Are there any south jersey sc/out/s? Where do you like to go to be /out/?
Normally I go around Wharton state forest, plenty of different trails and what not to hike around on, can't say I find it that interesting though just flat Sandy land but that's what you get South Jersey, normally I go to PA or NY to do my camping. I plan on going canoeing down the Mullica river for a few days this spring, plenty of spots to pull over and camp

I kayak in Oyster Creek, Barnegat Bay, and Cedar Creek.

Central jerseyfag here (it does exist). I don't do much in south jersey ever, though a bunch of my friends just hiked the batona trail. I'm usually driving up to NY to go hiking but I'm at sourland mountain pretty much every week

Why didn't he go full PRIMITIVE TECHNOLOGY?
He was still living in a cave.
>>727691
Caves make excellent shelters. You've just got to make sure you're not the only one with that idea before you move in, though.
why spend all that energy building a shelter when he had that sweet cave?
PrimTech:
>shit no cave
>i must build one myself then
CastAway:
>ooo cave

Thinking of buying land and building a Green Magic Homes kit. Does anybody have information on the costs? I was thinking of getting a custom design. A large great room with small kitchen, a bedroom, and a spare room that would be my office/sleeping for guests. And a bathroom of course. Then build a large pole barn for storage, work shop, etc.
I asked /diy/ a few weeks ago but got no responses. It'll be mostly off the grid besides satellite internet.
Also, what are the legalities on hunting on your own property? Does game season laws apply to private property and it's only for public land or?
>>728134
Yes game laws apply in US. In my opinion if you own the land you own the animals. Get a bow or crossbow maybe?
>>728189
The land will be remote. I have a longbow for fun but I've never gotten accurate enough with it to hunt with. Perhaps I could buy a crossbow? I'm not a huge fan of compound bows. I will also be growing veggies. If anything, I can just say the deer was messing up my garden.
Dies anyone know what this is? I've been asking around and nobody knows.
Here's another pic
Do the holes go all the way through? It could be a jig for drilling the same set of holes in two pieces of wood. Then you could attach them together with dowels.
Any keen fishermen? Post pics of your big catches. This Shovelnose Shark was caught in Qld Australia using a live whiting.

What is the most remote wilderness for long-term living in the US?
>>727310
Alaska. Has a crapton of islands, can live somewhat near a rescue area while maintaining remoteness.

Check out this cool Tactical tent I just got
Also got a matching tactical sleeping pad to go with it!
Am I not cool?
>anime
No, you're not cool, but it looks like a nice tent
Those pads are pretty sweet. It's ok OP, I also love tactically matching colors.
>>726971
looks fairly practical overall. let us know how it works out in practice. Always good to have assessments of stuff from fellow sc/out/s. I'm not huge on the tactical element but if it works...
If Banana lures came back, does anyone think they would sell well?
>>726805
They never left
>>726805
You talking about floating ones like in the pic? Or those banana shaped deep diving cranks they advertise for walleye and trolling real deep?
>>726808
The one in the pic. I know someone who got the old lathe they used to make them.

Can we start an NZ outdoors thread?
>Where are your favourite camping spots/hiking trails?

Anything related to NZ at all is welcome

Went out to Karekare for a day hike (JAFA here) over summer, absolutely stunning views. Anybody know any other places around Auckland worth visiting on a short trip?
Rees river North of Glenorchy. down in the south island. we went to finish the whole track including dart river but floods made it impassable. going back there at some point to finish it.
That jumper is a three layer 100% wool hoody i made myself before going on the trip. honestly fuck ever paying $300 for a wool jumper, it literally took me 6 hours to hand stitch the whole thing.

Looks super comfy.
And I really need to go hiking down on the south island, it's some of the best scenery in the world, very jealous.
Guys guess if it is morning or evening in the picture ! Ans
Looks like an evening.

I would guess dusk. But it's a 50/50 shot.
evening
I presented this idea as a joke, and now my fiancee really wants to do it for our honeymoon. There are several companies through which you can rent a private deserted island in the Pacific for as long as you want. The luxury options include a bungalow and private guide; the bare-bones option gives you a compost toilet and a fishing spear, and nothing else. That's the one we'll do.
I'm just a little concerned that the sun, hunger, cabin fever, and mosquitoes will get to us and make us hate each other. Even the endless sex would be ruined by sand.
What do you think is the maximum amount of time our relationship could survive the strain? We've both spent a week alone together innawoods before, and I'm good at bushcraft. but I'm pessimistic.
What do you guys think, go for the bungalow option?
Pic related, the polar opposite of what it's gonna actually be like
Also posting this pic because it makes me happy.
>>726158
I think go with something a little more amenable. Not that it wouldn't be fun to survive the fuck out of a desert island, but a honeymoon is supposed to be about enjoying each other's company, not trying to find a way to stay alive. However, it might be a good test of the strength of your bond, so there's that. So I really am not going to be of any help here.
>>726158
How far from civilization will it be? Have you booked it yet? I would just make sure you do it during the right season. Not the summer or rainy season.
It would be cool to do something like that in the Keys. There are so many tiny islands. Except I might want to trade the fishing spear for a personal chef. And my wife for a porn star.

What's the cheapest i can eat while /out/ for a week?
It's a week. Just drink plenty of water and carry a Gatorade packet or two per day. Fish or hunt for bonus. You won't starve to death.
>>726048
Hobo hunting is cheap and easy. Just remember: the younger the hobo, the more tender the meat so I prefer to go after hipsters and runaway teens. Also you want to cook thoroughly to ensure any and all parasites are killed off.
>>726048
Minted smoked trout, cat-tail and squirrel soup, wild rice with puffball mushroom, with maple beer and berries for desert.
I sometimes eat better /out/ than I do /in/.
