What is the most /out/ country in the world?
>>
>>733486
USA and its hat.
>>
As for laws to camp, hunt, camp anywhere, etc.? USA and Canada. For the scenery? That's subjective. I personally like the lakes and flat land of Michigan and Minnesota. Others may prefer more mountainous views. Others like tropical areas.
>>
>>733492
Doesn't it depend on the region? Places like Illinois are pretty cucked for /out/, same with places like Eastern Alberta.
>>
>>733494
yeah but OP said "country," I don't have to pick just one state.
>>
>>733486
Probably China

As a german, I'd probably say some place in northern scandinavia like sweden or norway. I've never been to finland, they don't have any mountainous areas that i like.

Russia i guess. it has pretty much every kind of environment except rain forests. and it has true wilderness, meaning its inaccessible. Canada, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Brazil, US and other countries with large sparsely populated areas count

Are there any mountain ranges with a decent height?

No

Colorado is pretty fucking intense in places. Just two days ago I was wading through 10ft of snow in 22°F weather, drove 30 minutes and I'm in the desert sweating my ass off climbing rocks.
>>
>>733581
Although in the high desert area I did see 11 mule deer within a 5 minute span while hiking, and a group of at least three dozen or more dicking around in a field on the way out so I know where I'm going if the world ends.

The entirety of Mongolia is pretty much public land, which is awesome. You can pretty much point yourself in any direction and walk or ride a horse for miles and not see a fence.
>>

I thought I would love living in Colorado, but man the people there can be dicks. Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Idaho felt so much better.
>>
>>733735
>Australia
Lolno. It's 95% red dust, and the parts that aren't are mostly subdivisions. New Zealand is smaller but it has more diversity and is better for /out/ (and New Zealanders are better at /out/, Aussies are essentially Amerifats without the guns).

>>733760
Russia would seem to qualify but a lot of it is off limits to tourists and the whole country is at least mildly radioactive, besides being on the brink of sliding back into total authoritarianism. USA only counts because of Alaska. Scandinavia is rugged, but tiny (it would fit inside Ontario). The answer is Canada.

Mongolia is the most /out/ country since it has no laws restricting camping, there are almost no cities and it has a varying landscape. It's not called "the land with no fences" for nothing..

China however has the MOST varying landscape of any country in a coherent landmass. If you argue this, you know too little about China. The downside is that they are very restricted when it comes to freedom of movement and provinces like Tibet and Xinjiang can sometimes be hard to enter for international tourists.

Yeah but boss you also have places like Colorado, California, and Washington, and WA is in my opinion hands down the most /out/ state, with maybe California tying it just because of Yosemite.

Are you joking right now?

You aren't allowed to properly camp anywhere in the contiguous US. But yeah, if you consider pitching a tent in a designated camping zone with 50 other "nature tourists" as I'd rather call them, then all right
>>
>>733958
This

- NZ is huge (about as long as the US West Coast) and hardly anyone lives here.
- One third of the land is in public ownership. You can camp on almost all of it for free.
- Diverse environments. Everything from sub-tropical rainforest to deserts. Mountains up to 3700m high, including glaciers.
- Zero dangerous wildlife.
- Relaxed gun laws and huntable deer, tahr, goats, pigs, possums, rabbits etc.

Anyway I don't think the troubled areas of the Caucasus are so dangerous. I'm planning on going to Abkhazia as soon as my Russian-speaking friend can get time off work. And some anon on /trv/ was telling me how he was hiking and saw some soldiers sitting at a post, who waved at him, then lit cigarettes and ignored him so he kept walking. our gun laws aren't amazing, but they're better than a lot of people give them credit for. as far as developed livable countries go (so all of africa is out—despite essentially no restrictions on guns in places like somalia) nz is probably in the top 6 along with the us, canada, finland, czech republic and switzerland.

small things we take for granted like being able to buy suppressors hassle free and hunt with them. this is something americans generally cannot do for example.

USA are actually shitty when it comes to that, I looked at a map and national forests are like 5% or less of your land. Here in Norway you are allowed to camp and go everywhere, including other people's private property, as long as it's not actively used, like gardens and farm fields. So 96% of the land.

You're usually allowed to cut down smaller dead trees for firewood or whatever else for free, in National forests.

I would imagine most countries don't legally just let you lop down any old tree on public lands for free, lest logging companies spiral out of control just taking down the whole forest.

Clearly you need to learn about logging operations in the 21st century. If they don't own the land the make a bid on the timber sale. Stump marks are painted on the trees to hold them liable for harvesting trees they are not supposed to. Logging companies often own their own land as well, for which they hire foresters/forest ecologists to mark timber stands that have been trained in sustainability for that particular region.

This man has been living off the land in Iceland, waking up to the birds entering his yurt in the morning on the good days and enduring the cold wet storms ripping at him and his things on the bad days. The photos are taken in some undisclosed shrub forest in the vicinity of Reykjavik. He dislikes the city and says there's been a feudal system in place since the time of the vikings. "We used to have family villages here I want to restore. Villages working toward self sustainability and kinship with nature without money or debt:" He adds that the political system is faulty and entities have grown too big. "We can build everything we need from natural renewable resources" The newscast was shown some of the items he improvised for the off grid living and promised they wouldn't reveal his location.

Rural America is as safe as Sweden, sometimes safer, despite much laxer laws across the board - with emphasis on MUCH laxer gun laws.

Well, it's hard to determine what's out since scenery is subjective so what's left?

I guess services as water, trails, instructions, huts and firewood. Also important factors are the conditions and amount of nature reserves, national parks and wilderness areas. Not to mention safety. Also countries with Freedom to roam it's much easier to go out.

So I'd say Nordic countries and Norway being my personal number one.

Pic from Finland though.

Brazil got some really nice spots, especially for coast lovers.

Another plus side is that the chance to get mugged in /out/ drops significantly.
