Hey /out/, 4chan Spring Babby is coming! And /out/ is going to host it.
What's your thoughts about it and the teams?

When is it?
Is there another single human ever that was as cool as Dick?
He surely is the patron saint of /out/ right?
Inform me on this "Dick"
Did little to even make an attempt to conserve
>cut down healthy trees to make multiple cabins rather than using fallen trees or other renewable housing materials
>wasn't trying to promote renewable or green living, just wanted to live by himself for selfish reasons
Overall his environmental impact was negative, the patron saint of /out/ would be someone who works to make sure wilderness stays untouched for future generations, not someone that cuts it down for fun.
>>740324
Wasn't he borrowing a friend's cabin while he built his with tools he brought in from the city?
Didn't he have supplies shipped in to him?
Wasn't this back in the day when you could basically just live anywhere you wanted and claim ownership of lake-front property that would be worth millions of dollars today?
It's kind of cool that he built his own house, but a generation earlier, that was pretty common. Hundreds of thousands of settlers built cabins across mainland US, many of which still stand today. Some areas of which were arguably harsher than an alaskan lakeside cabin with limitless sources of water, fish, firewood and game.
There's probably posters on this board more /out/ than Dick.
Asking this more of out of a hypothetical than concern. I've lived in Kansas all my life and have had many "close calls" living in central Kansas (salina), so I'm not really concerned about this one, but it popped a thought in my head.
Assume a Tornado is gonna wreck the shit out of my hometown. Would it do me any good if I were to tether myself to a solid structure like a toilet via climbing harness and line? Would it give me any advantage over just sitting in there waiting for it to pass?
lay down in bathtub and if you have time put a mattress over the top of you.

#34- "Pontoon Boat A Best" Edition

I can't be the only one who wants to know what her boyfriend is using for bait.
Let's talk about fishin'
>>748842
>what her boyfriend is using for bait.
You want to see his worm?
>>748834
+1 on the backpack idea like Mainebub said here >>748840. The actual fishing backpacks are sweet but get kinda pricey. You need to spend at least $50 to get a halfway decent ones and good ones are closer to $100.
Film canisters don't sound like a bad idea as long as you don't pop them open on accident. Maybe a pill bottle? But if you do a regular backpack, I still think a really small clear box with dividers for $3-$4 would be good to toss in there. Keep just your hooks and weights in there and you don't have to worry about them getting loose and tangling with lures.
>>748850
Not necessarily that, I think I'll be ok in that department. He obviously doesn't have money judging by the shitty boat. What else could it be?
Maybe it is the boat. I need a boat.
Do you come across drug paraphernalia a lot?
I saw a syringe someone couldn't be bothered to throw out today; at least the person put the cap on. I really would not be all that surprised to find a one-pot meth lab (aka nasty 2L).
If people want to poison themselves, they can, it's a free country. But don't screw up the environment for those of us who want to keep living in it.
>>748030
Maybe he's just leavin the stick for the next guy who is tryin to get high and can't find a needle.
>>748030
yep it's really bad where I am. Recent documentary on herion use and the deaths here.
Darwin will win in the end.
>>748030
Wouldn't say "a lot", but yes. Happens once or twice a year.
Rode by what I'm fairly certain was a recent meth lab in the woods, maybe 100yds off a spur from a foresty-servicey road. Smelled something funky, rode a little further and there was a bunch of chemical bottles laying around that hadn't been there long.
Marked it in my GPS and nope'd outta there, fwd'd the coords to FS-LEO office.
Year or so later, out riding at night, stopped on that main FS road to take photos. Heard something in the trees, opposite direction of the meth-lab I had stumbled across, but still within easy walking distance... Didn't see anything... decided not to stick around there that night.
>Pic related
Noise was coming from the trees on the right.
At the top of the hill there's a spur off to the left, just past that is where the methlab was.
Hey /out/, figured I'd share a story.
I turned homeless in January. Like most others, I posted asking for advice. After careful deliberation, I disregarded it all.
I feel happier now than I have when I was working, and paying bills. It's such freedom. It was tough the first couple of weeks. I was homesick and cold, but I came around to the idea that the entire world is my home now.
