OH SNAP HE'S BACK
If any of you remember that story I did about you and a certain plastic bowl, Good on you. I'm doing part two now. Woo.

Where we left off, We'd just gotten a new ID and had killed two people - Our captor and a pizza delivery boy.

Hm.. Come to think of it, You can't seem to remember much, actually.

Can you explain more for new players? Are we the bowl, and where are we?
>>
>>388576
No, you're a man whose gone kinda loopy and thinks the bowl is a sentient being. You were kidnapped at the start, broke free, killed your captor, lobbed his head at some cops, got a new ID, and went back to your captor's house.
>>
>>388588
Well the cops are probably after us now, so let's search the captor's house for any weapons.

INTRODUCTION - You are Isaac, a college student who has been inexplicably transplanted in the Song of Ice and Fire universe: Game of Thrones, around the time of the start of the novels. In the first few weeks, we got in good with the Tyrell house guards, whose ranks we quickly joined as a cover to be near the nobles for when we wish to use our knowledge of the Game of Thrones universe. Currently, we sit in Storm's End, Capital of the Stormlands, and home of Renly Baratheon, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, as Margery and Renly court eachother for a secret marriage alliance between the Tyrell's and Renly's Baratheons.

> If you don't know the lore that well, this game takes a preconceived idea that the MC has perfect knowledge and memory of events in the books, ergo feel free to read articles on the Wiki about the subjects mentioned if you feel lost.

Personally I would recommend two links: the first is a run down of the Tournament of the Hand, the tourney we will soon be observing in the coming weeks, and a detailed understanding of the Cuty it is held in- King's Landing.

Storm's End, as you quickly came to realize, was a sprawling place. Not only did you usualy flurry of Ladies and Lords traveling its grounds, but many people from ever walk of life seemed to be working at the docks outside the wall. The place gives you a foreboding feeling of the times to come, you place your hand on a weathered stone gargoyle of sorts and look to the skyline. There, the sun shined brightly on your face, warming you ever so slightly as you took your sparring stance, trading numerous blows with fellow guards for morning training. This, of course, made way for an exhausted studying of your alchemical book. The heavy hide-bound tome had just started getting in to the meatier part behind the creation of one of the first poisons it teaches, a simple concotion of wild berries that induces severe vomitting and nausea with anyone inflicted, a technique it says is suprisingly effective in battle.

---
Your shift starts soon, and hurridly you and you bunkmates are frantically preparing as per usual. Thw shift itself? Eh. Spent some time following Margery's carriage around as she did her schtick with the poor, no assassination attempts this time, and the location you were headed to unknown.

Eventually your procession makes it to the cliffside, Margery and Renly began making nice, having quiet conversations in the distance with arms interlocked like the husband and wife they would tragically never get to be. That was the burden of knowing the possible future, you mused, everyone you know you've known better than sometimes they know themselves. Margery, Ned Stark, Mace Tyrell, all of them seem less like Nobles, and more like cogs in a powerful, powerful machine that if ever changed, could lead to some catastrophically different.

The royal couple came closer in to earshot, and you tried your damndest to eavesdrop. Margery's sing-songy voice was muffled by the distance, but it only took one word to realize the subject "Alliance" was often brought up, and the gears in your head start turning.

The books had never said much about Margery and Renly before their introductions, but frim what you knew the marriage to Renly happened well after Ned Stark was killed. The Tyrells and Baratheons (under Renly, of course) seemed to have something sketchy going on, and try as you might it was hard to see this planning as anything but a coup to put the Tyrell's candidate in power.

---
> Do we try to do or find anything here after our shift but before we leave to King's Landing, maybe a possible visit to Elinor Tyrell or other friends?
>>
>>390054
Perhaps we visit Elinor and see if we can get her to talk about Margery

"Oh, no. I'm just her best friend really." You smile at him. "Everybody keeps thinking I'm her boyfriend though..."
Hearing you say those words puts a relieved smile on his face. "Thank goodness..."

You didn't know what it was, but seeing him smile like that irked you a bit. So much so that you just had to threaten him. "But still, if you touch her, I'm supplexing you out of the window. Don't you dare touch my best friend... You got that?" You give him your best gangster impression.

He just puts up his hands and waves them in front of you. "Ah, don't worry about that. I won't touch her." He extends his right hand and introduces himself. "By the way, my name is Makoto."

Shaking his hand, you greet him back. "Makoto huh? You can call me Ryu."

"Nice to meet you Ryu." He gives you a smile that made you a bit jealous. Such a handsome face would certainly make any girl fall for him.

"Nice to meet you too... Anyway, what are you doing here? I'm guessing you are friends with Aya?"

