Amusing weather stories thread
This just happened
>visiting parents for weekend
>have younger eleven year old brother
>Arizona
>dark clouds in sky
>was raining earlier
>heavy thunder starts
>bro goes outside and stands on a rock in backyard
>looks at sky
>Dovahkiin.mp3
>shouts "smite me almighty smiter"
>heavy as fuck thunder a split second later
>starts to pour
>other siblings and I trying to not laugh our asses off
Pic related, is rock he stood on

I'm glad he's ok. I was expecting either he was gonna get struck/nearly struck by lightning or pelted mercilessly with hail.
I don't feel greentexting but I got struck by lightning when I was 16. Ok greentext time...
>be me
>be 16
>abnormally hot june
>severe thunderstorm warning
>tornado warning (imminent)
>parents go to bed
>me and brother stay up to watch the weather
>hear what sounds like a freight train coming
>window screens start blowing around almost ripping
>we all scamper down into the basement
>power goes out immediately
>worst storm i've ever seen in my life
>constant lightning, thunder, howling
>out the cellar windows you can see the silhouettes of all the trees outside bending left then bending right in the strobe light of the lightning
>suddenly huge explosion in my face
>like someone just blew my head off point-blank with a shotgun
>wake-up 10ft away with everyone hovering over me
the house got hit by lightning and apparently a bolt traveled down through the electrical conduit to the panel next to me and blasted me. half the appliances and electronics in the house were fried, the tv that was next to me was literally cracked and blackened
also OP i hope your brother outgrows that shit before he reaches fedora age
Went fishing once and it was pouring down rain, like just fuck my shit up family. Ended up catching over 100 catfish ranging from 2 to 20lb within a hour. We had 6 rods out and it was just like heron jig fishing at a dam. Had our freezer packed for months. I made deep fried fish sticks at least once a day.
Also we went camping once during a hurricane storm. We were about 200 miles inland and thought we wouldn't get much more than rain. We ended up having high power wind that blew our gear all over the place. We ended up getting back to the SUV and slept in it for 2 days before the road wasn't flooded for us to get out.
Far north west phoenix fag here, I love this weather.
Pic related, took it on my way home.

Vagabonds, Bums, Homeless, soon to be homeless or those thinking about it; ask questions and share tips itt.
We're not here to discuss how to get out of the situations we're in or whether we should be in them at all, though if you're homeless or worried about becoming homeless and need guidance, perhaps we can direct you a little.
>The Established Vagabonds
What should we include in the future OP to help direct flow of the thread? Do we need a pastebin with some basics? (Gear, etiquette, basic survival tips?)
>those thinking about trying a variation of the life
Tell us a little about your situation and maybe where you're located, we'll try to give you some advice. The best advice is nothing though compared to experiencing it yourself, we all started somewhere and often it was diving in headfirst.
>people who are salty and feel the need to tell us
/r9k/ is that way -->
We should get a list of /vagabond/ approved memegear.

He's talking about the Daughter I have on the way
He's a very dedicated troll who's been following since the beginning thread, doing an amazing job
Alternating between pretending to be a homeless crusty who hates on anyone interested in the lifestyle or even other real homeless for not being crusty enough, and a completely unabashed asshat who hates on us as though he were a rich and content business owner. Then, when we're baited into responding, he dips back and claims we all have anger issues and get trolled too easily.
It's literally the same faggot since the first thread, maybe even that tripfag who thought he'd use the threads as an opportunity to talk shit and seem cool after mucking it all up.
Christ, I wonder if he's going to follow the threads forever. Maybe mad that homeless people get laid and he doesn't ?

When I was teen-aged me and a bunch of friends had a drinkin' party in the woods by the train tracks. being a square that i was i had prepared properly. SO by around 3am when everyone was passing out under bushes and in the dirt, i had a warm sleeping bag, spare socks, gatorade, extra cigabutts, etc. anyway this one cutey named matt (also my name aww) who was a year younger than me (he was probably 16 at the time) was all cold and shivvery so i let him climb into my sleebin bag with me. in the dark we played with each other's dicks all night with a bunch of drunk intolerant rednecks all around us. it was really my first gay experience and was exhilerating af
Hey /out/.
I have been in the army for a few months now and every ruck march we go totally annihilates my feet. I have tried moleskin, double socks and foot powder. But my feet still get destroyed. Any other military members or hikers have other suggestions or tips? Or should I just suck it up.
>>742148
What symptoms are you having? "Destroyed my feet" can mean a lot of things here.
>>742148
Hiker here; never worn army boots but I'll let slip what I did to stop wearing blisters.
I wear my shoes tighter. Blisters are caused by friction so you gotta annihilate that friction Anon.
I want to know what type of damage you have.

