Hi, I just want to post some photos that I took in my photography class. It was a beginner class, so I just want to how my photos stack up. I'm fine with critique.
Also what could I do to help improve my photos? The instructor said that my exposers were done fairly decently considering how littler time I had with the camera. Also we had no light meter.

If you're shooting with a Nikon D5200 why would you need an external lightmeter? It has both automatic exposure and an inbuilt lightmeter
That said, I'm following this thread and I'll post some critique when you're done posting your images

I know stuff like this exists, so don't rail me on the originality of it. But I've been in a major creative rut recently, lacking motivation to get myself out and take photos. But for some reason, I really liked the idea of just going out and recording long clips of static landscapes.
So I went out and bought a good stereo mic for my camera to get good audio, and now I'm just going out and filming for a few hours at different spots in a single location. Shooting it in 4k, log and making like half hour videos to make a youtube channel for ambient sound and scenes.
My first outing sucked, it was super foggy at the beach, and didn't allow me to really stretch the full range of the log format, but still had a good time. And I'm not going for any crazy looking grades, I'm just trying to make it look like you're there.
Is this /p/ approved shooting? Or is it a retarded concept?

Yes, I will be posting pictures as well.
I totally dozed off after making this thread last night, whoops!
Part of my reasoning behind buying this special function camera was to bring it along while I travelled up the Pacific Northwest. I wanted something that would make a more unique photograph so I could remember this trip a little better and have some cool mementos from the places I went. I noticed early on that there were major light leaks - and I still haven't figured out what causes them exactly - but the results from the trip I took turned out pretty well.

I've never used flashes before How do I add off camera flashes to this bad boy? What do I need? Any flashes I should look into or are strobes much better?
>>3021448
the sunny 16 rule, i.e. lift up your shirt on a sunny day
You need some type of wireless triggers. With a cable you plug one into the PC port of the blad. You plug the other trigger into the flash with a cable. A great affordable flash would be the Vivitar 285.
You'll also need a way to meter the flashes. Best way would be to use your digital camera (assuming you have one) to do test shots. Second best option would be to buy a flash meter. Worst option would be to get a Polaroid back and do test shots on polaroids.
>>3021448
Just buy an old eletronic flash with a PC cable on ebay and you're good.
Those old flahs units have like a scale on the back to know what f-number you should use at a given distance and iso.
Since you have a leaf shutter you will sync at all speeds.

You hold it down when you change lenses to pair the camera to the new lens
why ask here? look it up in your manual

It's just the DOF preview stop telling him lies.
It's a Fn buttom, so you can set a custom function there.

How do you sync your audio? Do you sync timecodes or just do it manually?
>>3011013
Manually. I really don't mind it, doesn't take long and gives you more flexibility.
I'm entering an art competition/showing/silent auction for amateurs. I need to pick three pictures to get printed, framed, and submitted.
I've narrowed it down to 6 of what I think are my best ones. Suggestions on what 3 to pick? I trust /p/ more than most people around me.

Any critic to my photo? I really want to improve
>>3024102
Your subject's stiff pose (or your not bursting enough to get a better one from them), your shooting angle (you know, both with regards to your subjects and to the background), weak makeup, poor taste in glasses & male clothing, slightly weak lighting or other things. Its subtly to quite wrong, all of it.
And thats before we even get to what this shot was supposed to "achieve" (engagement? stock photo shot with goofy guy and beauty?).
PS: Lens/body might also have been a little weak.
>>3024102
i dont what this shot is supposed to achieve. it just seems generic and a little bland to me in every way