He starts to blush. "I just met Tachibana yesterday. I wouldn't call myself her friend yet." He was quite reserved and shy. He then looks over to your sleeping childhood friend again. "I would love to be her friend though... Well... I would love to be something more actually." Then his eyes light up as if he just got a great idea. "Hey... Ryu, is it okay if I ask you for a favour?"

"Favour?" You tilt your head like a confused puppy.

"Hmm... You said you were her best friend right? Is it okay... Is it okay if you help me get together with Tachibana?" His request was quite blunt and straightforward. So much so that it catches you off-guard. You also felt a pang as he asks you to help him make Aya his girlfriend.

This time you can get her, if you just push... a little... harde- oh. You've made a terrible mistake.

Noticing your over-commitment to pushing her back, Rhea changes her grip and lifts you up over her head.

"I resent this treatment" You say.

Rhea laughs. "Then you shouldn't have put every last bit into that"
"I can't help it. You only move when I throw everything at you" You say.
"Then you must train to be stronger!" Rhea says.
"Isn't training me your job?" You ask.

Rhea straightens up. "I absolutely forgot about that" She says, apparently forgetting that she's holding you up, as she drops you like a sack of bricks.

Derrick and the other knights wince as you hit the ground.

"How did you forget the whole reason why we're here?" Pip asks.
"Well, I was testing him with the first one... but then I got caught up in the challenge" Rhea says. "But if he wants to build up his muscle, then out here's not the place to do that..."

Rhea walks briskly out of the courtyard, seemingly oblivious to what she was just doing...
As she leaves, Derrick comes over and crouches beside you.

"You okay?" He asks.
"I've felt better... but I've also felt worse. So..." You finish with a shrug.
Derrick chuckles. "Need a hand?"

Welcome to Dungeon Officer Quest! This will be a brief one-shot that I’m going to do before I head off on vacation. For those unfamiliar with me, I am QM Kaz, the guy who runs ‘Devil Summoner: Task Force 666’ and ‘Bladebound Retainer’. For those familiar with me, welcome back. It’s good to have you here before I depart for distant shores.

So, here’s how this quest is going to work: it’s mainly narrative driven, relying on choices more than anything else, and with either minimal to no dice rolls whatsoever. But if the occasion calls for it, then and only then will I allow you to roll. Don’t expect it to happen a lot, though.

Premise of the quest? An original setting, drawing from multiple sources of inspiration. ‘Etrian Odyssey’ mixed with a little bit of ‘DanMachi’, and a few ‘hidden’ sources that I won’t reveal due to spoilers. A bit brief, I know, but I'm short on time.

Now, without further ado, let us begin…

====
Introitus

No one knows exactly how or when the Dungeon came into existence, but everyone can agree that it was no natural phenomenon. Records found within musty libraries and forgotten archives will testify to a life before that blight upon the world, almost a thousand years ago. That was a different age, a distant time remembered by none. Not necessarily a better one, yet a different time nonetheless.

It was on the day of the Eclipse, when the Pale Moon covered the Sun. For an entire day, the Celestial Body of Koyash was obscured, and total darkness fell upon the earth. A sign of the end times, the prophets and madmen called it, the beginning of the end of the world. They were not heeded. Townsfolk went on about their daily rituals without too much cause for concern, making sure to keep their eyes away from the eclipse.

But when the darkness lifted, the prophets had been proven right. This was the end of the world they knew, and the beginning of something new and dreadful.

From seemingly out of nowhere, creatures never seen before on the face of the earth laid siege to humanity. Unprepared and unforeseen, thousands upon thousands died within the first day, and thousands more in the weeks to come. Armies were raised and enmities between kingdoms forgotten as the kingdoms of the continent united as one and marched against the unrelenting horde.

It took thirty long years of pain, suffering and bloodshed, but humanity eventually won…at a price. Some parts of the land remain uninhabitable, scorched ruins of earth incapable of sustaining life. There are still parts of the world where monsters roam freely, and the price to drive the hordes back from whence they came was paid in the blood of millions of humans.

But it was all worth it. No longer was humanity in danger of extinction, and after fifty years of construction and cooperation, a great wall and city surrounds the spawning pit of these monsters.

The City of Eteria.jpg

Five hundred years later, and the world has moved on, rebuilt what was lost. While monsters still roam the earth, sea and sky, the grand majority of them held back at bay by the walls of Eteria, the great city-state built around the Dungeon’s entrance. Adventurers flock to the city, romantics seeking fame and glory, criminals shipped from kingdoms to die in the depths of the dungeon, and treasure hunters who covet gold above all other things.

Those who wish to dive into the depths of the dungeon must first register in the Explorer’s Guild, a powerful organization sanctioned by the governments of multiple foreign bodies. Aside from keeping the monsters at bay, they are charged with keeping the Adventurers in check, to keep their focus on the monsters within. Warriors, wizards, vagabonds and rogues, all with reasons of their own are drawn to Etria, but they must play by the rules set by the Guild.

