What is the best brand barefoot shoes and why? I've read tim ferriss article on it, but my feet are too wide for these fivefingers type shoes.
None. Even millions of years ago humans made shoes. Thinking you need to be barefoot or feel like you're barefoot to "be one with nature" is fucking retarded. Go be an autist on Dual Survivor. You'll fit in.

Loved my Vibram fivefingers. Tore them up in 5 warm months
More acceptable in town than barefeet.
Cops go from "we gotta investigate" to "wat a fuckin loser"
Good for breaking in feet after years of "arch support" and cushioning (Read: riding in a stroller).
Made me change how I walked on hard surfaces.
Would buy again (this time used because of price).
>>736026
Barefoot shoes is an oxymoron. Just wear sandals.

I wonder if a metal pipe would contribute too much of a flavor to the tobacco? Putting it into a metal pipe, that is cut short to accommodate the C-clamp would allow a great deal of pressure more than the wooden box.
>>736032
People have built metal presses. Don't know how much a taste it imparts.
How long can meat wait between killing and eating, unrefrigerated? I want to make a painting of a dead rabbit and my spouse agreed to shoot one for me. It might take all day to paint. But I hate to waste it as meat, and would feel better if I could paint it then eat it. How many hours can it sit out to be looked at without going bad? Thank you /out/.
Depends on the temperature. You can hang the meat for a week on birds and rabbits and hares in a coldish cellar and it's still edible.
Forgot to say, it will be 75 degrees today. Tomorrow will be 50. I want to get to work but it could wait til tomorrow if it makes any difference.
>>730762
What angle are you painting it from? If the belly isn't visible you could gut the rabbit and preserve the meat longer. 50 farenheit will probably be fine.
Why hasn't modern science been able to create synthetic fabrics that are superior to wool?
Synthetic insulating fabrics are already warmer by weight, dry much faster, cheaper, and are more comfortable to wear.
The problem is that synthetic fabrics don't do well around fire and they get stinky faster which is going to be tough to solve.

Not tnan merino wool . My merino long lohn silvers are amazingly comfortable

Pls die. like. fall into an old mineshaft, break your hips and knees, and starve to death. Die. but I suppose that might be hard to do, since you never leave your house. so choke on a dorito and die that way.
>>735138
it comes down to micro size per thread.. lots of company's aren't gonna foot the bill to give you super soft synthetic fibers.. so they are expensive, like real expensive not dicksporting goods expensive. Rayon can pretty much be turned into finer than silk. problem is, you ever sleep on top of silk sheets? you slide around like some squeezed KY jelly on a block of ice and told you to try to lay on it, but the block of ice was tilted 10 degrees on direction.

I was just talkin to a guy who lives on this lake I'm at, and he said he pulled a 14lb snakehead out of here recently and it was 46" or something stupid. Then I got that fatty today that had to be close to 5lb.
Either way, he says he doesn't even kill them anymore, one reason is because most of the eggs still survive. But he was on a boat, I normally leave them on land. Anyway he says he still catches a lot of bass and I think he enjoys catching sneks.
I'm still gonna keep fighting the good fight though.

Hey /out/, what boots do you use for hiking? I had pic related for a year (they are actually snow boots, since I'm moving up north where there will be snow) in which I never did any actual hiking, and now that I actually went hiking for the past 5 days, I hiked a total of around 25 miles in rocky terrain and to my dismay they got fucked up terribly by he end of it.
I've heard people here say they have hiked over 200 miles or something, what boots can put up with that? Which ones do you personally use and are they any good?
>>698005
I just bought a pair of Arcteryx Bora 2's for a trek in Patagonia. 100 miles later plus some hikes around my home, I've probably got close to 200 miles on them total already and they are showing very few signs of wear. I had some other issues with the lower lace hook causing some pressure but after I got that sorted they fit and feel pretty great. Maybe a little warm if you're not going to be in water, snow or cold, but even hiking around in California they weren't too bad, but maybe not ideal.