Well my coworker was supposed to come out this afternoon so he could break in that new #20 PowerPro. Idk what happened, he's probably tryin to deal with his crazy ass wife.
More fish for me.
Let's talk about fishin.

could you fish a poppin pad crasher like a normal pad crasher? I mean if you did it slow enough would'nt that be like getting a 2 in 1?
>>746936
I dunno. I think it'd be a little bit harder to walk the dog with a popper.
Moved to Texas from Florida coast. WHat are the lake/river anglers opinion on Circle hooks? FL law requires them if you are bait fishing.
Best watch for going /out/ - recommendations?
>>740239
I use a chep timex weekender. If would use one of those cheap casio bin ladens only for the chronometer function.
Timex do some great /fa/ outdoors style
Plus they're cheap & reliable.
Thinking about spending my hard earned shekels on this raised tent. It's pretty pricy so I'm curious to see what /out/ has to say about it.
Is it a piece of shit?
Why do you want a raised tent in the first place?
I have a 1lb, 1 person tent that cost me 120 bucks and I've been using it for years. Even in heavy rain, never any problems so long as you're smart about it.
>>740736
No, shit comes out of your anus and is a byproduct of your digestive processes. Thats a tent.
>>740736
I take it you're a car camper? You couldn't pay me to lug that thing around.
I'm on a back-country trail crew for 5 months started mid-May and I need to figure out some footwear. A good work boot that I can also hike in.
Something designed for wildlands firefighting or logging would probably be ideal, yeah? Obviously I don't want a toe-cap and the 3" heels on a lot of loggers seem like it would be awful to cover a lot of ground in. I'd also like boots I can get re-soled.
Been looking at White's and Danners. The White's are cheaper than the Danners but not by a lot. How do they compare to each other?
Any feedback?
Am I overthinking this and my Merrells will be fine?
Is a steel toe a requirement for your job?
>>734900
Nope
>>734875
Am I overthinking this?
Yup. Get something comfortable.
How do you carry it? I usually just take a roll and put it on a plastic bag and into the backpack it goes, but is so bulky, specially when you are 4+ days in the trail and every inch of space counts. I was thinking that next time I'll just wrap some into a piece of cardboard or whatever. Is there a better way? What's your experience guys?
>>737058
I usually bring a roll and a trowel and press the roll flat, when I am short in sully, I try to nick some from the local mountain hut or shit in the river and wash as often as I can.
It weighs almost nothing, dude. I just take an almost finished roll (I mean how much do you need to take, really) from the house and thats' it done.
On long trips (a week plus) I take a wash cloth which I can use to clean my bunghole.
>>737058
Baby wipes in a ziplok bag. Anything else = fail
Have any of you ever had to defend yourself from a wild animals while /out/?
>>743162
Yes son, I did. It was the most traumatizing experience I ever head, and I thank my lord and savior I made it alive.
>be me in 2015

>Midges, thousands of the little fuckers, a black cloud of midges
>adrenaline rushing into my brain, all instinct says fight for your life, no giving up

I wonder if she has a kinky German sex dungeon?
Get rekt Lilly.
>>741591
This channel will never be worth watching from an /out/ perspective. Lilly's goes downhill as she gets more sociable.
What is the most /out/ country in the world?
>>733486
USA and its hat.
As for laws to camp, hunt, camp anywhere, etc.? USA and Canada. For the scenery? That's subjective. I personally like the lakes and flat land of Michigan and Minnesota. Others may prefer more mountainous views. Others like tropical areas.
>>733492
Doesn't it depend on the region? Places like Illinois are pretty cucked for /out/, same with places like Eastern Alberta.
Legal age edition.
>protip; old schrades are god-tier.
I have a craftsman (by schrade) from before schrade when nips-up and it is fucking awesome. didn't have a great edge on day one but man, sharpened it up and i like it better than a buck. really grown to love this thing the last ~18 years or so
>>731465
yeah.. and the nice thing about em, is knife forums don't recognize them as any sort of collectables yet.. and people find their grand dads or fathers old schrade and post em on eBay for like 5 bucks. I've gotten so many great ones off ebay for like dirt cheap. The early version of the extreme survivals [large ass knife] is a great fucking steel, and way better than the new ones they push out.
>>731461
What's the bump limit again? 200 posts? 250 posts? What!? It's 310 posts?
have you ever found anything cool or valuable while /out/?
i found a leatherman in the sand while fishing once and countless lures, Once when i was a child on my parents farm i found what i thought to be a cool looking rare stone, it was amber colored and mildly transparent. It turned out to be a half sucked cough lozenge that had been sitting in the weather long enough to give the impression of a stone.
I once found a cheap multitool while fishing and I recovered a 20m Forest loggers tape by stihl which was buried under a fallen tree
Found a stash of tranny porn magazines from the 80's in a box in the woods here in north Georgia. Almost feel like it was destiny because I'm actually a tranny myself.
Yes I'm completely serious.

Still stoked on Anon from yesterday actually doing research and getting on the most comprehensive lure setup I have ever seen a new angler buy.
About to try the lake for an hour or two and fux around with more Texas rigs. Tomorrow is Friday at least, hopefully everybody gets out to the lake or sea this weekend.
Let's talk about fishin.
>>745234
I don't see why anything like that would be an issue, even in a carry-on bag. If you end up buying a lot of stuff, you could always just mail it back home.
>>745241
Ive no idea, i imagine your cuck ass country has a hardon for sharp metal objects at security.
The EU is utter shit, but i can pretty much seamlessly go from country to country...
>>745247
Even if they didn't want it on the plane for some reason, you could just put it in a checked bag.
I'm just stoked you can bring lighters on the plane again. I can light up a cig right after the flight without having to wait for my bag first.