I started out in Washington, and made my way down south. I ended up in a tiny town in Oregon, and it is gorgeous here. I started off by staying on BLM land, but I got chased off pretty quick. I just bummed around the outskirts of the town, staying in thickets along the roadways. After a while, I came to a stream and started following it up because I was curious. I ended up on some old mans property. I stayed there for 3 nights before I was discovered. The old guy turned out to be pretty cool, and as long as I don't damage the property, I'm allowed to stay.
As for food, I have foodstamps from washington, but it's only $190 and doesn't feed a person for a month, so I poach fish and small game. I even got away with a Salmon during the spring run.
The trick with being homeless is completely disregarding the rules If it means your survival. I spent a week on the streets of Tacoma, and I stole shit to survive. The biggest law to break though is trespassing. Trespassing means shelter, and sometimes warmth, and most the time if you are caught, police don't even bother asking for names. They just run you out.
Being homeless isn't nearly as bad as it seems, provided you don't have a crippling drug addiction, or children. Sure meals are inconsistent, and hot showers are few and far between, but I would gladly sacrifice those things to be as happy as I am right now.
TL;DR, I am a happy homeless guy.
Also, I am at a library, that's how I am posting right now.

Good for you man! That sounds refreshing. How old are you? Relationships? Those are important. Don't forget those.
>>746567
I'm 25. and the only relationship I have is with my little doge. He's not good for much except warmth at night, and an alarm system. I kinda forsook human relationships, they are needlessly complicated and infuriating.
>>746561
Fascinating OP.
Do you have any other stories of meeting interesting folk out on the road?
Yo hunting faggots, got the balls to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tqW8YZDE9o
50 tons of apex predator vs you, lance only and in the middle of the deep blue sea. Now top that!
That's like 50 people though. Alone, you'd be fucked.
Takes some balls to do that.
literally every whale's life is worth significantly more than his.
>implying that I'm a third worlder that needs to risk his life for a small income.
There was just thread on trail work. What other awesome job are there that put you outside?
Geologist. Of course you can easily be a labrat too as a geologist but if you want to you can spend quite a lot of time /out/
>>740359
Forester in the north of England.
Ask me anything.
I work in construction.
Avoid the contruction that is mostly buildings. it's hard to explain, but in my country construction is separated into two things; Bygg and Anlegg (building and construction), so I'm not talking about the kind of construction that happens in urban places, but for example now the project we're working on is building a dam inna mountains.
You and a few friends are about to be sent back to stone age times. There are no other humans, and you can return home if you survive 5 years.
Before you leave, you have a limit of $500 to purchase supplies online. What do you choose to take with you?
Let's see who can come up with the best shopping list & strategy.
>>733563
That's a tight fucking budget. Backpack I want costs $700, I'll have to think about this.
>>733563
So are we in our current locations?
Axe
Knoife
Leatherman
Firestarters
Couple tarps
Big roll of screen material for windows or doors
Fishing rod and tackle
Marijuana seeds
Hustler magazine
Sling shot or pellet rifle
Cordage
Antibiotics
A couple towels/rags
>>733563
shitloads of medicine, antibiotics, and first aid. and insect protection - screen, bugnets, repellants, etc. after that some good /out/ clothes and modern weaponry.
by the end of those 5 years i hope to have been fucked by a neanderthal somehow. if i act all pretty and crawl around on all fours waving my bare butthole at him he might just do it and not smash my skull in with a rock
>promoted to run camp from just a counselor
>camp has no traditions or events beyond activities
Need ideas /out/. What are some things i can do to make the summer awesome? Ive only ever been to computer programming camp and this is more of an outdoor camp on a college campus.
What were your favorite camp activities, traditions, traditions?
>>748657
Rehab was the best camp I ever went to
>kayaking
>hiking
>rock climbing
>mountain biking
>sauna
>hot tubs
>endless supply of books from local library
>learned how to cook at 10,000 ft
>no women under the age of 29
>no access to porn, had to use my imagination
>learned how to meditate
>horseback riding
>fishing
>culture of banter
>no faggy songs like at that Christian camp I went to when I was younger
>real nigga hours with my fellow participants where we snuck off to do peyote extracted from the nearby cacti
only thing it was missing was riflery and archery, 2bh.