Only through registering in the Explorer’s Guild, earning your Adventurer’s permit and joining a Guild of your own is one allowed to partake in the descent into the dungeons. More than one disheartened applicant has been sent home, unable to pass the rigorous muster of the Guild’s requirements. But is it so bad to be turned away for one’s own good, when the creatures that lie bellow are capable of feats beyond mortal possibility?

Still, with every mortal to perish at the hands of a monster, there are tens of dozens who come to take their place. There is no end to those that wish to find their dreams within the Dungeon, and no shortage of fresh bodies to slake the thirsting monsters and floors with their life’s blood…

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” – H.P. Lovecraft

=======

>Summer 23, Year 578
>Unexplored Cavern, The Dungeon

There is no escape.

It is not only the walls that the darkness scrabbles against, clinging to the deep tunnels like putrid oil. It scratches at your mind, phantom talons digging into your skull to rake across your psyche and sanity. Even after uncountable steps of flight from that deep cavern within the earth, the Sight of what lay within still threatens to sunder your mind.

Andor was not the first to fall to the whispers of the shadows, but it is his loss that strikes your souls a heavy blow. He was a pillar of Guild Amaranthine, a bright and shining beacon of hope and security. A man of the gods, it was his faith that gilded him through the Dungeon more securely than any armor, harder than steel or mithril and brighter than any flame, both mundane and magical.

And his faith shattered so easily like a rock through a glass window.

He is catatonic now, barely responsive as Ieyador drags his limp body through the twisting tunnels. His eyes, once a soft blue the color of the distant sky, are now wide and red, vessels burst and bloodshot. Icherous tears fall from his cheeks as he repeats the same phrase, over and over and over again like a broken and discordant music box.

…forsaken…” Andor whispers in a voice hoarse from hours of screaming, “…forsaken…forsaken…forsaken…

The Explorer’s Guild, in their zealotry, delved too greedily, delved too deep in their quest to find the origins of the Dungeon, and the monsters that spawned within. And when a chance earthquake revealed a secret tunnel leading deeper within the tainted bedrock, they were so quick to move and discover what lay beyond.

And it yours and your companions’ blood that is the price for their folly. Or was it your own fault, for having accepted the contract in the first place, in what was almost a lifetime ago?

No, it did not matter. Regardless of who the fault belongs to, nothing is going to change the fact that you are going to die.

Out of ten, only four remain, barely clinging to their lives and sanity. Already lost to the tattered remnants of his mind, Andor did not count. There is Ieyador the Bulwark, partner of your fearless leader, tasked with shepherding the survivors of your Guild. Kira, master of the silent blade, who said that Andor would only hinder your flight from the depths. Antoine Montfort, the upstart rookie, and owner of the greatsword Stormguard.

And you, Varian Engel, one of the last founding members of Guild Amaranthine, and wielder of…

The airstrip is probably the busiest place on the entire base. Freikorpsmen and Allied soldiers toss equipment and supplies onto massive transport planes. You even spy a handful of medium walkers striding onto the cargo bays of heavy duty aircraft. Heavy combat walkers accompany their smaller brothers, these are so large that they occupy an entire transport by themselves. Such a display of military might would have inspired confidence in you. But you’re getting deployed into North Africa, a place the Allies have a very tenuous grasp on. You wager the only reason that Rommel and his Afrika Korps haven’t completely routed the Allies from the region was because of recent developments.

You’re startled by a sudden clap on your shoulder, you spin around quickly to face a smiling Josie, already dressed for the hot desert weather of the region. She’s accompanied by Diane, who’s dressed in a short white dress, one that looks like it probably costs more than all of your clothing combined.

“Worried? Don’t be, we’re not goin’ with those big lugs. Command wants us in a prototype stealth plane. Something about radar absorbent materials or something, very hard to spot, unless you’re looking up.”

“That doesn’t make me feel any better y’know.”

Josie shrugs, and wags her finger in your face playfully.

“Well, ya can’t say I didn’t try. Not my fault you’re being a worrywart. Besides, I’d say we’re safer in that than in one of these eyesores.”

Josie drags you with her, away from the main airstrip of Camp Eisenhower. The sounds of propellers beating fill your ears, even when you’re almost a hundred meters away from their sources. A sleek, grey plane that looks like it sprung from the pages of a science fiction novel stands on smaller runway. It almost looks like a B-17, with its bomb bay replaced with a passenger’s compartment. A small group of three Freikorpsmen are getting on the plane. One of them looks rather old, too old to still be fighting at least. His hair is almost completely greyed, his face is pretty wrinkled too. A strange visor covers his eyes, and you wonder how he can see out of that thing. Like all of the other Freikorpsmen, he wears a greatcoat with the FK emblem on it.

