Hi /p/
Been living in Japan for a while, I get a break for work when it closes down for maintenance, during spring for a week which Ill take an additional week off.
Currently in remote Gunma area. I know many places are going to get super crowded for sakura season since its popular and short.
So was wondering where I can go that has fantastic scenery for photographing that isnt overcrowded.
Kyushu?
>>3024685
Wakayama-ken. Mie-ken. The whole Kii-hanto is rugged, remote, and beautiful. Plus amazing onsen, like yunomine, amazing temples like the Kumano sanzen and Koya-san. The Kumano Kodo trail. Beautiful beaches. No brainer
Mie-Ken reporting in. If I were you I'd look into Gifu, Fukui, Mie, and Wakayama. Just don't go anywhere that is known for sakura and you should be fine at avoiding crowds. The good thing about the Japanese hivemind is they flock to a couple super popular places and everything else remains vacant.
Can anyone recommend a product photography set-up i can buy online? i only need lighting and a horizontal tripod and a white backdrop. I've seen a bunch on amazon but the reviews are always very polarizing.
this is basically what im going for

That's called a hoodie, not a set-up.
>>3024469
they obviously used a set up to get the white background and proper lighting

How does the BBC manage to get perfect shots on most of their videos?
There's probably 500 hours of footage they used to make that 3 minute video. Apply that same discipline to your own practice and you'll see real results.
That gopro footage from eagle head is cool.
I have my first engagement shoot tomorrow. Nervous. Don't want to do it.
Kill me.

Camera-Specific Properties: Photographer Anita Image-Specific Properties:
Don't be nervous. Shit's easy. It's ultimately about just hammering out a few variables. Look up engagement photos, find some that you like. That elimihates the variable of what kind of photo you want to take. Do you have the basic gear to approximate that photo? That's another variable nailed down. Where are you going to shoot it? Can you give direction confidently? Do you need any props?
People aren't really looking for creativity with engagement photos. They want the same stuff they've seen on facebook a million times. If they do want creativity, cool. Help them achieve exactly their vision.
>>3024083
I guess you're right about them wanting the same ol shit.
I'm not good at giving direction at all though. Tips?
>>3024090
Sure. Discuss what you have in mind first with the couple, maybe show them a picture that you have in mind, and then go for it. Communicate clearly but don't micromanage. Make sure your guy has something to do with his hands, be encouraging when you suggest posing adjustments ("dude you'll look so much more handsome and striking if you put your weight on your back leg.")
Have fun, make jokes to lighten the mood. No one likes having their photo taken, especially for an hour or two. You are dealing with people at their most fragile and self-conscious, so be delicate, but firm, encouraging, but fair.
I had a photography dream last night.
I dreamt of a lens with a built-in leaf shutter and several shutter settings such as "4(00)". In my own dream I was trying to figure out what this meant and what it did, then I finally realized that it meant that at 1/4 shutter speed on the camera, the built-in leaf shutter creates a 1/400 exposure. I imagined the purpose of this lens was for greater flash sync speeds.
In retrospect, the "4(00)" notation is not very clever since 1/400 is not even a full stop of light like 1/4 is. Adding two 0s at the end of slower shutter speeds doesn't create any meaningful stops of light in terms of shutter speeds. But I think the underlying idea was pretty neat.
Have you guys ever had a photography dream?

Good thread
I recently purchased a photo lot from an estate sale with a Yashica LM and a Konica IIIa rangefinder that needs a CLA
Most of the film was expired Fuji Superia and HP5 from the 2000s but in one box I found the following
-Kodachrome 64, K-14 process, unshot (I know there's no way to develop it anyway)
-Kodacolor-X, C-22 process, presumably shot
-Kodachrome II, K-12 process, presumably shot
-Ilford Pan F with a really old faded label, presumably shot.
So this post is mostly in regards to the Pan F. I know I can attempt to develop it, but there are two problems.
1.there appears to be a bend in the opening through which I'm guessing there will have been a 40+ year long light leak so it may all be ruined anyway
2. I think the really old packaging of it looks pretty cool and might just want to use it for display along with the others.
What should I do with this Pan F?

You can get a cheap film puller for like a buck on eBay or Amazon. Pull the film out in a dark bag, trip it and roll it onto your spool, dev it, and keep the canister.

Develop the Pan F on rodinal.
>we are trying to deliver your package the second time
There was no first time I stayed home the whole day just to receive this shit!
Most likely you where high back then or furiously masturbrating.
Keep waiting, m8.

Waerst du einfach nicht daheim gewesen, der Fahrer aber vor deiner verschlossenen Tuere gestanden, wuerde er das Paket einfach an der naechsten DHL-Filiale abgeben.
Hey /p/
When it comes to drones most people go with a phantom but I was wondering if anyone knew of a drone on a cheaper cost that can still produce raw photos. Not really in it for video but Aerial shots.
Looking into it the phantom 3 standard seems to be the cheapest but they have another sensor compared to the better models (Panasonic vs Sony)
But there's other brands like xiaomi mi drone 4K or more.
Does p shoot with drones or know of a good cheap drone that shoots raw?
(There's a catch 22 in all of this I know)

I use a BeBoop.
Takes a nice picture and is smaller and cheaper than the Phantom 3 but almost as good.
>>3022565
shots raw?
would you have any shots you would like to share?
>>3022194
You can DIY one for 1/3rd including the camera, brushless gimbal and tx.
With a Pixhawk compatible controller it will do much more than a phantom
For a camera you can try the Mobius 2 to save a few bucks.

fisheye is dumb
looks like you are going through your fisheye phase OP, lots of kids go through it. It comes along with the discovery of slap and pop bass, tagging, and skateboards and the sooner you grow out of it the happier everyone around you will be. This will of course be with the exception of your friends who also believe they will be into this awesomeness forever. They though will one by one get proper haircusts and wear fitted clothing as they discover girls, at this point you and your friends will spout phrases like ``Bros before Hoes`` and make cracked whiping sounds when they tell you they can`t hang out.
Okay, so I have this canon I need to sell, I'm not much into photography but I'm not really sure where to get rid of it. I have a Canon A-1 with 50m, FD 200M and I thought I had a 3rd but it's seemed to disappear on me. What should I ask, $200 OBO or is that way too high? Low?

200 is high but some idiot will pay it
if someone offers 175 take it, your time is worth more than 25 if you decide to hold out for the 200 mark but if they offer 150 don`t go lower than 175, walk away.
im going by the canadian market so american might be lower I dont`know

I hear I can get that much for just the camera, should I sell the lens separately.?