Only newbs wear boots
389km so far with my Meindls Borneos MFS boots, in all king of trail : grass, rocky, muddy, sandy, snowy, icy, dry, soaked.
They have signs of wear, but they are not fucked up at all and can go for another 400 km.
The boots in your pic are for snow only, that's why they don't hold well in rocky terrain.
I am looking for a few good people to help me build a very small, close knit, community of like minded individuals who wish to start fresh. This community will be unplugged from society as much as possible and will be as self sufficient as we can. Living off of and on the land, gathering our own food, building shelters, finding water, everything we need to do to survive.
This is no weekend retreat. I have done this once, solo, for about a year before family matters brought me back. This time I am aiming for far more than a year. Anyone else with the ambition, knowledge, fortitude and curiosity are welcome to send me a message and we will see how things work out. I have a small area of land that can be used, but if anyone else does as well it is all the better since a change of scenery is great.
This is more than living off the grid. This is living off the beaten path and if you're anything like me, this could be an opportunity of a lifetime.
Anyone interested please reply. Please also include what survival experience you have (if any), whether you have any land available for use, what your thoughts are on living out under the stars, and why you would like to be a part of this community. If you are young with no experience or older with all kinds, it comes down to mostly who I think would best fit the group, but I appreciate all emails from interested parties. I certainly wont rule anyone out based solely on age, sex, etc, and because everyone deserves a second start, your past is your own. I only care about how you can help us all have a new start.
Assuming all goes as planned, this will begin within the next 4 months.
Only serious emails will be reviewed and must have the information previously specified. Think hard on this before you reply because it is never as you imagine it, but it is always worth returning to.

Hey, /out/.
I know most of us will have exams coming up over the few weeks, but you might like this just to socialise with other people from /diy/ (and a few other boards) and take the edge off exam stress a little.
There's a 4chan minecraft server going up, sort of a board-wide thing, and I just thought you lot might be interested to come on and chill out on it for a bit. Like the boards, just faster. It's pirate friendly, so you should be able to connect on a client you got from piratebay. IP is "4chab.online".
Inviting /sci/ and /diy/ along too, they're pretty mature boards and I think we crossover with them quite a bit. Map is pic related. Think we could live on the little island in the bottom left.
Don't bother interacting much with the autistic boards like /pol/.

People have been fucking up my campsite when I'm not there: littering, destroying the flora, and making it gross in general. What it seems like is a group of hooligan kids that go there to drink. What are some ways to sabotage the camp for good?
My idea: dig out the whole clearing, making it a pond. So far all I've done is write FU in stones and pissed all over them so when they move the rocks they touch my urine
I'd opt to stay away from booby traps that could harm people, because it could hurt an animal
>get electronic predator call
>hide in woods
>play dying animal sound
>proceed to scare the shit out of hooliganz
Just straight up kill them. There is no witnesses. They won't find a thing. Those CSI TV shows aren't even close to realistic. Bury them in a swamp or bog.

I have a 26'' Hyper Havoc Full Suspension 21 Speed that I bought for $100 a couple years ago (pic related) and the guy who put it together was lazy or inept
and it fell apart on me during a ride home from high school but now I have it at college and after doing some repair and mechanical trickery it is kind of working.

>I know I need a specific size chain but I don't have the manual with me so I'm not sure what size chain to get
If it's a 21 speed you need a 7 speed chain because the back wheel has 7 cogs (something like a SRAM PC-830 7/8 speed chain). It'll probably be too long, so you take out a few links with a chain tool.
>Is there a place where I can find an owners manual online for it cause I haven't found one yet
Probably not one for the specific bike but http://www.sheldonbrown.com is a good place to start for general information.
>Am I a complete tard who knows nothing about bikes
Yes, but we all were at one point.
21 speed in your case means 3 chain rings on the crank and 7 cogs on the rear hub. You will need a 7 speed chain. You will also need a chain break to correctly size it, remove links. I build my own bikes as a hobby. I'm probably 7/10 good at it but watch a lot of YouTube videos and own pic related.
