You know what to do.
How does I the flyfish
Fly fishing is more fun if you tie your own flies, more of a sense of achievement. It is a fun way to do something fishing related when you cant get out.

I got a yak, but idk if I can bring it to this pond thingy. It's in a park. It doesn't look very big on google maps and I can probably cast to basically the center of it. I couldn't find any info on how deep it is either. I just didn't know if they'd still be around since it's been getting into the high 80s lately.
Over-priced gearfag mall tier store or good source for quality stuff?
Is it worth getting an REI membership?
>>726620
Store is neat to browse, but overpriced. Just my opinion on it.
Overpriced but alot of nice shit, plus the membership is a good deal IMO, you spend 100$ there and you get 10$ to spend back
A neat idea
>>726620
I shop there to keep the store afloat. Its unique in the services it provides, i.e. adventures, advice, gear rentals, equipment service. The dividend and credit card combine into a solid price point. So if we keep spending money there, then the store will continue to exist.
So this is a problem I have.
my gear is surplus and tacticool because price and function, other than that I don't care for the cammo stuff. However I find the neon shit they sale at most outdoor places repulsive. I get is high visibility for a reason but it's kind of a sore to my eyes when /out/.
I have never served in military and I don't want to look like a 3rd world guerrilla when out.
I think i want to mod the look of my pack, by dyeing it or spray paint it. I want it to be playful and maybe even cool to look at, this is my personality.
I don't want to pony it...
I don't want to lotr it...
Any sugestions, I like the look of punkish stuff cyber, steam etc.
In b4 larping.
Tldr. how to remove tacticoolness with paint and patches and shit.
Pic related. That's my shit.
>>722592
That cammo is really effective on that carpet!
>I don't want to look like a 3rd world gorilla
>I like the look of punkish stuff cyber, steam etc.
Pick 1.
Dye it hunter green faggot.
>>722592
Why is that folding saw hovering above ground???
Are hiking poles meme-tier hiking gear? Im getting into hiking and curious what /out/ opinion is on these?
>>729272
They are excellent for mountainous terrain and heavy pack loads, but not really needed for flat land.
>>729276
Ok I was wondering about that. I live in western WA so most of our hike trails are mainly mountainous and hills
>>729272
Used to geocache with one of these for the hard to reach containers-o-shit
Jelly?
>>729151
No.
>>729151
OP trying to talk shit from the back seat. Confirmed for bitch.
>>729188
Well I figured you faggots would be in the back seat also
Knife General 16 thread seems to have stalled. Figured I'd take the liberty of making a new one.
Anybody know where to buy a good Kukri w/ the Chukmuk and Karda included? I'm looking for a tool that could live as a general camp knife for 10 or so years or work as a survival knife.
Pic related is the knife I'm ordering after this summer season
Will pay about 13£ more for the "hand forged blade" custom option
>>724465
That is a very pretty knife; brand/model?
>>724477
It's a KP-Tommi Puukko, here's the site:

You can read all about the make there
Had some fun with this on another board, thought I'd bring some fun over here.
I know this board is slow as shit so I'll post 10 questions now and y'all can answer the questions as you wish and debate until tomorrow night. Feel free to make more questions.
>DO NO GOOGLE THE ANSWERS
the board is slow as fuck so that would really ruin any chance of suspense

I don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Might try and get an hour or two in at the lake this afternoon before I have to do laundry and get some sleep. Oh well.
Talk about fishin'
>I saw someone say they use a mepps for bluefish.
What kind of mepps should i get for bluefish or seabass.
Naturally, it would have to weigh some.
(I would like it to be a mepps since i usually stick to names like rapalas etc)

>>730090
Look for the saltwater Gulp in the blue packages. They have these bright yellow curly tail mullets that you can get in I think 3", 4", and 5" and I use them for bass with a lot of success.
posting again, What lures are a MUST HAVE in your tackle box?
What do you think about not wearing shoes - just socks? There are kevlar socks that are pretty durable, you wouldn't have to worry about sharp rocks or stuff like that, but it'd feel like you're not wearing shoes.
I don't think these would face up well against thin piercing objects
>>724332
When I saw that image I didn't realise that was another foot. Was like wtf is wrong with his foot!
>>724348
the toes of his left foot are pushed up slightly from resting on the rock except for his big toe, if that's what you meant
Can I use this as a walkie talkie with 4 other people?
>>724268
That's a fucking radio, i'd imagine you could.
>>724268
Yes, just make sure you program the correct frequency as well as the ctcss tone.
Always low power, always narrow band - unless you're a HAM and know what you're doing.
>>724432
No. Just buy regular Midland, Cobra, Topcom or other "store-bought" radio's.
If you don't know exactly what you're doing with this shit you're in for a world of hurt. Wish I was kidding
Looking for a bushcraft knife to go innawoods with. I'm going to rely on it heavily
Is CRKT a good name? I was looking at pic related on amazon for $65

the bottom of a ceramic coffee mug
Exactly what's on your pic, I add one more finer stone and a piece of leather. I mostly use the stones minus the clamp unless i really need a neat edge.
Also a river stone.
>>709884
Pic related
I bought one of those Smith's double-sided diamond ones for $20 from Dick's. It's more of a portable deal and works well to get a decent edge but could probably use one finer step.
I'm not turbo-autist when it comes to the knives though. I'm just here for the shitposting.
Hi /out/
So my friend are I are both very novice hikers with no real experience besides casual trips that only last a few hours, and we both want to attempt a small part of the Appalachian Trail this summer.
We're thinking of departing on a Thursday or Friday in mid June, and finishing the hike on a Sunday, so it would only be 3 days at the most. We don't have any experience with hikes that last multiple days, so could anyone help us out with what gear to bring, how to prepare, and other tips. We're in North Jersey, so we're going to be sticking around that area.
Also, does anyone have stories from their time on the AT, or their first real hike?
Thank you all!
3 days /out/ with no real experience?
I recommend you spend a night in your backyard or local woods to get a feel for it and make sure that what materials you have is enough to survive.
Other than just use your common sense.
>>730695
Where do you live? If you live near Shenandoah, or MA; go habe some fun. But the rest of the AT is probably going to be too hard for you.
>>730797
>3 days
>worried about survival
All you really need is water for 3 days. You won't starve to death.
Trying to get out on my own, and want to know about truck driving. Is it good nowadays with college going to shit? Wageslave forever type of job?
>>730524
There's a truckerfag thread on /o/. Just be careful. Company driving OTR won't make you a ton of money. Only way to make good money is owning your own truck. And even then hopefully you don't have a family because you will be sleeping in the truck.
>>730524
>>730535
Everybody on /o/ will probably just tell you to go get some computer certifications or something that will give you more options 10 or 20 years down the road.
>>730524
/out/ truck driver here. There is a lot of hype out there lately and truck driving seems to be becoming hip.
This is foolishness.
Its a horrible job for angry old men like me.
Young people have no business in this career
It will ruin your life and erase your social skills.
Not a joke .
Also when you break it down hourly, the money is horribly bad.
ITT we share our best childhood /out/ experiences
