what does donald trump read? (or perhaps a more appropriate question is: does donald trump read?)

He doesn't sound like he's read much.

You can Google this for more reliable details. At some point during the campaign someone asked him what he'd been reading and after much prodding he finally came up with All Quiet on the Western Front. Then someone asked him again like months later and he said the same thing. I think he might have named All Quiet on the Western Front as his favorite book on yet another occasion also.

Not only can Trump not read, he can't even lie about reading.

People who have spent time with him have gone on record saying they didn't think he could really read. One example I remember is Pete Davidson from SNL said when Trump hosted he refused to read the script in front of people and instead insisted on just improvising lines.

Let's flesh out this novel idea I had when I was 14.

the timer or 00:00:

>in the future, a man who hates his life lives in a city where a giant clock is ticking on the wall. Nobody knows who put the clock there, but when the man meets some old man who tells him what to do, he does it and the clock immediately turns into a timer...and who knows what happens when the timer reaches 00:00?

I'm thinking the city revolves around the clock. It almost seems to be religious.

>when the man meets some old man

What is this old man like, where did he meet him?

>who tells him what to do

I'm thinking, instructs him on something riddle-like.

>the clock turns into a timer
what should the time be? I think it should turn into a timer on midnight.

I imagine the timer starts with the date and goes backwards

I'd like to hear thoughts and ideas. I never finish stories or novels, so hearing how it would be if I wrote it is a good idea.

The ending, after much panic and suspense, finally getting everyones attention and proving that something will happen, when it reaches 00:00 it just flips over to 9999:9999 (whatever), and/or right before it hits 00, the batteries die... and then they put new batteries in, and then it hits 00. or a large revolutionary motif starts with a side not wanting to put in new batteries, and a side wanting too,

The religious relation, could be similar to 4chan, dubs, trips etc. in that certain numerical orientations mean certain things, like time to eat, time to wash, and theres a whole code book, of all the different meanings, like where the dubs occur 4566343 compared to 6534773

certain celebrations on certain things like flush 654321

The old man, might be the son/or grandson, of the man who made the clock.

or the son of a founding member of the temple of the religion, or high political figure,

How the mc could have become curious about the clock, meet an outside on the edge of town, who warns of hearing a fable or story about this village, and needed to see for himself, first time an outside was met maybe?

maybe then he goes looking to speak to high preists and finds the old man, or goes behind the building wall where the clock is to search, to see if he can find any details about the mechanics, or history of it, mabe he finds the old man behind the clock in a little swell fab apartment, gotta think of old man character type, wealthy pristine palace apartment, or like sage keymaker/clockmaker, with tons of computers and graduated cylinders, etc. things like stock tickers,

he leaves the old mans apartment, everyone is making a big scene outside, as everyone notices it began counting down as a timer, he runs back up, to find the apartment empty, or the old man dead

Either when it hits 0, nothing happens, or something happens.

aliens land on earth.

massive earth quake and atlantis rises.

buildings take off as space ships.

the city is surrounded by warrior hordes.

there is a hostile mutiny takeover.

the protagonist wakes up, as the 00 represents

the alarm clock and he was dreaming.

Why do people buy used books? The local bookstores that I've been to have decent selections but the books have worn out spines or ugly covers. My personal library is going to be pretty.

Because I don't mind them.

My used book store has beautiful leatherbound and hardbound books in addition to nicely maintained paperbacks. There are a lot of books in shit condition but that's not really a reason not to go to a used book store, it is a reason to not buy a shit book
>>
>>8754561
you know some people take care of their books, right? plus some used books are just as fresh as retail, just that they've been bought and never used or read.

hey, /lit/. i need some serious suggestions. i have always been a poet, and haven't read anything in years. i constantly write all day, everyday, but have never looked for inspiration in other writers.
i am interested in romanticized works of grit and love.
i am also interested in surrealist literature.

i just want to be able to find writers who have written about similar topics/genre as i do. i consider myself a romantic poet, but also really enjoy writing an occasional mind warping reality.

please help me! here is a sample piece can anyone offer me any suggestions? it is my first time here; i apologize if this isn't the way to go about my situation.

why don't you put it through a spell check for starters... IQ of 131 and still haven't learned English aka the easiest language to learn that ever existed.
Frankly what you have written pretty much is quite daily and mundane. Not that it isn't believable, believable and relatable it is: it's just painful to read: A Muslim not waiting until the dozenth row to start mumbling about his religion, what's new here.
Who wants to read about the next ghetto rat violent kid, who's so full of himself he thinks he's not just smart and just but also pious and deserves to be treated well.

It's total crap.

George Eliots\'s a genius, man. Dickens knew it. Woolf knew it. The Queen knew it. And if you would take the time to know it for yourself, you'll honestly be a better person.

yeah, it was pretty fucking boring. i mean the first page talks about the most mundane shit i've ever read. not even an attempt at being remotely fascinating. same with AK, fucking soap opera epics akin to the young and the restless being passed off as though they're the finest novels in existence, while simultaneously shitting on masculinity and adventure and intrigue and genuine cleverness. but no, i gotta read about mr. douchington's well bred mannerisms and how best to place a candle on a fucking table for 600 hours because some stumpfuck pleb on /lit/ thinks shit like that is remotely worthwhile and simpleton pretentious faggot shite.
