd image of a Lord of Change without the loincloth used for anatomical purposes only.

So I just done goofed and after an awkward wish got my male character turned into a woman.
I don't mind playing a girl for a session, maybe two, but I'm really not comfortable playing a woman.
Am I buzzkill if I just ask the DM to kill my character in an IC approved way within a session or two?

Roleplay the character's decent into depression and eventual suicide
I'd roll with it initially but on the condition that it does not become sexual, weird, gay, that guy-ish. I'd give one chance to let them know the boundary then politely leave after.
Do you guys make descriptions for the rooms of your dungeons and areas, BBEG speeches and so forth, to read out loud for your players, or do you just keep a few notes and do them on the fly?
I do everything like him because he is the best.
>>51207029
You go it right.
Also steal from published materials and the novels and other media that you read and like a lot.
The more media you consume, the bigger the pool of fiction you can pull from to make your own.
>>51207029
A bit of both depends on the game and who I'm playing with.
So I've heard people compare the Duelist kingdom saga's way of card games to basicly being a table top rpg, thats played with cards instead of a character sheet. So I was wondering, are there any trpgs out there that could be used to emulate how the duels worked in the early yugioh series? And if Kazuki takahashi took inspiration from table top games, does anyone know which ones those were? Loved all the crazy stuff they pulled off in the earlier series that they just don't do anymore in the modern anime series.
>>51206974
You would need a system that had solid summoning mechanics. I've personally used Anima to good effect, but I'm sure that can't be the only system with good summoning mechanics.
For Kaz's tabletops, he was inspired primarily by D&D. I think Bakura even plays a knockoff of D&D for an arc of the original manga. In general, most of the manga's games are real games (Clock Solitare) or games that are crude and made up on the spot (the infamous Finger game; the Rope game in the first episode). Duel Monsters was a weird exception where he wanted an arc about MtG but WotC told him to fuck off, so he made his own card game.
Millennium Blades is going to be what you're looking for pretty soon OP. At the moment it's just a really unusual board game, representing not the actual playing of TCG's but the whole experience of participating in one, with deck building, buying and selling on the aftermarket and building relationships with other players being just as important as the actual tournament phases.
However, they're soon going to release a full set of roleplaying rules for the game, including whacky shit like letting you include a card from any other game in your deck. Could be the ace of spades, could be your favourite MtG or YGO card, whatever. You and your GM come up with rules for what it does.
It looks to be very silly but very funny, and I really hope they make the roleplaying rules as fun as the base game.
>>51207906
OP wanted a system that could emulate how Duelist Kingdom's duels operated, not the mechanics of actually playing a card game.
Please read before you shill.

What are some reasons one would want to mass produce basilisks? What possible gain or profit is there in doing so? What would be the best method of producing them quickly and cheaply?
>>51206239
Well, it honestly sounds like something a lich would do right after stealing every third lamp post in the nearby kingdom.
Highly concentrated basilisk venom is one of the things you need to create the legendary Vorpal Grindstone.

Stop playing dumb barbarians
>>51206080
Even Barbarians like nice soft lavatory paper.
>>51206080
Honestly, Conan barely fits the modern D&D barbarian in terms of actions. He has the outward appearance, but he's got a serious cunning and philosophical outlook going on.
>>51206281
Wasn't he also a very calculating fighter, rather than being swept up in a berserker rage?
Love Howard's narrative voice but only ever read the first short story, where he's already king and he kills some shadow demon mummy thing a Sorceror from the pre-Egyptian culture summoned, and I remember his approach to battle being very cerebral.

MY PLAYERS ARE SIDING WITH THE FUCKING DICTATOR ASSHAT BBEG BECAUSE HE SPOUTS DUMB PATRIOTIC RHETORIC HOW THE FUCK DO I MAKE THEM STOP?
They fucking sold out the cute rebel girl who was their contact. I don't know what to do.
make the BBEG betray them or something lmao
>>51205668
Make it obvious that this asshole is Evil, maybe even Saturday morning cartoon levels of Evil, and that the only reason he's in the position he is in is because he's charismatic as fuck.
You can also throw out an option of a rescue mission for the rebel girl, try to have them play it off of getting into the Dictator's inner circle to make it easier to kill him?
Then again, I don't know how smart your characters are.
>>51205668
Just demonstrate that he's a hypocritical asshole. Show that he can't or won't deliver what he promises and is only interested in advancing his own power.
I dunno, have him kill a bunch of people in horrible ways for no reason. Like he's just paranoid about them when they're obviously loyal or whatever.
This shit is easy.

Has there been any good new fluff for 40k ever since the release of Chaos 4th edition and the "Let no good deed go unpunished" retardation, or has it all been downhill and rehashes from there? From Tau fluff abandoning everything that made them interesting in favor of more giant mechs, to completely BTFO'ing Orks through the Beast, continuing to shit on the Tyranids, or even the whole Cadia stupidity now. At best shit like the Necron Retcons come to mind, that are debatable at best, but it seems like every single idea they had was okay in concept, but plain shit in execution.
So, aside from that, has there actually been anything new and worthwile?
There was some good fluff for the rpgs.
Some BL books like Umbra Sumnus are ok.
I haven't read the most recent WD, so I don't know if the reboot found it's pace.
>>51206009
So which ones ARE the BL books that are good?
>>51208186
Modern BL or past BL books? Mostly modern is riding that horus heresy cock
Heres some off the top of my head aka the books I like I havent read a new BL book in a while
Ciaphas Cain
Gaunts Ghosts
Last Chancers
These 3 are really just mandatory by now in my personal opinion even if you dont like them since the writing in both can get bland and samey they are still fun reads.
Yarrick-This one is quite interesting not only is it "new" but it delves into Yarrick as a character and truly shows how much of a monster he is.
Ultramarines Omnibus- Hold off on the ward memes here this series is actually quite good with a based MC being a Captain from the Ultramarines
Death Watch: Xeno Hunters-Book about Death Watch most of the stories are made for the book and others are from WDs short stories if I recall. Alot of good stories in this one ranging from Tyranid Kroot,Space marine actually using the acid spit, and there is a story of a Death Watch kill team comprised of the Cursed Founding chapters really an awesome read in my opinion.
Priests of Mars-Delves into the mechcanicus and all of that jazz I havent read it in a while but I liked it
Path of The Eldar-Now im not the biggest eldar fan but even with that it was an interesting read.
WD had alot of great fucking short stories as well like this one series about a Storm Trooper team.
I havent touched the Horus Heresy since that perpetual MLK Jr. debacle
