Hello /k/, Europoor here.
I recently bought an m96 Swedish mauser for target shooting.
I'm now thinking about using it for hunting as well since we have a lot of hogs in my area and they are fucking up crops so the government declared open season on them.

I would really like to add some optics to it since my eyes are not what they used to be and mauser sights look too fuzzy for me.
The rifle is in decent condition and dated 1903 so I would rather not have it drilled and tapped.
Are there any good non permanent options that also hold decent zero? Does anyone have first hand experience?
I'd rather avoid having to buy a secondary gun since permits are quite hard to get and the whole process takes a long time.

Well, a Savage Axis II in .223 is going to run ABOUT the same price. While a little more expensive it's a lot better of a cheap bolt action in all the ways that actually matter, so I think OP yeah we'll be over the nugget soon.

Hey /k/
I was having dinner with a USA friend and he put forward the idea that China's belligerence in the SCS is because without control of it, it would be too easy to enforce a maritime blockade of China.

I can see the straits of Malaca and Philippines as easy to close but I don't really think you could close the northern sea lanes.

What does /k/ think?

The North is more controlled by the Chinese, but there are competent US/Japanese/Taiwanese forces in the area.

The South is more restrictive on China, but the countriee are weaker and not united. Hence the island building in response to Vietnam's island building.

What kind of training would you need for a dog to actually be a useful asset instead of just a companion in a SHTF scenario?

What kind of protective gear is there for dogs? I know about armored vests but what about like helmets or ear and eye protection?

Do they make like dog combat rations?

Not exaggerating here, but pretty much any protective gear that humans have, dogs have. You can buy damn near anything.

The bulletproof vests are meh, since a dogs body is so different, with the head forward, most shots will incapacitate if not outright kill it.

Check out Ruffwear. I got my puppers a full harness with side pockets and a handle on the back, that way when we go backpacking they carry their own food and collapsing water bowl.