Last time on Dungeon World Quest:

Jon Bronzesmith, fighter-dwarf from Dodokidath traveled from Avuzdural -- one of the last remaining dwarven strongholds -- to Shezpacaslu -- the city of Saffron, one of the largest human settlements in the world.

He helped a family of travelers on the road and chased away some bandits. Later he obtained a job to get rid of those same bandits from the resident militia captain of Shezpacaslu, Captain Zomuth.

After hiring some help, he set off to destroy the bandits. The ensuing melee was bloody, the bandit leader was injured, but most of the goblins escaped unharmed.

After interrogating one of the surviving goblin bandits, Jon found out that the goblins were hiding out in a cave on instructions from a "Captain", however before he could press for more information he heard screams coming from one of his comrades, Xetan.

What does he(you) do?

You can do this, but it goes against your (good) alignment, which means you won't be eligible for exp for it at the end of this "session". Acting in accordance with your alignment, gives you exp, however, repeated actions against your alignment will change it.

Are you sure you want to do this?

Your name is Kelly.

You are but a simple mook of some mad scientist who was too cheap to hire actual guards, mostly because he had other scientists in the books, so he decided to whip up guards himself. Sadly he only had human and hyena DNA at his disposal, making you all very much the same- sort of. He affectionately calls you all "Gnolls". You have no idea where that name comes from but you assume it's a human thing.

Today is another simple day of patrolling the whole lab. Your role is to keep out anyone who really shouldn't be here and to mediate any problems between your 400 brothers and sisters.

Call out something for Kelly to do and roll 1d10. The highest number rolled decides the action. Note that troll posts WILL be ignored- even if its a 10.

NO RE-ROLLS.

In the last chapter, Zheng Li acquaints himself with Yuan Shao who hails from a line of prestigious family. Dissatisfied with the Han, he tempts Yuan Shao by advising him to seize power as the Han decays. Together with Liu Bei and Yuan Shao, they defeat the armies and magic of Zhang Bao. The leader Zhang Jue dies of illness and the Yellow Scarves are dissolved. Despite the efforts of Zheng Li and the Dawn Tigers, the court refuses to reward their service. With a decision to make himself a lord, Zheng Li ventures out in the world.

This quest is an RPG-styled game following the Three Kingdoms period of China and the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guangzhong. You play as a fictional character following through the events of the Three Kingdoms and hopefully rising to become an important player of with the famous figures. You will start off as a no-name, average character who can rise up through effort. Most of the characters and story will follow the events of the novel first, history second, the RoTK games third, and only a very small part will come from the Dynasty Warriors games (Mostly character personalities if suitable).

The goal of the game is to create an interesting story more so than win. While this game will not be harsh, mistakes and carelessness may result in the loss of your faction and even the death of your character. Sometimes circumstances may be unfair as not even Zhuge Liang could not save his kingdom after Shu lost Jing province. Still, thinking and common sense should get you through. Whatever the case, my goal is to hopefully see you create an interesting story more than conquering the entirety of China.

Ambition stirs within your heart as you leave the capital city of Luoyang. The power of the Han is waning; as lords from all across the land are promoted and more rebellions rise in northernwest Liang and the south, you hold plenty of opportunity to obtain power. You have made friends with Han Fu, Yuan Shao, and Tao Qian who might be suitable allies.

As your party heads towards the Central Plains, you encounter a large migrant of people along the way. They are but poor farmers and peasants from their attire and number several thousand. When they see you a great fright comes upon them and they go on their knees. It seems they have mistaken you for bandits.

“We are no bandits and we do not wish trouble with you,” Hao Xian explains to the people, much to their relief. “Tell us however; why do you move in such great numbers?”

“Our homes have been displaced by war,” an elderly man says. “Not only famine and plague, but bandits have attacked our lands. When we sought refuge at the capital city we were turned away and forced to leave. Now we look to settle ourselves in the lands of Chen. We hear there are open lands for us to settle.”

“Many bandits and Yellow Scarves still run about,” you inform them. “The roads are not safe.”

“We know, but what else can we do but risk the venture?” he says sadly. “You say you are the Dawn Tigers? Could we ask for your protection?”

Hao Xian comes next to you.

“Perhaps this is the opportunity we have been looking for. If we help these people we can gain their gratitude and with our men we can act as their protectorate. The commandery of Chen is small and undeveloped but this may be the exact catalyst to our beginning. The downside to this rather than trying to ingrain ourselves with our friends such as Yuan Shao is that we must rely on our power. But at the same time it would mean we owe no debts and would not have to bow to another force. What say you?”
