Welcome to Treasure Hunter Quest, a quest heavily influenced by games such as Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder with generous doses of combat, character building and...well, treasure hunting. Treasure Hunter Quest revolves around the adventures of a mage named Kane Gerrhu (a.k.a you). You have taken up the dangerous but profitable mantle of the treasure hunter, seeking riches in often dangerous, monster-ridden regions of the world. Your current adventure takes you into the depths of Gallows Rock, where, along with the warrior Scarlett and cleric Claude, you stumble upon some ancient Mithraean ruins brimming with treasure. However, the ruins are also home to orcs and goblins, among other things, who will defend their treasure to the death. You currently find yourself in the heat of battle, and while you were able to easily dispatch the spear-wielding goblins in the room, you still have goblin bowmen sniping you from elevated walkways and two angry orc warriors to contend with.

(repost of last turn)

Scarlett does another power cleave, hitting one orc and slamming her sword into the other orc for 6 damage to both. You cast another bolt of arc lightning, which hits the spear goblin, bow goblin and orc warrior nearest to Claude for 10 damage. This is enough to kill the spear goblin, who is electrocuted and fried on the spot. Claude raises his hands and casts smite on the nearest bow goblin, hitting it for 4 damage and bringing it near to death.

The bow goblins fire once more upon Scarlett, who takes two arrows for 5 damage. You receive an arrow in the arm as well, which does 2 damage to you. The orc warriors completely miss Scarlett as she weaves in between blows.

Scarlett's shield shimmers and fades away as Loka's blessing leaves her.

Your turn.

Scarlett spends the turn drinking an energy potion, which restores her energy reserves! You cast magic missiles at the heavily-wounded orc warrior, dealing 11 damage to it! Claude follows up with a blast of holy energy, which does 5 damage. That orc is looking pretty messed up now..

The bow goblins fire another volley, hitting Claude and Scarlett for 3 damage. The orcs attack Scarlett, and, without the Shield of Loka surrounding her, is hit by one of the orcs, who hits for 7 damage.

With that, it's your turn again. What will you do? (For newcomers: Make sure you include actions for Claude and yourself (Scarlett is acting on her own for now) and specify spells (i.e. Have Claude use Healing Wave on us and Kane cast Magic Missile at the orcs)

You go to your room and make a costume. After putting it on and looking in the mirror you are pleased to see it looks great, just as you had planned. A leather outfit showing all the cleavage you have to offer, not much you are displeased to see, but you hope all the stomach it shows makes up for it. Red gloves and boots make great accents to it, and a heart shaped eyepatch to finish it off. You go to show your big brother, but you get nervous. What if he doesn't like it? What will you do?

Year 122
Our civilization is steadily advancing into the iron age. After defeating the Earth Dragon Suhkamuk with our help, the halflings in the west have united in a Kingdom. A Storm Dragon led a horde of ogres across Ogre Pass and through our southwestern lands. After a series of clashes, our denizen demi-goddess Wave slayed the dragon and the ogres fled.
We've continued to advance and have established official relations with the Kingdom of Paitras in the east, the largest and most powerful human nation.

Young Knight and Witch.jpg

You are Geheimnis, witchborn, and sister of Walpurgis Abbey. You wake up in a comfortable bed, inside a castle. It takes you a moment before you realize what’s happened. Right. The capture by the coven, your rescue, how you came back to the young knight’s castle, and how exhaustion took over and you collapsed when they showed you a bed.

The earthy-wet smell of the swamp is still present here, but it’s just a background theme. Above it, are the scents of stone, cloth, and scrubbed floors. Typical castle aromas. You’re in your small clothes, and someone’s washed and laid out your habit, and has placed a wash basin on a table, along with a cloth and comb. You clean up and get dressed.

There’s a faint knocking on the door.

“Hello?” You say.

“May I enter, your Reverence?” A voice asks.

“Of course.” You say.

A maid enters, a pale-skin northerner. She curtsies. “Welcome to Boglach Castle, your Reverence.” She says. “My name is Tara, and I am to be at your service for your stay.”
“Thank you.” You say.

“Would your Reverence like to visit our castle’s chapel?” The maid asks. “It’s small, but very lovely. Also, Sister,” The Maid looks skyward for a moment, and sighs, but her genuine smile remains. “His Lordship, the Earl, cordially invites all visitors to Boglach Castle, to tour the family’s Historical Gallery, so that they may admire the great history of this great family.”

You stare at her.

She shrugs. “Lord Janus makes us say that to everyone. Also, if you’re hungry, the kitchen is open to you. The family’s already eaten, but the chef can make something without any problem.”