>>748665
Fortunately we have both a rifle range and archery. I just feel like they pay a lot of money to fuck around dall going from activity to activity. I feel like there should be more color or culture to the camp. Like more of an identity. I dont know if that makes sense.
>>748667
you can't just enjoy being outside? you have to be extremely white about it?
Hello family, what do you carry in your /out/ medical kit? I'm looking for suggestions to upgrade mine. Just for general hiking and camping, for 1-2 people.
I normally carry the basics but then I have extras as QuikClot which has saved my life and a couple leg wraps as I have broken my leg. Also legal very strong painkillers. Nothing fancy just the basics but with some extras.
OP here
Current kit:
>Band aids - about 10
>Paracetamol tablets - 12
>Insect bite cream (Stingoes for all you Ausfags)
>Anti-diarrhoea tablets
>Water purification tablets
>Small bandages - 2
>Small spool of gorilla tape
all carried in a zip lock bag.
Poster above you op, I carry (just as you replied decided I'd say this)
~Basic Band Aids Small x10-15 Larger 20 Large for large cuts 4
~Duck Tape ~30Ft or so for wrapping
~QuikClot
~Wrist/Ankle Wrap x2
~PainKillers
~Epee pen (whoever you spell it allergic to bees)
~Septic Swaps x40 (I got mad with them)
~Small 150ml bottle of liq alcohol
~Nail Clippers/Tweezers
~Some other crap for making bandaids and wraps
~Water Pur tablets but to be honest I rarely use them as I have a filter built in my water bladder
All in a nice bag weighing just under 1.2 pounds.
Cheers
Michigander here. Raked up this little fella while doing some yard work. Pretty sure its a fox snake but im no speciliast. Anyway I think im going to keep him. Itt Opinions, species, care, snake general.
Try >>>/an/
>>748187
keeping native animals as pets is illegal in a lot of areas. check your state and county code. also they are aggressive as fuck.
also put your snek back outdoors. it will be happier that way. and go rescue one from a shelter.. yeah shelters get sneks all the time because they got "big" and the retarded spics and niggers can't fucking read. "WILL GROW UP TO XXX INCHES LONG"
>>748187
Nigga be careful, check to make sure it isn't poisonous. The head is arrow shaped, check and see if the pupils are round, if they're eliptical like a cat's eyes then throw that little fucker away.
Why aren't you innawoods right now, anon? Pic related, out there right now.
I'm pretty hungover today. Plus I like to wait till there's more foilage and greenery before I feel cumpfy.
From Slovenia, recent little exploration.
>>746879
Sorry for no image rotation, this image is also from the same trip, Slovenian camping man here.
Hey. Me and my mates are semi-experienced wild campers. We've been on small trecks in the UK. We are well equipped and looking to venture into Europe.
We're respectful of the environment, so we're not so concerned about where is legal or not.
But are there any suggestions on picking a location? Preferably somewhere wooded, for obvious reasons (resources, concealment, weather).
tl;dr any advice on wild camping in Europe? Especially location suggestion.
>Messy campground with trash everywhere
>Oversized fire
>Shit-tier clothing
>Shit-tier tent
>Asking basic basic questions
Yep definately semi-experienced wild campers.
*AUTISM INTENSIFIES*
>>744873
>respectful of the environment
>burning a whole fucking trunk
Hey fellow sc/out/s
I'm taking my girl scouts hiking this weekend. Most of the time we'll spend on walking, making camp, cooking and finding fire wood.
Apparently this is boring.
What other activities could one prepare to liven things up?
>>744607
I've come up with this so far
>making macramè and leather belt
>riddles
>collecting leaves and other flora to press dry and identify when we get home
>make songs about bacon
I wish I could come up with more outdoorsy stuff.
>>744612
Throwing fork?
Think about what they would answer when you ask the question "what would you like to do/learn tonight" Then educate yourself about all the possible answers, and come up with fun ideas relating to each answer. If all else fails, bring stuff to make smores with and tell stories? You could also try bringing some amethyst/quartz along and give them each a piece, make up some stuff about how rocks are special. You can keep their minds occupied!
