Does / has anyone ever carried an airgun while out?

I've been looking at breakdown .22s, but I can carry a lot more ammo for a pellet gun.

Any good options available? I feel like there may be a niche market for it.

Op your pic's pistol is a crossman co2. There's a few versions of it but it's wildly popular in the modding community with a lot of manufacturers creating mods for it.

Its what I'd get if I wanted a micro hunting gun

caliber alone is meaningless. My full 12 fpe .177, shooting pic related will easily outperform the one you posted.

That said - air rifles are effective against small game - I'm talking rabbits at 30 yards - wether you use a .22 or .177.

You're looking at around 8-10 pounds of rifle though. You could carry a pcp, as they are lighter, but then you are limited to 80-100 shots (might be more than enough for an outing, but you're screwed if it isn't).

In general, I'd recommend a good .22 spring piston - geta Walther lgv/lgu, air arms tx200, or a weihrauch hw97.

Walther Terrus in .22 is as low as I'd go.

Don't know if this is the right board for this.

I want to try unicycling.

What unicycle would be best to start out with? A 20" or a 24"?

I want a bike that is good for learning, but also capable to do tricks and jumping (not drops).

I am 170 cm (about 5'7") and my inseams are about 30 inches.

2- probably not the best place

I still think 2 wheels are better.

But 24" seems huge for a unicycle. The few I've seen where people do tricks seem to have 20" wheels. It's probably just a front wheel from a BMX bike.

Sup /o/

Do you guys live close to national parks / forests? The nearest to me is the Shenandoah Wilderness and it's 3 fucking hours away. Are there any maps of slightly illegal places closer to D.C I could camp instead?

Pretty much anywhere in South Florida, you are only a short drive away from the Everglades. I don't think it's exactly prime campung area but at least there is a big patch of nature nearby. Plus the whole ocean.
>>
>>752570
wow I'm jealous

You would think with the appalachian trail going through my state there would be more places to camp, but after digging around it looks like they're all in bumfuck west virginia
>>
Virginiafag here, Merrimac Farm is fairly close to DC. I've never been there but it could be nice. Try looking into other WMA's, state forests, or even scouring GIS data for land that is open to public but not explicitly labeled as being available for camping.

I was wondering something, what is /out/'s opinion on trapping for fur and meat? I raised doing it so I know pretty much everything and I have dealt with animals before on the trapline. Anyway off topic sorry I was wanting to know what you guys think about trapping for fur? I personally don't think its wrong or anything like that but I was wanting to know your guy's opinion on it.
35 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
For survival, sure. Any sort of hunting for fun is kinda fucked up IMO.
>>
>>752358
if you're only use the fur/skins and not the meat then you aren't doing all you reasonably can with what you kill
it's not fair to say you must use every piece of the animal but you can eat the meat or give it to others or feed pets there's no good reason to not take the meat
>>
At this point if you're not spending every single free moment dealing with traps you're not making any money. Even then, you're still probably not making any money. Fur prices aren't worth anything right now. I stopped a few years ago. The amount of money I was making wasn't worth the effort. No problem with it. I don't even care if people do it recreationally. If you're taking out predatory animals I'm grateful. Pheasant and rabbit populations are a fraction of what they were when I was a kid. Michigan just made coyote hunting a year round thing. Hopefully that brings the numbers up.

>Take him for a small walk to get him used to walks again (Pulled muscle in leg, a few weeks into healing process)
>Pretty heavy rain and thundering
>Didn't want to drag tarp with me as I didn't plan on being there long
>Top layer of Dickie's coat with fleece lining is soaked, Italian surplus jacket is a bit wet around cuffs and tail. Shirt is just fine
>25L Molle pack is pretty soaked
>Pants are fine until having to walk through 3 feet tall brush, then fronts of legs are soaked
>Boots/socks were fine until pants got soaked

I've thought about getting a decent rain poncho to cover myself. And a backpack rain cover as well. Anything I can really do to cover legs when walking through soaking THICK brush in moderate rainfall?

Rainproof shell pants and gaiters.
Cheaper ones might not be as durable for thick brush but you can get some rugged ones.
>>
>>752347
Any good brands you'd recommend for both shell pants and gaiters?

If you're a surplus kind of guy maybe get your hands on one of those Austrian goretex coats?

Hi fellow sc/out/s!
I'll be doing a couple multi-day hikes over the summer and was thinking about bringing my DSLR along. How do you carry your camera for easy accessibility? Near the top of your pack seems like a no-brainer, but I'm not feeling having to take my 20+ lb bag on and off multiple times to get the camera+lens out... Also would bringing wide angle and zoom lens be overkill?

>Also would bringing wide angle and zoom lens be overkill?

depends on how much emphasis you're putting on photography during the hike. but if you're too lazy to take a 20 lb pack off a couple extra times, i'm guessing probably no.

What does /out/ think of my latest acquisition? It was only 25 euros which I thought was not much for a swedish quality axe. The handle needs some work as the varnish/paint is very slippery in hand. I'm going to scrape and sand the handle and put some boiled linseed oil on it.

Hey guys can anyone help me out i want tho know when iit is the right time to start foliar feeding my cannabis plants
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>751106
Just monitor your plants and respond accordingly. There are so many resources available on raising cannabis its ridiculous. Foliar feed may not even be necessary.
>>
>>751106
Google it. There are more info on cannabiz than anything else
>>
I've never needed to foilar feed whatsoever. Then again I am only familiar with indoor grows. Are you growing outdoors with an inferior strain or in bad soil or something?

Tell us more, indica or sativa? indoor or outdoor? what kind of setup do you have? fertilizer? any growth hormones/nutrients? whats the origin of the plant, seed/clone?

Hey /out/ I'm buying my first shotgun (so far I've got one my uncle gave me) soon and I'm not sure on what type of furniture should I get synthetic or wood. I find wood sexy as fuck but maybe synthetic its just better. What would you guys recommend?

What model are you looking for? How much do you want to spend?
>>
>>751064
I'm getting either a benelli or a beretta semiautomatic but that's not my question as I'm quite sure.

Just asking what are the advantages/disadvantages of wood and synthetic furniture.

Of course for /out/ and hunting purposes, tht's why I'm posting here and not /k/.
>>
>>751068
Well, they both perform similarly IMO. There are slight weight and care differences but it doesn't really affect the function of the gun a noticeable amount.

The reason I was asking is because, in my opinion, it is better to get wood furniture on higher end / more expensive shotguns just because a shotgun with wood furniture will hold its value better. If you were going to be getting a cheap pump action like a Mossberg 500 or a Rem 870 then I'd advise you to get whatever was cheapest.