“Thank you. How is the Knight?” You ask.

“Master Orion is recuperating in his room. His wounds have been seen to, and apart from his hand…” The maid frowns for a moment. “He should make a full recovery. His Lordship is quite proud of his son. To slay a whole coven of Witc…ahem…Soul-Sold is quite a feat.”

“Any news about that?” You ask.

“Lady Lyra sent a telegram just after you and Master Orion arrived. The reply was that they’re sending someone from Crowrest.” You get a hint of distaste when the maid says the same of the large town.

Also this'll likely be my only post, I've got other stuff to do. Oh well. Don't fuck it up, anons!

You have been raised in the shadow of the Caliphate. You were taught how to hide all that you owned when the arabs came, and to pray to God that wherever you have found to hide serves it's purpose. You have lost friends and family to the great hordes of the caliphate, as slaves and as brave defenders.

You know that the path you walk down know the path you take likely leads to their fate, but no longer will you cower, no longer will you dig holes to hide your wealth from the swarming Arab raiders. You will not cower any longer, you will stand and you will fight.

Now, where in the lands of God's Regent do you make you stand, as a soldier of the Themes?

>You are a Soldier in Armenia, or at least on the borderlands. Your family is used to the mountains, and you are solid in your constitution. You are a proud man, and you have gone to serve in the Armeniacon theme, one of the two largest in the empire.

>You are a Soldier in Ciliccia, near to the great mountain passes known as the Ciliccian gates, the points from which the Arabs launch their yearly Incursions. Your family has been stalked by the raiders for centuries, and your people are some of the hardest pressed in the empire. You serve in the Anatholicon theme, the largest of the Themes, established by the sons of Herakleios.

>You serve in the naval theme of Cibyrrhaeoton, on the southern coast of Anatolia. It is your duty to protect the seas and shipping lanes, and to defend the islands of the Aegean.

>Write in (Any other theme that you'd like, please only suggest actual Byzantine themes that you know something about)

Your name is frog.
You currently stand upon the rich soil of a local farm.
But then again, how could you stand in a farm if it's not actually local to you?
This question confuses you, and you wish to do something that requires less thought.
"Ah! I know. I'll go onto 4chan.", you say, in a green voice, which only frogs can hear.
And so it is your quest to locate a computer or something similar, and post on the /qst/ board.

You zoom out somehow.
The isolated farm is amidst a dense forest, with only a single road going out. It is particularly cloudy out, with only four horizontal lines of sky being visible. You detect green crops, as well as cyan crops and a crop circle for some reason. Finally, the farm also contains a house, which might contain phat loots.

So without further ado. Let's continue on to everyone's favourite show! Fallout: Tales from New Atlanta. Only on Vault-Tec channel 49!

Last time, on Fallout: Tales from New Atlanta! Our hero(?), and former Trader, Mordecai Jones, and his new partner, Madilyn Crawford, returned tot he town of Cratersville in hopes of finding additional allies and better weapons in their coming fight against the deadly raider gang known as "The Gore Chuggers".

Little were they to know that this assistance would come in the form of a tall, mute, bone covered tribal, by the name of Nahzeic Adahy Nez Perce. A man who appears to have his own beef with the raider clan.

From there, our mismatched trio met the town slob and local mechanic/weapon designer; Tia Barboussa. Where Mordecai made a deal that in exchange for discount, he would be willing to hand deliver her custom made guns to her clients. And while the discount was considerable, it was nowhere near enough for him to afford anything!

With nothing left to do, and the cold wasteland night upon them, our trio of new friends made their way back to the Crater-Debater Saloon, for a well deserved rest.

"This is nice..." you think to yourself, as you lay upon the centuries old mattress and ubderneath the ragged mess that can just barely be considered bedsheets. "A comfortable bed. A functional desk fan blowing cool air towards me (even if I had to flip it around because the jackass who fixed it put the blades in the wrong way). And a slightly full stomach... This is perfection out here."

However... a moment later, you're forced to sit up and rub the gunk out of your eyes as you're stirred fully awake by the loud ringing coming from the functioning alarm clock seatted upon the end table next to your bed.

After rubbing your eyes free of debris, you glare angerly towards the mechanical Devil that DARES awaken YOU from your pleasant sleep. "You however, have ruined all of that!" You mumble under your breath before turning the vile Pre-War contraption off. With a loud yawn, you stand up and go to get ready to meet your new traveling companions down in the Bar.

You are the leader of a planet, either nominally or absolute. You might have been recently elected, or maybe you've inherited the throne many years ago.

None of it matters, for now.

First, you must select the solar system in which your planet is located.

That's right, you are the leader of a planet in the Nino system, a lone system on the edge of this FTL sector.

This is both positive and negative. Reaching your isolated and distant system will take quite some time, making stealthy assaults harder. There's also two directions less from which you can expect enemies.

Trade and contact with foreign systems and planets is a whole lot harder though.

You control only one of the five planets in your system though. Which one of these is it?

“Sorry, I missed your heart.”

Lucky pops a small canister out of the gun and replaces it with another, one that’s glowing white. The Frost Witch lies next to you face down.

Breathing slowly, you ask, “…Why?”

She replies without even looking at you, “I’m a bounty hunter on the side. It’s good money.” Grabbing the harpoon, she loads it back into the gun. “Thought you were good bait for the Kraken, but it turns out you were just good bait in general! Guess that’s why they call me Lucky.”

As she strolls over to you smiling, you shake your head. “I’m fine, I’m fine. You don’t have to do this.”

“I coated it with baneweed. Sorry to say it, but you’re a goner,” Lucky says as she hovers over you. “Thanks for the assist.”

“No really, I feel great-“

You hear a sudden release of air followed by a sickening thwack, and you black out.

As if you just had a great nap, you open your eyes feeling refreshed. You see a blue lit ceiling pacing by, and you feel your body being dragged over a cold, rocky floor. Turning your head, you squint to see the glowing creatures from before.

The air is pungent with decay and iron. On your chest, stitches hold your wound tightly closed.

One of the creatures notices that you’re awake, but turns its head back forward. It hums a little note, and the others hum in return. A small tune fills the cave.

Once again, another day at the office comes to a close. You stretch and you yawn. It's been quite busy for the last month because of a big project you were handling. However, tonight that comes to a close. "Ah... Finally I can go home at a reasonable time."

You were 27 years old. You were pretty high up in the company you work for. You were single and was paid quite highly. You were pretty much living the bachelor dream. "Ah, Shin-senpai, good work today." Some of your co-workers pass by your office.
"Good work today." You greet them back. Packing up your things you were preparing to go home when suddenly, someone comes knocking into your office.

"Yo! Boss!" Once again he had that huge smile on his face.

"Boss? What are you talking about Makoto? We have the same position and we were hired at the same time." He was your friend from back in college.

He just laughs it off. "Ah, don't mind that. Anyway, what are you up to tonight?" He asks you.

"Me? I'm hoping to get home early and to sleep early. Why?"

He just gives you a look of disdain. "Huh? What are you a grandpa? You are going out with me tonight. I know a really good bar where you can meet any girl you like!" Makoto still hasn't changed a bit. He was still a womanizer just like back in college. "You can meet a human, an elf, a demon, any. type. of. girl."

It was a tempting offer. It has been awhile since you have been able to unwind ever since that project started.

Welcome to Adventure Civ Medieval!

In this quest, you will help a medieval realm strive and grow as trouble arises and other nations work on their own agendas.

Last time, the tree people got divided between the traditionalist elf governement and the socialist equalitarian rebel movement.

how to play:
1) choose a realm to play for. change your name to reflect your choice (ex: Bowtie Noble). Max 4 players per realm.
2)each turn, your realm has 2 actions. You can choose a cultural, technological, or immediate acion, plus one bonus action based on your realms' bonus action(if your realm has a bonus tech action, you can do any action one time per turn, plus a tech action).
3)discuss with your compatriots which actions you will take. Once you're done, reply to my recap anchor post with the recap of your actions.

You are Kejeral Roericar, last of the proud and noble Korathi tribe that now lies buried beneath foreign sands. You have awoken into a strange world with naught but disjointed memories as a compass, and your sword arm as a defense. Monsters lurk in every shadow, following you into your dreams. The mysteries of this barren and unforgiving desert threaten to consume you. Your two surviving kindred are the only ones you can trust – them, and perhaps the specter of the Laughing Dog that follows your every footstep.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbMn6qsT3bc&list=PLCE4306D5E48EB951

=================

The pair of Imashet rebels strike cautiously, lunging with swift strokes before returning to cover behind their round shields. You have no shield of your own, but you and your brother hold the high ground at the top of the battlements, your coordinated parries and counter thrusts holding the advancing soldiers at bay and preventing them from bringing numbers up the stairs to surround you. Two of their number have already fallen, their bodies further obstructing you enemies for encircling you – at least for now.

Dorje deflects a strike to your left, and then your opponent tries to maintain the initiative by slashing with his own curved short blade. You block it, but feign a stagger, opening you guard just slightly. The soldier takes the bait and extends himself beyond the cover of his shield to land a blow, but you are ready for him. You strike his thrust aside with enough force to break his guard. In panic, the man raises his shield to compensate – with a swift, powerful kick to his shield from your higher position, you send him falling backwards down the stairs in a heap. Dorje makes short work of his own adversary, all but leaping onto him and bashing the man against the fort’s earthen stones until he stops moving.

Your victory gives you a few moments to scan the courtyard. Most of the loyalists caught in the open space are dead, run down by the insurgent cavalry. A pair of archers remains to your left, still picking off rebel targets in the pocket of safety you have created by holding the stairs. The rest have retreated into the keep, holding the narrow entrances with spears. It appears the rebel attack has stalled – their gambit to seize the fort backfiring completely. Saffoi’s cavalry is already coming in behind them, boxing the enemy inside tight quarters where no retreat is possible. You knew what that meant – enemies with no quarter and no chance of escape will fight like madmen, to the death.

Through the swirling, chaotic melee, you see the masked figure on horseback who tried to run you down the night previous, still directing his men as best he can to counter the new threat.

1/3

>Hold back, let the cavalry do the work now.
>Wade into the thick of it. There is glory to be had.
>Try to regroup with Saffoi.
>Try to regroup with the loyalists in the keep.
>Charge the Insurgent leader.

>Voting

Most posts will be narrative, with the player and QM working together to create a worthy story. Every post will provide at least one might-based, nobility-based, and artifice-based avenue if applicable to the situation, and write-ins are both permitted and encouraged. Players vote for their preferred option, with majority determining the final choice. However, in the case of especially critical events, called “trials,” fate will be given its due through the roll of dice.

>Trials

During trials, after the majority have chosen a course of action, the QM will then roll 1d10, add the player’s relevant Aspect (Might, Nobility, or Artifice), and add any relevant bonuses from items or context. If the resulting sum meets the trial’s threshold, the player succeeds. If the sum falls short of the threshold, the player fails. For each margin of 3 the player exceeds or fails the threshold by, the outcome will be more severe (either positive or negative). Poor rolls by players in combat trials are assigned as enemy hits.

The thresholds for each trial are known only by the QM, and are different for every option. Depending on the situation, one option will probably be easier than the others. Sneaking past the elite palace guard will be easier than fighting all of them. Killing the feral tribe of cannibals is probably easier than talking them down diplomatically. This could change, of course, if the player is particularly proficient with one Aspect and deficient in another. Perhaps your Artifice is so bad that Might is the better option for getting past those palace guard, after all. Players should consider which approach is most likely to succeed given both the context of the trial and the character’s own skillset.

>Hand of Fate

After the results of a given trial are rolled but before the result has been decided, the players may opt to spend their accumulated XP to influence the result. XP spent this way is subtracted from the party’s total pool and added to the die roll. Note that the players may choose to spend XP this way even if they are confident the roll will succeed in order to achieve a higher degree of success. In addition, the QM may provide opportunities in which XP may be spent to acquire favors, equipment, knowledge, or other benefits during the course of the game.

>Criticals

A trial roll of 10 that passes the threshold is a critical success, and reaps additional benefits. Conversely, a 1 that fails the threshold is a critical failure, and has additional consequences. A 10 that fails to beat the threshold still fails, but the player receives some accommodation, insight, or unforeseen benefit in the attempt. Likewise, a 1 that passes the threshold succeeds, but with a minor hiccup or unforeseen complication.

>Damage

Damage dealt by an enemy is equal to half its Might score, rounding down, and is applied to the character’s HP (which replenishes with time and rest). Once HP reaches 0, excess damage is assigned to a random Aspect (M, N, or A) by rolling 1d3. That Aspect is permanently reduced by this damage until it is repurchased with XP at the end of a game session. Should any Aspect reach 0, the character is crippled and incapacitated until 1 week of medical attention restores the first dot of each Aspect. If any Aspect falls below 0, the character suffers death.

Due to scientific achievements in the year 2345, humans are able to go into a copy of our universe and are also able to pick any time you want to start out in. After much thought, you decide to convince people from the past that you are a god and make your mark on history. Using modern science and medicine is the most efficient way to convince locals. You must convince locals that you are a god within 1 year or you will run out of supplies. Once you have convinced enough people that you are a god I will give you instructions on how to get fuel so you can see your impact. The first poster after me should roll 1d4 to start and select which empire you are going to.
